Mission: Mission 103: The Rumblings of Discontent
Location: Various Locations - USS Solemn Penance
Timeline: 1200Hrs - August 27th, 2393

Nearby, as the USS Solemn Pennance floated in space, there was a flash of light as a second Federation ship emerged from warp. The USS Manticore slowed almost to nothing. Commander Derris Feraan narrowed her eyes. "Guys, keep a sharp eye out. I hate surprises and I don't feel like getting humped buy Solemn Pennance again," she commented.

Lt Commander Woerner narrowed her eyes. "Alanna, scan them. whats their situation look like?" the thje small Frenchwoman sat back in her chair as she asked the Operations officer to handle matters. "Call it a hunch, I think they are here for one of two reasons."

"Go on number one?" Feraan inquired evenly, a gentle smile creeping across her face.

The small Human slowly crossed her slender arms across her chest, under her breasts. "They might be looking into waiting for someone else, or they ended up being unable to run further," she explained. "A trapped animal is most dangerous when cornered," she added in soft tones while the smaller woman regarded the Vrykul woman beside her.

"Fair enough." Feraan paused a moment as she considered her options. "Halfjaw, warm up all of our weapons," she commented. "The second anything goes wrong, chuck everything we have that's not nailed down at them." the large female explained.

"Yes, Shipmaster. It will be done." Halfjaw answered. His claws moved across the pannels before him as he proceeded to follow his orders and activate all the weapons aboard the Manticore and had them prepare for immediate launch, should it become needed. "Weapons are ready," he commented a moment later.

Meanwhile over on the USS Rawalpindi which emerged from warp a few minutes after the Manticore did, also slowed to a slow rate of movement through the grandness of the cosmos. Captain L'Ruan regarded the scene on the tactical display before her. "Ms. Dragon, is there anything new?" she inquired of her Chief Science officer who was busy working at her displays. "I can tell you, Captain, that this is as far as the Solemn Pennance is going, without aid or heading for a Starbase, or a shipyard for an overhaul." she turned her head as she nodded. "Solemn Penance has become immobilized due to damage to her warp drive."

Paul Dragon nodded his head. "I can confirm that, Captain. Looks like someone hasn't been looking after the ship's infrastructure," he commented with a soft sigh.

L'Ruan raised an eyebrow as she turned to the ship's tactical officer. "Mister Montrose. Arm all weapons and prepare to fire, if as the humans say... she makes any funny moves, throw everything we have at them." the Vulcan female explained in quiet gentle tones.

"Aye Captain." Lt Commander Montrose had already had all of the ship's weapons armed and ready for their one-way ride into oblivion. "Weapons ready, shields are on standby, phasers ready and missiles prepped and ready for flight."

L'Ruan narrowed her eyes as she regarded the carrier, displayed on the screen before her and the rest of the ship's bridge crew.

Goranaar turned. "Captain, they are locking weapons onto us and onto the Manticore."

L'Ruan raised an eyebrow as they watched the carrier slowly swing her bow around. "Hail them..." the Vulcan female commented softly.

The Bolian seated at Operations nodded. "You're up skipper, they are receiving us," he added.

"Captain Brevik, I can only assume you have a good explanation for your actions this day, I am ordered to strop you and prevent you from escaping, you will either surrender to me now or else." The Vulcan female seated in her command chair, explained using plain and simple terms so there was no misunderstanding her. "I am compelled to use force to stop you unless you surrender."

"No response sir." Goranaar rumbled form the pos he was manning at the back of the bridge. "However they are indeed receiving us."

"I do not doubt that they are hearing us Chief, they might-" L'Ruan responded.

"Captain, they just opened fire on us, sixty missiles incoming..." Montrose called out.

"Shoot down their ordinance." Franklin Davis called out from the right side of the Captain.

For L'Ruan, the time for talk had passed. Now it was time to fight. Montrose did not wait for her orders as she had already given him his marching orders, he worked his pannel as the USS Rawalpindi cleared her guns in anger as she volleyed all of her ordinance back at the Solemn Pennance in response, the two ships then began an intricate series of weaves and turns as the missiles that the defenses missed, began to land onto their respective targets. The Rawalpindi came out of the fight as the loser as she lost the majority of her shielding in the first pass. The sequence of events was more or less duplicated on the Manticore as she too, came out the loser of this engagement, however, the Solemn Pennance also lost a lot of her shield strength in the engagement too.

Hriss turned her head. "Skipper, the Manticore is withdrawing out of weapons range." the female Caitian called out.

"Do the same and rendezvous with them." L'Ruan paused. "Send a message to Vanguard, advise them that we have been engaged,"

Gorannar nodded his massive head. "It will be done." he rumbled.
