| Personal History | Commander Derris Feraan was born on Vrykul Prime in 2333, she was raised during the Great War and two of her relatives were killed in one of the colonies when it got glassed. She was not directly affected like others so when the Vrykul first encountered the Federation in 2350, she went to the Federation in the second shipment of people in 2353 and she quickly applied to join Starfleet The Vrykul were given a special dispensation to join Starfleet without needing the approval of a command level officer which some felt was a foolish policy. Derris Feraan did well as a medical officer but she also did well as a counselor, it was something she enjoyed, helping overs to overcome their problems at times helped her with her own issues. Her various assignments helped her to cope with the prolonged isolation from other Vrykul until she started to encounter them more and more as the years went by. Her various assignments were a rather eclectic mixture of Starbases and starships as she found herself serving on a variety of ships. Also she fought through some of the Federations most brutal fights in the Dominion War After the end of the war, she helped people come to terms with what they had gained and lost, of while planets glassed and ships destroyed with friends and loved ones slain. Her subsequent assignments saw her do well in her chosen field as she was a skilled therapist who could help anyone with anything her present assignment on the USS Toronto does nothing to change any of this. Since then she has been assigned to the USS Rawalpindi as their Chief Counselor for the better part of a year before she was offered the chance to skip the usual stuff as she got a job offer which would later change her destiny and her face, a chance to go into command as an Executive Officer of one of the Federations newest and largest starships, the Alaska and she said yes. She had two days to put her affairs in order and make sure her successor was trained and then off she went to her new job wearing command red rather then medical teal. Now she serves on USS Manticore as their new commanding officer. |
