| Personal History | Personal History Born in 2366 on the colony world of Bounty. Tyla was a happy child growing up as her childhood was rather simple, she learned a great deal but disaster struck when her family was on vacation she had four siblings and both parents. The ship was boarded and captured during the Dominion war. All the passengers were put to the sword at the hands of a few Cardassian guards who had fun with the female prisoners. The ship was recovered by a Klingon raiding party who went in and slaughtered the Cardassians without mercy but it did not matter as Tyla Shrikewing was an orphan and alone. She went into the Federation foster system but she had a burning hatred for all things Cardassian. This rage stayed with her and only grew as he years passed. She graduated from school and went into security school for the academy, acing the weapons requirements easily but she really struggled with the people aspects of the courses. Nevertheless she spent the next four years training and training and training for the classes to graduate as a security officer. To fill out her classes, she took classes in piloting and she showcased a high level of attitude for it, she was good at flying and while she greatly enjoyed it, she was fixated on becoming a security officer. She graduated in 2388 in the top third of some five hundred students and was assigned to the USS Deneva. An Akira class ship in need of some new people so off she went. It did not take her long to run afoul of the skipper aboard who was very old school in that he junior officers were seen and not heard and none officers were neither seen or heard. The man was a ruthless tyrant, he made life very hard for newcomers citing their lack of experience. Regardless of who it was so in the end he ended up provoking a mutiny when he issued a set of illegal orders to fire on refugees. This provoked a very serious problem for Shrikewing as she did not care either way but she refused to fire on helpless refugees. The Executive officer, fed up with his asshole of a skipper refused and when force was applied. Shrikewing drew her sidearm and shot everyone on the bridge, then she quickly broadcast a distress call. Aid from another Federation ship arrived quickly but the fallout was downright epic and she was offered a transfer to leave, she accepted citing workplace disagreements so she was posted to the USS Roanoke.
