Starbase Vanguard is one of the first few dozen of the new Ournal three class starbases built from the ground up as brand new, the base herself is part of the Federation's efforts in upgrading and upgunning their older seventy-four type bases, she is fitted with the standard quantum missile as well as the new armor and warhead launchers. This base is one of the most advanced bases yet built in the Federation and time will tell whether or not she is able to live up to her potential.
