Mission: Mission 79: Sound Trumpets! Let Our bloody Colors Wave
Location: Gorash System - Outer Regions
Timeline: 1000Hrs - April 12th, 2392

Captain Marie Yamaguchi was seated in her command chair, on the bridge of her command, the USS Stalingrad. "Maybe I'm just being paranoid..." she commented more to herself then anyone else. "I was expecting something... anything other then... Nothing at all." she narrowed her eyes as she regarded the tactical display before her. "Maybe they don't want to toy with us.." the handsome woman would reflect back on this later that she had been hopelessly misguided.

Lrt Commander Jarris M'kresst slowly smiled. "Well, we didn't come all dressed up all this way for nothing.." the large Male Caitian commented from where he was sitting at his post. "I'm still seeing several of those echoes on the sensors though... I don't know what they are."

Commander Ken Noros narrowed his eyes. "Tom, anything?" the first officer inquired, he was not in a good mood and he doubted that many others weren't either.

Master Chief Tom Carter was busy manning the science post as that was his primary vocation before moving into command of all the enlisted personnel aboard the Stalingrad and due to shortages on time and resources, the Stalingrad was forced to deploy to the war zone without a Chief of science. However, Marie knew that Tom had things well in hand for all concerned.

"They are mobile.." Carter spoke before he narrowed. "They could be cloaked ships though.."

"Target them." Noros shared a look with Yamaguchi, she nodded in return. "The second they make a stupid move... blast them."

Lieutenant Jerzy Wojcik, who was presently listed as the Chief Intelligence Officer for this ship turned. "Captain. The rest of the fleet is reporting light opposition against them, however, they are reporting large numbers of birds of prey in the groups attacking them."

Noros scoffed. "Birds of Prey.. they're no match for us." he dismissed them as a threat.

"That's what they said about the Enterprise-D and that old Klingon D12 twenty years ago and look how that fight went down... The Galaxy class got another bloody nose and to an antiquated piece of crap no less..." Lieutenant Zheng Jet commented lightly.

While all of this was being said, the turbolift doors opened and out stepped one of the crew Cardassians in Starfleet service. Chief Petty Officer Horus Yamaguchi who was the ship's Chief Nurse at the present time, regarded his wife with a faint smile as he handed her a PADD. "Sohnaxx asks for your John Henry on the dotted line." his voice was soft and gentle, it was soothing to Marie's nerves.

Ken Noros blinked. "Wait... you told a joke. I .." he paused. "I do not believe I just heard that."

Meanwhile, Lieutenant Zheng Jet who was the Chief Operations Officer, simply laughed as he turned to Noros. "You should drop by the weekly poker games more often. He's a comedian when he's in the mood," he commented evenly.

Noros sighed. "I'll do that then.." he responded.

Marie accepted the PADD, she gave it the once over. "Tell that Bolian that I will spank her in two hours. Off with you."

Horus chuckled softly. "I will so inform the good doctor of your message." and with that, he accepted the PADD back from his wife before he departed the bridge in silence.

Horus meanwhile made his way back to sickbay where the various personnel was gathered and prepared for anything. "Team Three, you guys set?"

"Are we?.... I mean we are.. right... sorry my English is bad today." responded a human woman who's named escaped Horus right at this particular second. "Doctor?"

Commander Sohnaxx Dvald regarded the offender with a rather evil glare as the young human woman smiled sweetly back at her. "Go to Engineering and make yourself useful Natalie."

"Yes massa'." the human responded. "Let's go guys. Engineering." and with that, the human and her team of six filed out of sickbay in single file. Horus regarded Sohnaxx. "The request."

"Yes.. sorry about that.." the older Bolian responded. "I wasn't expecting that issue to crop up."

Horus chuckled. "Yes. Marie says that she'll spank you in two hours."

Dvald looked up at him, clearly unsure if he was serious or not. "I'm not sure if that's good.. or not."

"I assure you my wife, who is also this ship's Captain is quite serious." the Cardassian responded flatly, without breaking a smile.

"Right... Okay... head down to Engineering and help Lieutenant Regis with her issues would ya?"

"Yes, Doctor." and with that, he turned and headed out of sickbay, a medical kit in hand. Upon arrival he found Lieutenant Natalie Regis setting up her people. "Horus, you here to help us?"

"I am indeed.." The Cardassian responded as Lieutenant Commander Katrina Sisko who was listed as the Chief Engineering Officer for this ship turned her head. "Keep out from underfoot guys.. and I won't need to boot you out," she commented softly.

"Indeed sir." Regis and Horus both responded at the same time before trading a look and a soft laugh.

Meanwhile over on their companion capital ship which had a very similar design philosophy, the USS Infinity was an older platform then the Stalingrad was, her systems weren't quite as modern and she had a more used and rustic feeling to her then the new Guardian class ships did. In the command chair was seated a small Vulcan female who looked comically undersized for her job and more then a few had thought of her as if she was a child waiting for her parents. That thought lasted only until this woman opened her mouth and said something or she sighed and muttered. 'Oh for crying out loud.'

It was a human expression that she had picked up from her first commanding officer. Rear Admiral Jake Yamaguchi who had been a Captain and Commodore at the time but her relationship with Jake was a rather unusual one in that the two had a child together that she didn't wish for him to be involved as she feared it would complicate matters with his own wife who thought the entire event as hilarious.

T'Shaamet had been forced to leave her child behind on Starbase 12 in the company of many hundreds of other children from the ships in Independent Fleet Operations ships before being redeployed tot he newly opened Gorn front. Needless to say that this little Vulcan was not in a happy mood either. "Status?" she inquired.

Commander Sarah Horner was the one who responded. "Everything is status quo skipper." she was twice the size of the Vulcan female seated to her left and while she preferred talking to fighting, she was in no doubt as to how today would end, with blood and fire and she was determined to win this battle.

Lt Commander Meslina Amakawa sighed softly. "We're passing the orbital radius of the ninth planet, four minutes to destination." the small dark-skinned Trill female explained.

T'Shaamet nodded her head, as she processed the information that she just heard as the turbolift doors opened and out stepped a female Caitian that was large and tall. Commander Tirothyn R’Shav regarded the bridge crew as they worked but she stood in silence.

Commander Morae Stormstout peered over at the Caitian female in medical teal. "Whats up Doc?"

The Caitian regarded the massive woman. "I'm just taking a moment.." she responded. "Why?"

"No real reason.." Stormstout responded evenly. "We're heading into the system and we're about to-" just then the sounds of combat echoed off of the bulkheads as Lieutenant Commander Kayden Nell who was the Infinity's Chief Tactical Actions Officer smiled. "Sixty birds of prey just decloaked and opened fire on us."

"Return fire," Runt responded, an evil smile on her lips as she watched one of the Birds of Prey shatter due to Infinity's main battery's weapons fire.
