| Personal History | Kayden Nell was born on Bajor at the height of the Cardassian occupation and the first years of his life was a life of utter misery. Born in 2356. Sometimes he didn't know where his next meal was coming from as his parents fought as part of the resistance. He spent his formative years on the move from location to location, never really calling one place home though he did prefer Lonar province to anywhere else as the resistance grew stronger and stronger but as they did. the Cardassians hit back ever harder with more repression and aggression. First killing Kayden's father and several months later his mother. Before the age of five, he was alone and an orphan, all the rest of his family had already been slain through various causes so he continued to fight the war for the first thirteen years of his horrible life. It was the effects of the Bajoran occupation and the resistance that would define everything about him for years and even decades later, he still slept on the floor and ate small meals as late as the might eighties when serving on Federation Starships. He would spend the last five years of his childhood finishing his education or rather starting and cramming four years into ten years which one could argue was what lead to his issues during the Dominion War. Kayden grew to hate Cardassians and he would enjoy hunting them in whatever situation when he found himself facing them on the battlefield, however he would miss the Dominion War despite his demand that he wanted to go out and fight so while he was going to miss the war, he wanted to show that he had it go to in all respects, he was assigned to the USS Trafalgar where he worked with Captain Karl Reyes who helped him overcome his issues. He was here only for one year before he was reassigned to the USS Spirit of Fire but he was much calmer but nowhere near enough to really serve on an active ship of the line but he lasted two years on the Spirit of Fire before he went over to the USS Courageous. Kayden's assignment to the USS Courageous helped him achieve a measure of peace that he had never known before so rather then transfer to other assignments, he preferred to remain here and in 2388. he went across to the USS Song of the East when the USS Courageous went in for her twenty year refitting. When the Song of the East went in for refitting to Renown class specs. He and the rest of the crew were reassigned to the Renown class USS Infinity, but in late 2393, Kayden was offered his own command, the USS Gallant and he accepted, he departed for his new command a couple of days after getting his command. |
