| Personal History | Born in 2346. Marie was close to her siblings and to her cousins, much the same as almost every other Yamaguchi in existence and it was the ending of the Cardassian border wars that showed her what she found to be the true path through life, she went to join Starfleet as did every other Yamaguchi in her generation. She graduated around twenty-three sixty-eight and her first assignment was with the office of displaced person agency, one of these was a civilian named Horus Mavek, he would earn Marie's attention and later respect as he was a medical officer and while he was a refugee whose home had been taken over by the Cardassian government, he resolved to make the best of what he considered the worst situation he had ever encountered. It was his work ethic, to help others even though he was surrounded by those who hated and reviled him, it was this that slowly melted Marie's heart as she found excuses to work with him and spend time off duty with him. It was this event when she told him directly to his face of what he meant to her and so she talked to him about getting citizenship in the Federation, so a few weeks went by before he stuck in a request for citizenship in the Federation, While his request was being processed, he decided to enlist in Starfleet, much to the shock and surprise of everyone involved. Marie found this rather endearing as they were now dating but one event that happened at the same time would also change both of their lives forever as Marie would find out that she was pregnant with twins, upon hearing the news, he proposed to her and she accepted, they were married two weeks later. All of this was about the same time as the Klingon civil war of 2367 and thus she ended up settling on tactical as her life's work, the protection of others who were weaker then she was and the destruction of her enemies. She passed through several assignments until the Dominion war started at the end of twenty-three seventy-three and she fought well, by all accounts, earning herself much respect and acclaim from her comrades and her superiors but the war also slowly knawed away at the young woman. Marie and her husband were both transferred to the USS Antarctica which was under the command of Captain Keyan Farlander. and he appointed her to become his new Chief tactical officer, something she did not see coming and Mavek would serve in the ships medical corps. Two years later she was transferred to Starbase Seventy Four and here she remained for another few years, also it was here she gained her first command, the USS Avalanche which was a small Sabre class ship. Marie and her family flourished here and she was able to sink deep roots to the base and her personnel. Marie remained here until she was offered a promotion to Captain and the command of the USS Stalingrad. Since being assigned here she has come to enjoy this assignment as master of her own destiny to some degree. Marie is presently raising the last child in her household as the others have grown up and most have joined Starfleet. |
