| Personal History | Tom "Guardian" Carter was born in 2345 on Luna. His family was all shipbuilders and they worked on the Copernicus shipyards for the last four generations. At least one member of the Carter family had been working here and this was one family business that Tom had no intentions of being a part of, his sister seemed to want to fulfill that role so Garry was free to do whatever it was that he wanted while growing up. When Carter graduated school, he decided to enlist in Starfleet rather than go off to the academy as his test scores would not have permitted him entrance into Starfleet as an officer so he went off and enlisted instead. His excuse was that he preferred to be working rather than standing around giving orders. Carter's first assignment was the USS Melbourne which while being an older Excelsior Class, he knew this ship was old and due to be replaced soon, and while she was destroyed at Wolf 359, his actions in saving several dozen others earned him a bronze star and a promotion. His next posting was to a new Steamrunner class ship which had just been commissioned, the USS Caen. While she was new, she gave excellent service while he was assigned to her, looking after convoys and the other usual missions a ship in the late sixties could garner. His next posting was the USS Grafton, this was another assignment that he greatly enjoyed. Carter would meet his future wife aboard this vessel as she was a waitress serving drinks and they collided in her lounge. Helen Fileen was her name. The two spent time together and they began to form a solid friendship, simply because he was gentle about it and he wasn't demanding, others could have accused him of being weak-willed where a woman was concerned. Carter simply laughed at the other enlisted men who wanted him to seduce her and be done with it. When Carter was reassigned to the USS Black Prince as Chief of the Boat. Helen simply followed him across and the two were married a month later in the horrors of the Dominion War. Ultimately it was not to last as the Black Prince was destroyed in the battle of Coridan. He was reassigned to the USS Indomitable where he remained for the next sixteen years where he would have four children and go from Chief to Master Chief before he took over as the Chief of the Boat on the USS Alexander the Great. Helen Carter simply moved in and took over the lounge from its old owner. Here the Hawkson's make their home with their children alongside them. When the Alexander the Great went in for reassignment to a new Captain and crew because she was re-designated as a Light Cruiser rather than a Heavy Cruiser thanks to the military reorganization act. He and the rest of the crew were reassigned to the Guardian Class. USS Shield of Wolves. |
