Mission:
Mission 105: The Mirror, Shattered
Location: Various Locations - USS Infinity / New Halana
Timeline: 0910Hrs - October 6th, 2393
On the bridge of the USS Infinity, everyone tended to hold their breathes as missions like this were carried out. When suddenly several alarms began to beep at the bridge crew. "The drone hives are all on station, they have begun their deployment..." Lt Commander Meslina Amakawa explained as she tapped at her displays, while the reports came in from the sensors and the systems she was monitoring. "Sixty-two thousand four hundred and eleven drones are moving on the major population centres now." the small Trill female added as she regarded the Captain of the ship.
Commander Alyssa Temetti turned her head. "I'm reading two starships emerging from behind the planets shadow and two dozen small craft rising from the surface, they seem to wish to challenge us, Captain," she reported in a flat tone of voice. "Their shields are up, their weapons are charging but they are not targeting us." what she left unsaid was. 'not yet, anyway.' but everyone on the bridge crew knew this detail and they knew why she was leaving it unsaid.
"As expected." Horner quipped softly as she regarded T'Shaamet who looked cool, calm and collected. "Status of weapons and shields?" she asked of Nell, who smiled. "All systems are at a hundred percent, they are no match for us..." he reported in simple terms, he also smiled softly, as if hoping they would try something against his shields and his home. "What's our rules of engagement skipper?" he inquired in a soft tone.
"if they start with us, shoot to disable only but do take care to not kill anyone, if you can avoid it..." T'Shaamet answered, knowing that combat was more than likely going to take place. She also said the last sentence as she knew that sometimes things went wrong despite one's own best efforts and people could and often did die needlessly in battle.
The Bajoran male at tactical nodded his head. "Aye Captain..." he responded evenly while Amakaea raised an eyebrow. "Skipper, we're being hailed... Odd... I thought these people opened fire and asked questions later." the small Tirll asked everyone present on the bridge.
"I thought so too," T'Shaamet answered as Kayden Nell regarded the screen. "Captain, tactical display on the screen.' he commented as he put it up, in the centre was the planet with a large Federation emblem indicating that it was the USS Infinity, with eight odd-looking emblems which indicated they were New Halanan forces and suddenly four Federation Imperial emblems appeared, one of them was smaller then Infinity and the other two were smaller still while the last one was the same size as the Infinity.
T'Shaamet raised an eyebrow. "Are they trying to box us in?" she inquired.
"They are hailing us again," Amakaea answered.
"Put them up on the screen," Horner answered.
The image was replaced with a Halanan female who had a rather irritated look on her face. "Imperial vessel, this is Halanan space, can I ask your intentions?" she inquired, her tone indicated that she was irritated but wary at the same time.
"My intentions?." T'Shaamet inquired. "I'm here to-" as Amakara interrupted. "Skipper, we're getting a hail from the Imperial force... They wish to speak with us..."
T'Shaamet raised an eyebrow in the Vulcan fashion. "Put them through... Merge the two transmissions."
The Imperial commander was someone who T'Shaamet knew rather well but she opted to not talk about that detail, she knew that many of her bridge crew could recognize him as well. "To the unknown Captain commanding an Imperial ship... or at least I assume that's an imperial ship. You will stand down and surrender yourself into my custody." Captain Jackson Antilles demanded of her. "If you fail to comply then I will batter down your shields and have you brought to me." as he glared at her.
"A pity boys, I'd love to surrender but I think I will opt to try resisting..." as the Vulcan regarded this reflection of her husband, she turned and moved back to her seat. "Screen off," she stated as she glared darkly at the screen as the tactical display returned. "Channel closed sir," Amakawa stated for the record.
Now it was a waiting game as the Halanan force stood off at a certain distance from the Infinity while the Imperial ships moved into orbit.
Meanwhile down in the Main Engineering of the USS Infinity, the first series of results were starting to roll in from the massive swarms of robotic mosquitos that were harvesting. Zh'Terran smiled as she regarded the information coming in. She tapped her combadge. "Zh'Terran to Temetti, the first results are coming in now Alyssa, are you seeing this?"
"We are..." came the response from the human female who was presently upon the bridge. Temetti turned. "Skipper, I'll be in science lab one, I need to monitor these readings and ensure there are no issues."
"Proceed," T'Shaamet answered with a nod of her head.
Temetti vacated her post as she left the bridge in silence, one of the junior officers replaced her. "Download is continuing sir." the man reported in a flat tone of voice.
Kayden Nell raised an eyebrow. "The Halanans have noticed the download..." he commented evenly. "They are attempting to block it."
"Helm, initiate a long manoeuvre to move us into a lower orbit," T'Shaamet commented. "Target everyone."
Kayden Nell nodded. "Targets locked sir."
"The Imperials are targeting the Halanan's... They are firing on them."
Horner sighed as she shook her head. "Target the Imperials only... Open fire," she commented. "Shoot to disable or drive them off... Either will do." as she watched the ships and their positions disintegrated as all of the ships began shooting at each other.
