Marine Excercises - Day 1 - Introducing the Weapons

Mission: Mission 74: The War Within, The War Without
Location: Planet Zekarria - Firing range
Timeline: Mar 26th 2392

Chalan and Nightstar stepped off the shuttle that had recently landed at Zekarria's firing range along with all of Roanoke's marines. Yuri grissom examined his new Type 3Fa heavy Phaser rifle, which also had a grenade launcher attachment. "Well I'm already liking the new weapons."

Chalan and Nightstar both had standard Phaser rifles but also equipped the grenade launchers and both received the new TR 119 rail pistols too. "Yeah Starfleet really is branching out on their weapons."

Tragg Highmountain stood in silence as he hefted the new massive rifle in his hands. "Very nice.." he rumbled. "What do you guys think.?"

Abbado walked off the next shuttle, hearing Tragg prompting him to comment. "The federation has finally gotten serious about developing real weapons for a change."

Highmountain hefted the weapon in his hands before he gave the rifle in his arms the once over. "So.. who are we waiting for?" he inquired as he looked around at the various personnel gathering around.

Harrak looked at Shalamar. "Cool, new weapons. I can't wait to burn through a few cooling coils."

"You'll be waiting a while to do that." Werner stated from behind the two. "This is just a familiarization briefing. No serious training, yet."

Garibaldi looked at Vaal. "Make sure none of the questionable types do anything stupid." Vaal nodded and headed off.

"Donovan!" A voice came from behind him He turned to see Hobbs.

"Bri, I heard you were part of the battlegroup, glad to finally meet up with you." Garibaldi told Hobbs.

"Yes, I'm the marine group commander." Hobbs replied. "We should meet for a get together."

"Ya, that sounds like an idea. I'll talk to you about it later." Garibaldi told her. Truth was that he wanted to talk to Hobbs more but had to many things to do.

The various troops milled about all getting to know their weapons. John Burgoyne regarded many of the marines around him when he spotted a face he'd not seen in too long. "Skyler!" he called.

Heather Skyler turned her head. "Oh my god.." she muttered before she went over to her former CO. "Well John.. I didn't expect to see you here.." she commented. "and how is that hot wife of yours..?"

"Well Calliope is bored out of her mind on the Courageous," Burgoyne responded. "So.. what do you think of the new gear?"

"I think its great.." she responded cheerfully.

Meanwhile Zoka observed as the various Federation personnel unloaded from their shuttles and made their way over to the firing range. This time around it was First Major Eriys would be in charge of range operations, with Second Major Ahunei Namo standing in as the range Safety officer. Her Squad was to act as the range safety's. Also nearby was Lynn Kurkiv, whom was leading the R&D staff that will be there to provide instructions on all the weapons. Eriys was the one to announce to the crowd, "Everyone, I need all unit leaders to step forward please."

Burgoyne along with Skyler stepped forward, various platoon leaders and company leaders did likewise.

Lieutenant Michael Emerson smiled. "Well this should be good." he turned to the rest of the R&D guys nearby. "So... will we have enough new gear to cover all of this?"

Lynn gave him a look," That was a dumb question, the marines should have brought their gear with them."

Brianna moved forward. She gave Emerson a sideways look before motioning her command to close up on her.

Emerson sighed, he had forgotten that little detail as he decided to focus on the task at hand. "Oh... right." he sighed before he moved onto other matters.

Burgoyne took a seat on the large seating area while the other marines around him did likewise. Emerson turned to the range safety officer who was an grizzly bear anthro, who honestly looked downright impressive.. "I think everyone is here..." he commented to the being.

Ahunei stepped forward and announced to the group," Alright, now I don't know how the federation normally runs its ranges, but this is an Akurian range and your unit will abide by our safety rules. I am the range safety officer and you will obey my commands when on the firing line. Weapons will be on safe at all times unless on the firing line, and if your marines do anything stupid I will throw them off. Common sense rules when it comes to weapons safety, you will only fire when I give the clear, and if I order you to stop, you stop. Some animal or person wanders into the range, don't shoot it, just stop firing. Keep your personal shields turned on when on the firing range. And as I said, common sense rules, don't do anything stupid."

The various marines all sat silently and listened to what the massive being before them had to say. Emerson waited in silence until after Ahunei was finished. "Do you got any problems with my demonstration?"

Ahunei shook her head. "no you may go ahead with your demonstration."

Emersion nodded up at her. "Thanks" as with that he went to get set up, a few minutes later he was ready. "Alright guys... Can everyone hear me!" he called.

He got various responses back so he elected to press on. "I am sure that some of you are thinking you do not need to worry about catching ordinance anymore. You got armor and personal shields.... Well allow me to demonstrate why you keep your armor and shielding online at all times and your heads down.." and with that he took aim with his rifle and fired one round at the target in question.

The round have gone clean through the target, he then safetied his weapon before he lifted the item and took it over to the marines. "That was an Akurian model... about twenty percent better then ours.." Emerson explained. "Pass that along and show everyone why stupidity doesn't pay for itself." he commented.

One of the marines form 1/47 shouted," Hey Sternwald, maybe you should put on one of those armors and run out into the middle of the range, you can be our moving target." The marines comment elicited a few laughs from his fellow marines.

Sternwald looked back. "Fuck you! I'm important and your just some stupid meat shield. You don't mean shit to anyone you fucking pussy!" Sternwald screamed until he turned red.

Then The marine continued," Hey boys, I think he just said he has volunteered to be our first crash test dummy." Now most of the regiment that heard was laughing at Sternwald.

"You mother fucker!" Sternwald yelled. "Come over here so I can kick your pathetic ass all over this stupid world!"

The Tellarite Second Lieutenant Tallv Blaarinsh laughed," Ha, your balless ass couldn't kick the ass of the blowup doll that took your manhood last night."

"Fuck you porky!" Sternwald yelled back. "You would look better cooked with an apple in your mouth!"

Tallav laughed then gave Sternwald a lustful look, "mmm like how you talk to me like that, tell you what, meet me up at the ship tonight and i will try not to damage your mangina too much."

Sternwald looked at Tallav with disgust. "You are a disgusting and repulsive thing." He told him. "Your whole race is repulsive and disgusting. I have seen your females so I know that i would be an improvement over them."

Tallav gave an evil smirk," Well, lets see how you compare to your mom. She was quite talented last night." Marines started chanting," Fight Fight Fight."

"Insulting my parents? Oh how drool." Sternwald stated with disdain. "Did Star Fleet give you an officer's commission to stay out of prison?"

Emerson watched with great amusement before he snapped out of it. "Seriously... Is this ... how marines sort out their problems?"

Raskar growled in annoyance," This is how shithead marines solve their problems. We seem to have gotten a lot of them lately."

Sternwald looked around at the other marines. "You people just need to learn your place in the world. Most of your families are humble so I understand that this was the only path out of the ghetto for you. If you don't watch yourselves I have friends in command that could send you back to your cesspools."

Tallav gave off a loud laugh," Hey look marines, mr spoonfed baby thinks he is actually someone important, he thinks that because he still wears a sliver diaper that he is somebody speshul." The marines all broke out in laughter at that one. Tallav then turned to Sternwald. Fact it loser, you got sent to the shitty marine unit, so you got sent here because daddy considers you too retarded to be able to even wipe your own ass properly, so he sent you here that way so he can forget that the mistake that was you ever existed."

"You know how many times I have heard those insults?" Sternwald asked Tallav. "More than a dullard like you can count. At least I knew who my daddy was. Tell me lowlife, was your mother a whore that serviced factory workers or was she a juvenile that couldn't keep her underwear on around gangsters?"

Emerson looked on incredulous as he listened to the two men arguing back and forth, he had expected a fistfight before now but this was getting impressive, clearly the other marines thought so too.

Burgoyne was in no rush to break this up and neither was anyone else either.

Tallav casually shrugged off the insult," My mom is far more successful than that puny humie mom of yours could ever dream of, little man."

Ahunei at this point was utterly not impressed and Raskar finally lost his patience," Sternwald, Tallav, both of you, shut the fuck up."

"Oh look, the throw rug speaks." Sternwald stated with a smirk.

At that point Raskar completely forgot where he was and rushed at Sternwald, as did a dozen other Caitians, Shiar and Akurians immediately converged on Sternwald's position. Two other marines then grabbed Sternwalds arms to prevent him from escaping.

Sternwald shrieked in horror as he say the onrush of personnel. He passed out but was caught by Unx. Unx lifted the unconscious Sternwald and carried him over to Hausser and Hobbs. Unx then dropped him like a bag of potatoes onto the ground.

Hausser looked at Hobbs. "I ordered him to do that when if this fool started something."

Raskar was visibly infuriated, fur standing on end and his fangs bared, but he chose not to attack Sternwald, particularity after his nose picked up the foul stench indicating Sternwald had voided his bowls. Instead he let of a low growl and walked off in the other direction. Ahunei meanwhile approached Hobb's, saying. "I trust you are going to throw him off this range so I don't have to."

"Yes, he will be restricted to our training area for the time being." Hobbs replied sourly.

Ahunei nodded. "Very well, then if there are no further distractions, have your people line up to begin firing."

Burgoyne smiled. 'finally..' he thought to himself as he and everyone else got set up on the line before he lifted his rifle and got prepared, same as everyone else did while waiting for the command to open fire.

Once all the Safety's gave their indications and the targets appeared on the Range Ahunei gave the signal. "Fire when ready."

With that the various Federation marines began opening fire with the selected and prefered weapons at the designated targets down range.

Burgoyne took aim before he squeezed the trigger once, the round struck the target dead center, he then repeated the process once and the third shot was a little to the left.

Various other marines opened fire on their various targets.

Suddenly a Ferasian child ran out from behind one of the burms roughly 600 meters downrange, the child ran towards the edge of the firing range. Ahunei noticed immediately and called out," Cease Fire, CEASE FIRE!.

The Bastard of Bremer took aim and then pulled the trigger once, the round blasted from the front of his weapon and launched itself downrage however the round went wild and missed its target.

Everyone else had already safetied their weapons. "BREMER!" Burgoyne prepared at the top of his lungs. "What the fuck are you doing!" he added, now well and truly enraged.

"Missed!" Bremer responded as he went to cock his weapon for another shot, the trouble was that his rifle jammed.

Ahunei gave an extremely loud roar, then grabbed Bremers arm, crushing it, she then picked him up and hurled him off the firing range. After he landed Ahunei stomped over him and stepped on his groin, her claws going into his testicles," So you little shitstick, you like picking on children don't you," She then grabbed him by the throat and began choking him.

Bremer screamed loudly in agony. "Get off me, you over...grown...animal..." he gagged as he tried to breathe. "Leme... go!" he added or rather tried to add but what came out was a strangled cry.

Burgoyne came over. "Ahunei..." he said gently. "Don't kill him... I will deal with this one... myself." he said quietly as he looked down at the person in question. "Get up... She didn't hurt you that badly!"

"She tried to kill me!"

"You tried to shoot and kill a child.... I doubt anyone here will be in a merciful mood with you." Burgoyne responded before he reached down and yanked the Bastard of Bremer to his feet. "Stand at attention..." the Major snarled. "What do you have to say for yourself... before I punish you.!"

"The little shit shouldn't have been out there in the first place" Bremer responded.

"Thats irrelevant... When the man says 'stop'. You Stop. Is that clear enough for you?" Burgoyne responded. "You have a very bad habit if doing stupid shit... it ends now... or else!"

Bremer looked sullen but he nodded. "Yessir!"

"Good.." he turned to the massive being next to him. "Your two cents?"
