| Personal History | Michael Emerson was born in 2365, he was the second child to Paul and Shai Emerson, raised alongside his younger brother Martin and his younger sister Katrina on various deep space assignments, he never knew what a planet felt like until he was about twelve years old. A throwback to the old space boomers of the mid twenty second century as Michael never bothered to learn why Earth was so important. Needless to say, one of his teachers didn't like him because Michael said "Earth is just another planet, it's not the center of the universe as some say." Michael and this teacher didn't get along on any level whatsoever as the Human was a product of Human high culture that had been festering on Earth for decades. He also tried to fail Michael for his schoolwork, rather then get angry, he went to the school principal who as luck would have it, was an Andorian so the issue got sorted out quickly. Michael's first experience of living on a planet wasn't until he went off to the academy, he ran into the same human high culture which disgusted and offended him on every level, also around this time he met a fellow cadet named Alexa Sharpe who was mourning her dead father, the two of them were spending time together as he realized he loved her and before long they were married. He graduated with honors and was assigned to the USS Swords Aloft, together with his new wife, he welcomed first a set of twins and then a single child very quickly. While he did alright on this ship and after a couple of years followed by a promotion, he was offered a transfer to starbase 54 as one of their engineers, he jumped at the chance. He jumped at the chance, he became one of the department team leaders for the first time in his career, however for the second time he was separated from his wife and children this he was starting to find intolerable. He hated it but they both tolerated it for their respective careers. Husband and wife were reunited when they ended up serving together for their time together on the USS Century. Michael had missed his wife and while the two were reunited but it highlighted what they had and also their differences as things had changed between them. It took the two of them awhile to reconnect but they were able to save their relationship as Michael turned down a promotion and reassignment to remain with his wife as he decided he would not be parted from her for the second time. In early 2392. Michael was offered a posting on the USS Dreamcrusher as part of their research and development to help with the personnel shielding systems as well as the new hand held tactical weapons systems. He talked it over with his wife and the two accepted the assignment together, he was an engineer and she was an operations officer, but they both went for research and development. He was promotyed in early 2393 to the rank of Lieutenant Commander and was assigned as the Chief Engineer of the USS Oathsworn. |
