Mission:
Mission 105: The Mirror, Shattered
Location: Various Locations - Starfleet Command, Vega IX
Timeline: 0900Hrs - September 24th, 2393
The doors opened as Master Admiral Pasha Andreyev entered the large meeting room, as he entered, everyone who had already arrived rose to their feet in respect for the man who was entering the room and because of the position that he held. "Take a seat everyone and we can begin. What's on today's agenda?." he asked of the gathering.
"We've been trying to resolve various issues but the main bane of contention is that we need to send a small group to deal with that alternate reality, the one that keeps sending ships and resources trough to fuck with us, but they seem to do it in a rather ham-fisted way," M'Tala explained, the female Caitian was wearing only a necklace with a combadge on it and one set of six-star Admirals pips, as if they were a set of dog tags. Andreyev did not mind in how the Caitians handled uniform issues or concerns so long as they were respectful of others when they did it, being covered in fur was alright in itself but if they exposed body parts that were considered indecent, then it warranted attention, only then would he deal with the matter at hand.
"So, we'll send a couple of ships and deal with then once and for all?" Odahingum Veres asked lightly, she was also a Caitian female, only she was much fluffier, she was a different breed them T'Mala who was far larger then she herself was.
"Why not?" Grand Admiral AJ Chegwidden inquired, he was an older human who wore the look of a seasoned professional, he regarded Andreyev as he spoke. "The natives of that reality have done nothing short of sending armed strike teams and we keep nabbing them, they then want to defect and join up with us."
Jake Grafton, the present head of the Starfleet Corps of Engineers likewise nodded. "We should do something about this matter, we can't keep letting them attack us in this manner. Either we find a way to close the hole, or we send someone through and find out what they know on their end, maybe we can ensure they never bother us ever again."
Greg Turner smiled as he turned to face the Engineer. "What if the ship they are on is stranded over there?. Will they be able to get back home ever again?"
"Its a risk... But we've tried conventional weapons and even some specials, like tricobalt explosives. Nothing has worked." Grafton answered.
"It has to do with the gateways spatial matrix, it's extraordinarily stable but I think that's part of the design... Not even trilithium explosives could destroy it at present." Grafton paused. "But I have a plan to remedy that... But Admiral, I'd like for this armed strike force to proceed before we try it..."
"Mind if I ask why?" Andreyev inquired.
"Because its another reality..." Grafton answered. "We should find out more f who we are dealing with before they try this again... and we don't know where they connect to, it could be another area of our own galaxy... or worse... another galaxy..."
"Alright... What should their objectives be?" Andreyev inquired of the personel gathered before him. "I want to hear ideas... Information gathering is a good one... What else?"
"Maybe we can find a way to make peace with the leadership of their nation," Lu'Pal commented in her usual Vulcan tone of voice.
Bell regarded the Vulcan with a simple look which honestly, could have meant many things. "I disagree, they have shown no interest in getting along with us, for any reason whatsoever."
"But did we try talking... did we tell them anything they wished to hear from us?" This time, it was Chegwidden who spoke up.
Bell's answer was a simple shake of his head. "Not that I know of..." he paused as he let out a soft sigh. "But then I've not been keeping up with recent events concerning that reality," he admitted.
"It's academic..." Master Chief Petty Officer of Starfleet Nick Castle commented. "Its ultimately meaningless, a mission should be undertaken, as we've been acting from a position of weakness and we need to start dealing with matters from a position of strength," Castle added.
Walther took that moment to add in his two cents. "We know these guys are deceptive, cruel, treacherous. What's to stop our guys from falling into various traps.?"
"We will need to send a battleship that's been prepared for this mission," Turner commented. "A Kumari or a Kongo would be the better option..." He paused. "Either one or the other... we need to keep this effort small," he added. "But who to send?"
"Leave that with me... I will ask around but I have an idea of who I can ask." Fleet Admiral Rae Sloane was the weakest in the room in terms of rank but she was a Fleet Admiral and this was nothing to laugh at.
Andreyev smiled, he could see this meetings ending in sight. "Okay, then, we'll undertake a mission... Anything else we need to discuss..?"
There was silence. "Alright, dismissed. Thanks for coming." and with that, the meeting was over.
