| Personal History | Xavier Bell was born in 2342, in the country of South Africa on Earth. Both his parents who highly respected Surgeons encouraged him from a young age to pursue an education. At eighteen entered Starfleet Academy to study Science. In 2365, Bell graduated 4th in his class and was soon assigned aboard the USS Journey, an older Excelsior Class ship. Five years later, Lieutenant Xavier Bell was assigned to the USS Legend, a Galaxy Class starship as the Chief Science Officer, assigned to explore the newly discovered Gamma Quadrant. A year later, he pursued a relationship with a civilian who had been assigned to Medical as a Nurse then later a civilian doctor. In the 2373, Xavier and Stephanie were married and in the following found out that he's wife was pregnant with their first child. Due to the Dominion War all civilian personnel had to leave the ship as they prepared to battle the Dominion. At this time Xavier received a promotion to the rank of Commander. During the war, he missed the birth of his first son Xavier Jr. and wouldn't get to see his family in person again until after the war. In 2374, Xavier Bell was once again promoted, but this time to the posting of Executive Officer of Commander. He remained aboard the USS Legend and he found that not only did he enjoy it, he flourished here too but his ship was badly damaged in the last battle at Getha. He and his crew were forced to abandon ship for an uncertain fate but the vast majority of the escape pods made it to other units in the battlefield. With the end of the war with the Dominion, Xavier himself was offered a promotion to Captain and his own command. The USS Hera a Nebula Class. Captain Bell was strictly by the book, which as a result caused problems with him and his executive officer. Commander Kenneth Hunt. The two didn't get along for the first three months, but after finally having it out in captain's ready room they found a new found respect for on another and even became friends. In 2379, the crew of the Hera was instructed not to join with the rest of the second fleet to face the Borg. Captain Bell made a decision to disobey that direct order from Starfleet Command and proceeded to join the Fleet in facing the Borg. Though the battle was a success for Starfleet, the Hera suffered heavy causalities. Starfleet ordered for the USS Hera to report to the Deep Space Nine shipyard to spend the next three months being refitted. Many of the crew were transferred to other ships. Afterwards Captain Bell received a court martial for disobeying orders. Commander Hunt who stood by his commanding officers decision spoke on behalf of his Captain telling Starfleet that he supported Bell's decision to face the Borg. As a result Captain Bell was told that he would not be punished but he was given a warning for disobeying orders. Bell protested as Captain Picard had done the same seven years earlier during an earlier Borg attack and he was given a commendation for his actions. Bell was instead promoted to Commodore and sent back out into the field instead as command realized that it was overzealous in his prosecution. While all this occurred his wife gave birth to their child, their second girl named Leah after a family friend. Bell was asked to take command of the USS Pathfinder, the first of a new breed of starship and it was here where he developed the science variant of the Pathfinder which would later be designated as 'the Song of the East' variant. in 2383 he was promoted to command the Sixth Fleet's Science Division as he showcased his skills in administration, most who were science wanted only to explore where as Bell wasn't much of an explorer, he had seen enough to last a lifetime and he just wanted to settle down. Command when it learned of this only began to encourage him to want command, he had friends in places. in Late 2387 when the head of Starfleet Sciences submitted his retirement papers. Xavier was offered the posting as his successor. Xavier agreed and off he went. He has remained in this position to this day and somehow he has managed to avoid all of the issues that command is presently dealing with. |
