Mission:
Mission 105: The Mirror, Shattered
Location: Various Locations - Starfleet Command, Vega IX and Starbase 12
Timeline: 1200Hrs - September 24th, 2393
Fleet Admiral Rae Sloane smiled as she moved down the hallway, she brushed the blonde hair out of her eyes as she recalled that she needed to get her hair redone as the present do she was sporting was giving her no end of issues. Sloane dismissed the notion as she smiled while entering her office. "Hey, any messages for me?"
"Two Admiral, I didn't read the text as both were marked top secret but I noted that one of them required your attention right away, I placed both on your desk." the yeoman answered, the young Bolia male nodded to her before he handed her a PADD. "Also, I have your four emails on this PADD, ready for your perusal."
"Very nice, Thank you Baxx," she commented with a gentle smile, she had been working hard to improve her relationships with others, one of those was not losing her temper at random times and the other was not always being so prickly all the time, she didn't need to get defensive on matters of state or anything else, all she had to do was stand and listen, then take a moment and think it over, then decide. It had taken her a great deal to get to this point.
"Your welcome Admiral. Your next appointment is in two hours... With Grand Admiral M'Tala. I am not sure of why. I can look into it, should you wish?" The Bolian regarded her as if he was expecting her to demand what the Caitian wanted and that he should start immediately.
"No Baxx, don't worry about it. I'll address the good Admiral and handle her needs as they come..." she gently ran her nails over the PADD in her hand. "I'll attend to these but could you ask the com center to get me a real-time transmission to Grand Admiral April Yamaguchi, over on Starbase 12. I would speak with her regarding events of state..."
Sloane smiled as she regarded the Bolian before her. "You're not going to ask me why?"
"Not my place ma'am, if you wanted me to know why you'd tell me." The Bolian answered in an even tone of voice.
"Fair enough Baxx. I will tell you once the issue has handled, resolved and dealt with, alright?"
Baxx knew that this was a rather odd turn of events for her to say but of her four original yeomen, he was the only one who had remained with her, the rest had all demanded reassignment from her over the course of the last year or so, what's more, he was the one who had taken her aside and had explained to her the errors of her ways and the like, she had surprised him by taking seriously what he had to say on the matter. "That sounds good to me Admiral," he answered quietly.
"Alright. I will tend to matters with Admiral Yamaguchi first."
Baxx processed that detail. "I'll get you that comline from the com center. The male Bolian answered.
"Thanks." and with that, she went into the office that was truly hers, before she went over to her desk. She set down the PADD before she ordered herself something to drink. Sloane retrieved the drink as the com system beeped. "Admiral. I have that connection for you."
Sloane smiled as she went over to the wall monitor. "go ahead and route it to my wall monitor."
With that, the face of Grand Admiral April Yamaguchi appeared, she looked tired which according to many that knew her, being tired was a normal state of affairs for Yamaguchi these days. "Hello, Admiral. Is this transmission secure on your end.?"
Yamaguchi raised an eyebrow, for Sloane to be asking this meant something was going on, she gently tapped several keys on the display pad nearby. "It is now. What can I do for you Rae?" Yamaguchi asked, she sounded tired too.
"I'd like to borrow one ship from your command, something large... a Guardian perhaps..." she paused. "Command wants to undertake a mission to that alternate reality that keeps fucking with us... We can't collapse the gateway so we'd like to find out what they know about it and then maybe we can collapse it with what they know."
"Mmmm.. Very wise," Yamaguchi answered quietly. While she ran a hand over her jawline. "A lot of the ships, commands, and bases under my command have been pressed hard over the last year and I don't have a lot available... But I know who might..."
Sloane paused as she regarded the other woman. "Oh... Who?"
"Starbase Vanguard, they have three capital class ships assigned to their command, in addition to about twenty or so other ships, all assigned to patrol and protect the Cantrel Sector from hostile forces," Yamaguchi explained. "I can pass it along to them as I need to speak with Heather Duval anyway on an unrelated matter. I'll pass along your request to them as well."
"Would you mind terribly?" Sloane inquired.
"Nah, it'll be fine." Yamaguchi suddenly smiled. "Besides, I've not seen my brother in way too long, this will give me an excuse to fix that... Thank you Admiral, for your time and your candor." as the tired woman smiled at the blonde woman.
"No problems, thank you for yours. Sloane out." and with that, she terminated the transmission and now the issues facing this assignment were no longer her worry or concern. Sloane smiled as now that request would be taken care of and she had not expected Yamaguchi to over to handle it for her.
