Mission: Mission 94: Shattered Shields and Crack'd Swords
Location: Various Locations - USS Valhalla
Timeline: Sept 7, 2392

Matilda gave Riversky a cold look but sat down without protest. Riversky then grabbed a stack of PADD's and began passing them around," Alright, now that we are all here, I have your next orders. 1st Independent battle group is still assembling, so it is going to be engaged in fleet exercises until the first of February. Some ships may be tasked out with short duration missions, but for the most part, the battle group will be in fleet exercises until it is done organizing. So if you have people who still want to take extended leave time, now is the time." she paused. "However, some of the people in this room will be reassigned out of IFO in the next month, those of who will need to help your replacements settle into their offices before you all leave, those leaving are being reassigned to the Taurus Reach efforts. Those are being headed up by Fleet Admiral Heather Duval with Admiral Jake Yamagfuchi serving as her Exec." she explained. "If there are any questions then you can ask them at the end of the meeting, we do have some additional ground to cover first."

The various Admirals around the room nodded as they processed that little detail. "Fair enough. I'll make myself down for extended leave as I have not seen my children for far too long." Johnson responded in a flat tone of voice.

Siranna's ears rotated as she regarded him. "Familial troubles?"

"I miss my wife and my children," Johnson responded quietly.

Masters shook his head. "He wanted to leave time and was told no." he clarified. "Which is bullshit, to be honest."

Dessaix observed the exchange. She glad that she had let Siranna take a few weeks off before coming back.

Siranna nodded her head. "I know I would be very unhappy if denied leave time with my kits and mate," she explained. "I can certainly understand why you are upset."

Masters nodded. "There we are."

Caldwell smiled. "It could always be worse you know. There could be no leaves fleetwide."

Srall then continued, "Well, FYI, chances are, after February, there is going to be little opportunity for leave. as IFO will be assigned to an extended mission within Romulan republic territory. I don't have all the information on how long we may be there, could be a few months, could be up to a year.

Masters turned to Johnson. "Best tell all the boys and girls that if they want to leave time, book it RFN."

"Yup. It is noted." Johnson answered

"Is that wise. I mean keeping all the personnel under you at their posts for that length of time?" Dawn Veres inquired.

"Objection noted." Julian Yeager responded a soft bass growl issued forth from him rather than a normal voice.

"Interesting accent, where you from anyway?" Caldwell inquired.

"Lots of different places," Yeager responded. "I grew up on a starbase with an ear for accents. Lucky me I guess." he intentionally changed his accent four times as he spoke.

Caldwell noted the changes in Yeager's accent as he spoke. "You did that on purpose."

"Yup."

Srall then continued on with business, ignoring the distraction, "Also we might be working with an OISU task force as well, however, their presence is not guaranteed for this operation yet. However, if they are going to be present, then they will likely participate in the January Battlegroup exercise."

Caldwell raised an eyebrow. "You don't mind my asking Admiral." he began in a tone that said she should very much mind what he was about to say. "What are the OISU or whatever they are called. What their long-term goals?" he inquired. "Considering we know very little about them and we've never encountered them before."

Various people all turned to regard Caldwell. "Why do you ask?" Vaxx-Warfield inquired of him.

"Well. It's simple, we know very little about yet should they turn on us, we could find ourselves facing a very dangerous enemy that's already got a foothold in Federation space." Caldwell argued his point.

Yeager raised an eyebrow. He in truth had not seen this argument coming. "If they were hostile. I think they would have had the time already to turn on us."

"That does not mean anything, I think we should get to know them better before we start letting them go wherever the hell they want inside Federation space."

"If the OISU was so keen on invading us," Sr'all pointed out," Then why did they risk their lives to rescue 7 billion of my people from Klingon slavery, why did they fight alongside us in the Gorn conflict, why are they helping us with the Borg crisis, and asking for nothing in return."

Caldwell opened his mouth but Yeager beat him to it. "Stephen. You are being unfair to the OISU reps in the room. You simply don't know them so give them some time to prove their good intentions."

"You heard all that from your wife," Caldwell answered.

"I should not have to tell you this because you are seeing enemies everywhere. These guys didn't kill Kathyrn."

"We have a rather poor track record of allies. I do not know the OISU, nor have I ever worked with any of them." Caldwell narrowed his eyes as Vaxx-Warfield intervened. "There are two people in here that are not only in Starfleet but are from the OISU. Zuko and Kumirae," she explained.

Caldwell shifted his attention from Yeager as he regarded Zuko in silence for a moment. "Very well. We shall see what the OISU brings to the table in their dealings with the Federation. Besides, they are the best allies we've ever had, or they could be the most useless allies ever. Who knows... They sure will need to work to replace the present holder of that title, being the most useless allies ever."

"Who's the present holder?" Orthos inquired.

"The Klingons," Caldwell answered. "Besides. I highly doubt the OISU could be anywhere near that bad."

Yeager raised an eyebrow. "Stephen. They have already proved themselves when they worked alongside us to liberate the Gorn. They did not need to get involved but they did and they are also taking the lead with attempting to deassimilate a half a billion Borg drones. We don't have that capability and they sure do not need to do it but they are. I think they are worthy of your respect if you give them nothing else.."

"We shall see, old friend."

"Indeed we will," Yeager responded. "I think you need to spend time getting to know the Akurians on a one on one basis. Believe me, on this, it'll do wonders for your stress levels and your blood pressure." he smiled. "I've never worked with them but I try to keep an open mind."

Either way, the Federation government has already engaged in talks with the OISU, so we should get the results soon enough," Riversky mentioned.

Caldwell shrugged. "We shall see.." he tapped the PADD once. "Let's move on, shall we?"

"This is all I really have for you right now," Riversky finished. "When we get more details about upcoming assignments I'll be sure to let you all
know."

Caldwell nodded in silence, he assumed the meeting would be ending in a moment as he remained seated. Yeager raised an eyebrow. "Okay. All of this sounds relatively straightforward. Anything else to discuss?"

Dumford stood up and addressed Parks. "I think I speak for everyone here when I say that it will be an honor to be in your command and look forward to you straightening out the battle group."

Sildra Vaxx-Warfield nodded her head but she saw no reason to question what Dumford was saying.

Dessaix kept quiet. Dumford's actions confirmed that he was a bootlicker. She just hoped his leadership skills matched his ego.

Caldwell watched in silence with a rather amused grin on his face as he turned to Yeager. "I owe you lunch Julian."

Yeager turned his head. "Yes. You do," he answered but the fact he hesitated indicated that he had no idea as to why he was owed lunch.

Vaxx-Warfield blinked her eyes. "Mind if I tag along?"

Yeager nodded as Caldwell shrugged. "Sure, by my guest," he added a moment later.

As Soon as Riversky left, Kumirae made the comment, "Dumford, maybe you should be a little less obvious with your sucking up."

"So, was anything I said untrue?" Dumford asked Kumirae. "Do you not think that Admiral Parks will do a great job?"

Kumirae gave Dumford a look, "Really, I could tell from the moment he walked in that Parks is worthless. The man hasn't been out on a ship since he was a lieutenant commander, and I guarantee you, he is going to be on the next shuttle back to the starbase and he won't do crap."

"That's not what I heard," Dumford replied. "The old guard back at STHQ want him here to put their own stamp of approval on things. He has worked his way through the system and seen the guys who really run Star Fleet as reliable."

Caldwell finally broke down before he started laughing. "Oh, fucking hell. This assignment is gonna be hilarious." he got out between bursts of laughter. "Oh wow.. Why are you here wasting our time with this endless garbage?"

Dumford sighed. "I wasn't expecting you line officers to understand how command actually worked. It's like trying to train Vebarrian monkeys astrophysics."

"Oh really," Kumirae retorted, "Please, you desk jockeys couldn't find the command chair on a ship even if you had a map, flashlight, compass, and detailed directions."

"That's because those of us with any intellectual prowess doesn't get put on ships wandering the vastness of space. We are using our brains to defend the Federation, not brute force." Dumford replied.

Caldwell raised an eyebrow. "Okay, please stop talking now," he commented. "Or I will resort to using brute force," he added. "Wait. Did I forget the please in there somewhere?"

Vaxx-Warfield regarded Dumford. "I don't think I can stop him from demolishing your ugly assed face." she paused. "I'm doing it again." the Bolian female commented.

Yeager sighed softly. "I wish my wife was here for this one, she's going to die laughing when I tell her just what sort of an imbecile you truly are."
