Mission: Mission 94: Shattered Shields and Crack'd Swords
Location: Starfleet Command
Timeline: July 11th, 2392

With the way our technology is progressing," Alegos admitted," Even the Asguard class is too small to serve as a monitor. At best it would make it as an armored patrol vessel."

"One thing we could do," Kurso suggested," is transfer all of Starfleet's defiant class starships to the SDF and have them retrofitted into being interceptor patrol craft. They have become too small for regular Starfleet service anyway and are due to be retired from the active fleet anyway."

Pasha Andeyev nodded. "Once I get back to my little den of sin. I'll draft those orders. Also The Valiant class which was intended to be the replacement can be handed over, also the old Sabres and Norways can go as well. What about the old Steamrunners?"

"They can go as well," Kurso answered

Andreyev nodded. "Works for me. Anything older then ten years, if it can be spared, then it can go. We have thousands of new ships under construction and we will have the people to crew them when they become available."

"Which brings me to the next order of business," Zeyss continued. "The Federation Council has decided to do some restructuring of the command system. We are no longer going to divide by Alpha and beta quadrant commands anymore. Rather, Starfleet, Fighter Force, Marines and the new SDF will operate in four super sector commands." he paused. "The postings will remain... But they will have two Grand Admirals answering to them... April, ou'll have two and Julia, you will also have two."

Various people began trading looks around the table. "Who will have the four commands?" Yamaguchi inquired. "Have they already been selected or no?"

Zeyss indicted the two Vulcan fleet admirals in the room. "That's why I have Admiral McKnight and Admiral T'huk in the room. You two are my top picks for two of the four commands. You'll need to select two more yourselves."

McKnight nodded. "Thank you Mister President," she answered simply, before she smiled, it wasn't a large or wide smile but it was enough.

"In addition to these new positions," Zeyss continued," The council has also authorized two new ranks to be created, the rank of Grand Admiral and Master Admiral. The SDF, Fighter Force and Marine Corps will also get their equivalents. As it stands right now, the council has authorized fourteen Starfleet Grand Admirals, ten Marine Grand Generals, five fighter force Grand Marshals and five SDF Grand Admirals." Zeys turned his attention to Falcon Pet and Hawas. "Both of you will also be given the rank of Grand Director-General and Grand Inspector General respectively." He then turned back to the other officers. "For now, the grand ranks will be given to each of the various military leaders of the four supersectors and the branch CiC."

Yamaguchi nodded, she quickly processed the news. "Okay." she commented evenly. "When does all of this take effect sir?" she addressed the President.

"The orders," Zeyss replied. "Take effect now. As for the actual reorganization process, I expect this will take up to 6 months. But all your promotions are taking effect immediately."

April Yamaguchi raised an eyebrow as she had been a Fleet Admiral for barely a year or so but she had been an Admiral for less than the normal time as well, because she had been selected for the assignment to Commanding Officer, Starfleet Forces, Beta Quadrant, when the posting had been created three years earlier.

Zeyss then had his aides hand out some PADDs while he explained. "Alright and as for the headquarters for each supersector. First supersector command will be headquartered out of Starbase 12 and New Holland. The second will be headquartered out of Starbase 105. the third will be headquartered out of Starbase 406 in the Cait system, and fourth will be headquartered out of Starbase 460. Do keep in mind as the military continues to grow, we will likely establish more supersector commands." he paused. "The first we would establish is the Taurus Reach. Due to the Starfleet buildup in that region."

Antilles nodded. "That's more or less inevitable Mister President," he responded lightly. "What of the forthcoming expedition to the Delta Quadrant?" he inquired.

"All exploration missions have been canceled since May," Zeyss affirmed, "That hasn't changed, and it's not likely to change until Starfleet has more ships and that's taking awhile.."

Antilles nodded, in silence as Yamaguchi sighed but didn't say anything. Greg Turner decided to interrupt. "What about Starfighter Command?" he inquired. "How do we address their critical shortage of people?"

"A number of member worlds have agreed to transfer their fighter forces into the Federation fighter corps" Zeyss explained. "The Bajorans, Caitians, Aurelians, Tellarites, Zakdorns, Bolians, and over a hundred other member worlds have transferred a significant portion of their fighter forces into the Federation fighter corps. Once this transfer is complete, which should take about four to six months, due to various requirements for training and equipment. the fighter corps will be at least eight times the size it is now. Plus all these member worlds and a number of others have agreed to loan their training facilities to the fighter force, and they have begun an extensive amount of recruiting."

Myzar pointed out one issue. "However this doesn't address the shortage of Marshal's that I am dealing with. Plus many of the Marshals that I do have are inexperienced at best at being flag officers."

Antilles nodded his head. "Okay, so any thoughts on how to address it then?" he inquired. "Sounds like lateral transfers from other services... Any carrier commanders should be considered, or we can recruit directly from other sources."

"Pretty much," Myzar replied. He then looked at his Padd then looked to Antilles. "Speaking of, you yourself have experience with fighter and carrier tactics, you wrote a good chunk of combat doctrine during the Dominion War, much of which is still used to this day..." the Caitian paused. "How would you feel about taking one of the grand marshal positions?."

Antilles raised an eyebrow as he regarded Myzar. "My experience is extremely limited. I would be a liability, not a help."

"You have the experience where it counts for a marshal," Myzar explained. "Being a marshal doesn't require a good pilot, but what I need is someone with flag experience, as most of the marshals that I have badly lack it."

Antilles regarded the Caitian male in silence for a moment, as he considered it. Zinov had a couple of points. "Alright. I can do that," he commented quietly. "Do I get to select my command or do you have one in mind for me?"

"All four of the major command spots are open, so take your pick," Zinov answered.

Antilles paused. "Alright. I'll take the Second command," he responded. "I had developed some of my starfighter tactics to counter the Klingons," he answered. "I can further my efforts as needed."
