Operation Bedlam: The Briefing

Mission: Mission 44: Operation Bedlam
Location: Various Locations - USS Argonne
Timeline: 0800Hrs - October 6th 2391

The briefing room on the Argonne was filled with officer trying to find their seats. The room was darkened a little and Captain Ryngwyth stood up on a dais.

"Hello." Ryngwyth told the assembled officers. "We are gathered for the briefing on upcoming operations." The holographic projector came to life and several spheres which were obviously planets appeared.

"This is the Lobox System. Our objective is Lobox VII. Lobox VII is a cold and dry world with a thin atmosphere." Ryngwyth told them. "It is here Star Fleet Intelligence has discovered a cache of stolen alien weapons. The weapons were stolen by a group of Orions. They have built a stronghold on the planet which is guarded by about two hundred Reman mercenaries and about a dozen Orion overseers."

"Our mission is to neutralize this outpost and retrieve the stolen technology. The Argonne; destroyer flotilla that includes the Ericsson, Akatsuki, Fairfax, Miami; and the Akurian vessel with provide fire support on the stronghold. The marines, escorted by fighters off the Argonne, will make planetfall and make a ground assault on the compound. The Tranquility will be there for casualty evacuation."

"I cannot implore how important it is that we retrieve the technology in good condition and not let the Orions or Romulans keep these." Ryngwyth told them.

"Are there any questions about the orbital assault before I turn this over to Lieutenant Colonel Hobbs?"

Ryyukei, whom was the current acting commander of the Akurian Battlecruiser Ryazar's Shield, added," Also it may be worth noting, keep an eye out for Federation Transphasic shielding technology, the Romulans have stolen that as well."

Carrie Hawkwood who was commanding the Ericsson added. "We should watch for enemy ships orbiting or incoming reinforcements."

"Well. This will be intresting... If nothing else." Lorne slowly smiled as he lifted his sunglasses back to his face. Even though there was no need for him to wear them he habitually did.

Ryngwyth nodded to Ryyukei. "Thank you." She then looked to Hawkwood, "The Ericsson will go out on picket duty. The Miami will act as escort to the Tranquility. The two destroyers should be aware that they may needed to add to the fire support mission."

Ryngwyth then handed over the briefing to Hobbs. "Good morning. This is a display of the stronghold." the holographic display changed to show a ground installation. There was a ring of phaser batteries around the stronghold.

Captain Weichang will command the weapons company. They will provide fire support with mortars and heavy phasers. They will also secure the landing zone.

"After the perimeter is breached Captain Shultz along with 3rd Company will assault the perimeter of the stronghold and secure the entrance. They will hold this position as the other two elements pass through their lines." Hobbs told them.

"Major Ruhr and the 1st Company will find the command and control element shown here on the display." Hobbs "They will fight through these four check points here, here, and here. This is the stronghold headquarters here."

"Captain Tienn and 2nd Company will attack with the last element. Their objective is to seize the vault and secure the stolen technology. Once they have secured the vault the items will be transported back to the Akurians."

"Captain Hargrove and 4th Company will stay in reserve. They will be feed in if needed." Hobbs said.

Captain Tienn listened in silence, her leave time had been canceled for this operation as she knew that Daisy Rohr had been recalled as well.
She knew her sister was recovering well from what had happened a couple of months earlier aboard the USS Roanoke and while she had been looking forward to spending a little time with her, she understood why she couldn't.

Lt Commander Siaxx Dvald was present too, she was wearing the red uniform rather then the blue one which contrasted rather nicely with her blue skintone. "My people will be ready for the casualties of this operation.."

Wukari also then added," Also we have started to rebuild Roanoke's fighter wings, some of our replacement fighters have come in and some of our pilots have been training on them, I talked with Ryuukei earlier, and we should be able to supply an additional four wings of Gryphons and a wing of Scorpions, and they will be flying out of the Akurian battlecruiser's hangar. flight Major Tony Raynor will be leading this group, and he will be under Flight Commander Aleksei Sergeyev."

Aleksei sergeyev nodded, then asked," What kind of anti fighter defenses can we expect the base to have."

Ryngwyth stepped up. "There are four anti air defense pylons located around the stronghold. They should be destroyed in the preliminary bombardment and play no part in the fight."

Akesei nodded while Ryuukei added, "There might be hidden anti fighter missile silo's present though, plus they might have MANPADS of some kind as well. We still have some drones left in our hangar bay, so we will conduct a drone overflight first to try and get a full picture of whats there."

"Also the Destroyer Escorts will keep an eye on the area and we will supply information as we obtain it..." Lorne commented with a smile.
"We can also supply small scale bombardments as indicated."

Ryngwyth acknowledged Lorne. "Thank you. Now, unless there are any questions you are all dismissed."
