Mission: Mission 41: The Changing of the Guard
Location: Various Locations - USS Roanoke
Timeline: 0900Hrs - August 28 2391

Teval and Hakaya both walked into sickbay with the little dachshund puppy following them. Teval was holding on the leash. Walking over to where Zara was resting, Teval gently picked up the puppy and put her on Zara's chest, where the puppy promptly began to lick Zara's face. "We brought you a little gift Zara."

She was adorable. Cream-colored with light brown spotting throughout it's coat. And she was shy too, which Zara did not mind at all. For she began to gently put her hand out for the puppy to sniff.

"He's adorable," Zara finally laughed, though she hated to do that when she did. With the symbiont freshly in her again, jarring her abdomen with a laugh reminded her of that slight discomfort.

Teval nodded, "Yeah, she is female by the way, but yeah, we recovered her from Crazy Horse. Along with a lot of other Animals. Anyway, I figured you needed something to cuddle other than me or my sister."

Zara fought for words for a moment before she spoke slowly. Her eyes read right and left like she were searching for words in her mind. "Thank you... I feel... I feel... touched."

Teval nodded then walked over to Nalla's lab and poked his head inside, finding her in there, "Hey Nalla, we brought Zara a puppy. So you mind if the puppy stays with her while she recovers."

"So long as it does not disturb other patients, sure," Nalla agreed, but quickly added, "However, she is in no condition to exercise the dog regularly. Her stamina has been greatly altered from her imprisonment. So she will need someone to care for it the next few days."

Teval nodded, "Yeah, that's fine, either me, Hakaya or Tom will drop by every few hours or so to walk the dog and feed her. We will keep an eye on it."

"Has the puppy had its shots?" Nalla asked as she looked down and rubbed her therapy dog Roscoe's ears.

Teval shook his head, "To be honest, I rather doubt it."

"I will write an order for its Parvo booster and first-year Rabies vaccine then," Nalla nodded as she rolled on her stool over to the empty counter top on the left wall and pulled a PADD out of her drawer. "You may want to ask Captain Tane what to name it, before she goes back to sleep."

Teval nodded, then went to go retrieve the dog's bed and food bowl, while Hakaya stayed and chatted with Zara, "So, what are you going to call her."

"...Cleo," Zara thought and fought hard to say after the long silence. But her frustration was quickly forgotten when the puppy started to suckle on her finger.

Hakaya gave Cleo a rub then said, "Yeah I have been through what you just went through Zara, its not a nice place. No one deserves that kind of treatment."

"I wasn't..." Zara paused and started again, "I wasn't... good to you much."

Hakaya didn't know what to say on the matter so just remained silent. A minute later Teval showed up, carrying the dog bed, a fleece blanket, and the food and water bowl. After setting them down, he then jumped over to Hakaya and cuddled her, while she gave off a purr in response.

"Where's..." Zara thought of the word for a moment and struggled to get it out while Cleo nestled herself in Zara's arms, "Ta-ta-torilla?"

The door opened and in walked Jake Yamaguchi. "Lo Nalla. Hows things hon?" he addressed the Doctor with a smile.

"Captain Tane is no longer critical, though she will be a few days before she can leave Sickbay," Nalla informed as she pointed to Zara on a biobed, close by Nalla's office. "Tane was the worse off. Severe contusions that I speculate are from beatings... Zara suffered no lasting neural trauma, but it will take a few months before her speech is normalized."

"I understand." Jake responded. "Fine work guys." he added. "Nalla... mind if I borrow all your people for a moment. I got some news I need to share with everyone... but if you don't then I'll let you brief them later.."

"Of course," Nalla agreed. "But it is imperative you not excite Captain Tane. Her symbiont has been through an extensive physical ordeal and as such, I do not want her laughing for the next week or so until the post-op swelling in the abdomen is reduced."

Jake nodded as he smiled at her with a measure of affection. "Fine work Nalla.. make sure you document everything for Admiral Nechayev's court marshal.." he didn't need to say it but he wanted her to know. "Nechayev has been relieved of her command once and for all... she's not getting out of this one."

"All medical personnel report to my office at once, Doctor Furban out," Nalla spoke as she hit her combadge.

Sokanon mewled softly. "Mmm... I'm on my way." as the sleepy Caitian female dragged herself out of bed as she disentangled herself from Werner before she began to dress.

Fordring turned as she made her way over to the CMO's office, along with the rest of them. Jake watched the two dozen or so people gather.
He waited for her to give him leave as these were her people rather then just go ahead.

"Admiral Yamaguchi wanted to to address this department so please give him your undivided attention," Nalla spoke and stepped aside to give him the floor.

"Thank you Nalla." Jake responded. "I wanted you all to hear from me first.. rather then the scuttlebutt which I am sure will be supercharged by the rumor that's coming." he paused. "Admiral Nechayev has been relieved of her command and she's also been arrested on various charges. Including various counts of abuse and of Kidnapping." he explained. "You've all helped to make justice possible for Captain Tane and the others falsely imprisoned by Admiral Nechayev.

Sokanon blinked her large eyes. "Admiral Nechayev... is gone?"

"She is yes." Jake responded with a smile.

"The Admiral has asked we document everything with the injuries to Tane and Zara," Nalla spoke to her people. "Every complication that may rise from Captain Tane's kidnapping, is to be reported. Ambassador Blon made it very clear to me that the Symbiosis Commission will seek criminal charges against Admiral Nechayev for the damage done to one of their oldest symbionts."

Yamaguchi sighed. "Alright. thank you guy for your time." and with that he turned to Nalla. "Keep me informed of the Captain.." and with that he took his leave and departed.

"I shall," Nalla promised and looked to her medics, "I appreciate all of your hard work and thank you all for your time."

Sokanon smiled. "This was worth getting out of bed for... Thank you Admiral..."

"No worries guys.. I wanted to be the one to share this news with you... I doubt JAG will be able to nail her for everything but we got her for various crimes.."

Nalla simply nodded, for she did not know if she was supposed to say anything else.

Jake regarded the medical personel before him. "Thank again, all of you for your time." and with that he turned and departed in silence.
