Yoshi found an opening, "Transporter room transport them to the freighter," Yoshi ordered. "Once they are aboard the freighter raise shields and start firing on the Orion ship." Yoshi stated looking around. "Understood," came ops.
"Do we at least impulse?" She asked her helmsman?
"Impulse yes it's a little sluggish but I can get us to three quarters impulse, anything after that and we're out of luck I'm afraid. Warp engines are down, though I wouldn't advise going to warp anyway with the nacelle gone. It's doable but it'll be... problematic."
"Good," She replied as they started firing and moving slowly to help the Courageous. She wondered what the Orion Captain was thinking now. But kept up the fight.
"How's it coming over there Captain Ruhr?" Yoshi asked over the comm to check on the rescue team.
Freighter
After the away team was beamed aboard the Freighter, Commander David Webb turned to Captain Ruhr, "We'll split into 2 teams. Yours will search the Aft half and mine will search the Fore half. Pick your team, everyone else with me."
"Yes Commander." Daisy replied and turned to the marines. "Corporal Dillon, take Wong and Montoya. Make sure to the Commander stays in one piece." Dillon gave the thumbs up to Ruhr. "Singh, Werner, and Amlari go with me." She turned again to Commander Webb. "We'll sweep through the cargo area and secure engineering."
"We'll sweep the Medical Bay and living quarters and secure the Bridge," David confirmed as he took Dillon, Wong and Montoya to check their side of the ship.
"Amlari, take point. Singh, use your tricorder and look for life forms." Daisy ordered. Ryi turned a gave a look of uncertainty but turned around and moved ahead of the four. They quickly sweep the corridors and entered the dimly lit cargo bay. They quietly moved among the large cargo containers. The Andorian female lifted her left fist which froze the team in place. Daisy crept up to Ryi.
"I heard something." Ryi whispered to Daisy.
Daisy looked back at Singh. He nodded yes and pointed in the direction of a cargo container. The team moved slowly up. Werner, holding his assault phaser in his right hand and pointed with his left. Daisy looked and saw a pair of boots. Daisy gave a quick nod to Werner. He slung his weapon and grabbed a boot in each hand. In one motion he pulled a a Bolian in khaki coveralls out from underneath the container.
"Oh please don't hurt me!" The Bolian cried out. He opened his eyes and looked a little shocked. "Your Federation?" he asked tentatively.
"Yes." Daisy responded. "Where do think the rest of your crew are?" She asked.
"They decided to hole up in engineering. The Orions though! They were trying to break in." the crewman told them.
"Thank you. Stay hidden for now." Daisy told him as her team started to move out.
"But how will I know when it's safe?" the Bolian asked.
"When the shooting stops." Werner answered facetiously.
They moved along the corridors and the evidence of fighting was more and more blast marks on the walls. Ahead a pair of twisted doors were open. Amlari prowled up on them then signaled the rest of the team forward. As the marines gathered around the doors for cover Daisy looked into the engineering room.
Several Bolians were sitting on the floor. Surrounding them were several pink Orions with guns leveled at them. An ornately dressed pink Orion was flanked by a large, badly scarred, green Orion. They had another Bolian next to them on his knees.
"Tell us the access code please." the well dressed Orion politely asked the Bolian. The man on his knees balked in anguish. "Very well," the Orion stated then looked at the scarred Orion "bring that small female over here. Beat her until he decides to talk."
The green Orion had an evil grin on his face as he headed towards the prisoners.
"Now!" Daisy yelled as the marines entered the chamber, guns blazing. The pirates went down fast. Ruhr shot the leader as he attempted to draw his saber. The scarred green one dodged the fire and headed deeper into the engine room. Amlari took off after him.
"Singh, you and Werner secure the pirates." Ruhr ordered and Singh nodded in affirmative. Daisy ran after Amlari.
The Andorian moved around the confined pipes and metal works. It was if the Orion simply disappeared. Then the Orion jumped out and landed behind Amlari. She turned but he already grabbed her assault phaser. Holding the weapon, he flung her against a bulkhead. He fired and Amlari was grazed as she tried to dodge out of the way.
Daisy swung her phaser like a club upon the Orion's shoulder. The weapon broke apart and the Orion cried out in pain. He swung around and butt stroked Daisy's face. Ruhr fell backed with blood flowing from her mouth. The Orion tried the same attack again but Daisy caught the weapon. As the two struggled over the rifle the Orion slowly over powered Daisy.
"I'm gonna crush you." he bellowed.
Daisy gave the Orion a head butt. Receiving a head butt from a Klingon is never a pleasant thing, even from a half Klingon. The Orion stumbled back. He was stunned and his face covered in blood. Daisy quickly gave him a kick to the knee. He fell and she kept kicking him while he was down.
"I think he's done" Amlari struggled to say. She was on her side, wounded.
Daisy stopped. "Yes" she replied. Yoshi's voice came over her comm badge. "Engineering secured" Daisy answered.
Joe monitored the comm traffic of the away team. They seemed to be doing pretty good over there.
Freighter - Away Team 2
David led Dillon, Wong and Montoya around the corridors of the ship, moving around silently to avoid detection. One corridor had a couple Orions in it that turned a corner. David signaled Wong and Montoya using military hand signals to relay his plan. Then walked careless passed the corridor the Orions turned down.
"HEY!" yelled an Orion as they turned around to pursue David. David played dumb as he turned around and held up his arms. The senior of the two Orions said chuckling, "You shouldn't have wandered this ship alone."
"Who said I was alone?" David asked and on cue Wong and Montoya popped around their corners and shot down the Orions. The team hurriedly locked the Orions in a nearby closet before proceeding to check the crew quarters.
They split into teams of two. Each team entering each doorway with each member drawing their weapon in each direction. The word "Clear" echoed throughout their search for surviving crew of the freighter. David and Wong came across a female Bolian raising her arms, "Don't shoot, don't shoot."
"We're Starfleet," David identified themselves.
She calmed down at hearing that and looked between them, "Starfleet?!?! Thank the maker."
David asked, "Is there anyone else here?" She shook her head.
Dillon and Montoya returned to them, "The other quarters are empty, Sir."
"Let's move to the Med-bay," David ordered. He looked at the Bolian woman, "LOCK the doors behind us and hide until we let you know it's all over."
"Thank you," she replied. David nodded as he led his team to their next objective.
They made their way to the Freighter's medical bay only to find it torn apart. The patients killed by disruptor fire and no sign of the Doctor.
"Their all patients... where's the Doctors?" asked Dillon.
"Probably rounded up with the other healthy captured crew. A Doctor would bring great profit in the slave market," David replied. After surveying the medical bay he ordered, "Nothing more we can do here. Let's move to secure the bridge. Once we have the Bridge and Captain Ruhr has Engineering, we've effectively gained control of this ship. Saddle up, lock and load."
David led his team to the bridge. Once in the couple last corridors before the bridge the started meeting resistance in the form of Orion guards. They proceeded to engage the Orions in a fire fight. After a swift and brutal attack, David's team mowed through the Orion guards. His Marines set charges and blew a hole where the bridge doors used to be and they raided the bridge opening fire in a fire fight and as they closed in on the enemy, the fight evolved to hand to hand combat.
Montoya got hit in the shoulder, but that didn't deter the team any from pressing on with the battle. David rushed the Orion Commander and hit him in the head with the butt of his assault phaser rifle. He pushed him back against the wall with the rifle pressing into his throat. The Orion Commander kneed David in the gut. David winced and took the rifle from the Orion's throat. The Orion Commander used the distraction to call his large fist and pounded David in the head with it.
Dazed, David fell back on the floor. The Orion Commander hurriedly pulled out a wicked knife and raised it above his head and lunged down with it at David. David recovering from his blurry vision saw this in time and raised his rifle shooting the Orion Commander center mass, his fire joined with another's and the Orion Commander had a hole in his chest the size of a basketball as he fell dead on the floor. David rolled away avoiding being hit with the business end of the knife as it scraped against the floor, "That's what you get for bringing a knife to a phaser fight."
David looked back to see who also shot the Orion Commander to see Montoya's phaser trained at where the Orion Commander was. David nodded to Montoya who then began nursing his wounded shoulder. At seeing their Commander slain, the Orions were distracted long enough for Dillon and Wong to disarm them.
David crawled up into the Command Chair of the Freighter and tapped his communicator, "Webb to Shadow. I've taken command of the Freighter until further notice."
"Your orders were to get the survivors over to the Shadow, I am reading the freighter is very unstable and can go at any moment. So get the survivors back to the Shadow NOW!" Yoshi ordered.
"Yes Captain," David replied and tapped his communicator to close the channel and again to open a new one. "Commander Webb to Captain Ruhr, ready to wrap this up?" David asked.
"Yes Commander Webb, getting ready to evacuate." Ruhr answered over her comm badge. She was holding up Amlari and Werener was dragging the big Orion behind him. "Singh, has our friend from the cargo area turned up?" Singh nodded in the affirmative. "Ruhr to Shadow Transport room: I have sixteen to beam over. Five are prisoners so have Security ready. We have casualties but nothing too serious. Ruhr out." she finished.
"Nothing too serious? I got shot!" Amlari protested.
"You'll be fine for a while. Sickbay is probably swamped with wounded." Ruhr replied.
David turned to his team as he stood, "Dillon and Montoya, beam back with the Freighter survivors. Wong, go and get the Bolian woman in her quarters."
