Mission:
Mission 109: The Travelers Path
Location: Various Locations - Starbase Vanguard
Timeline: 1900Hrs - September 23rd, 2393
Division Admiral Talon Yeager had managed to get this evening off from her assignment as she had taken a shuttle back to the Starbase while the USS Shinano was busy building a transwarp gateway and would be finished within a few days to two weeks or so. Fleet Captain Kell Donos had said that he would babysit her remaining children for her while she and Davijaan took the evening and went back to the Starbase for their orders. But it was also to connect with Davijaan's other children and Talon was quietly hoping that Monique could join them for dinner this fine evening. The two were walking through the plaza as Yeager came to a stop before one of the large wall signs, clearly taking a glance at the information displayed.
Talon regarded Davijaan with a gentle smile. "I can hear you thinking husband of mine..." she said in a quiet tone of voice. "What's wrong?" she pressed.
"The Dreamcrusher is in the docks," Yeager commented softly as he regarded the signage before he turned to his spouse. "Monique will avoid us again..." he added with a sigh.
Talon regarded her husband, as her right arm slid over her left breast as she tapped her combadge. "Yeager to Deepshadow... Monique?" she asked
Yeager regarded his spouse in silence as he raised an eyebrow as a female voice came back. "Deepshadow here... What can I do for you, Admiral?" Deepshadow answered, this might be unofficial but she could not take the chance that this was official either. A Division Admiral or any Admiral of any rank calling was always a major event and should not be treated lightly.
"You are off duty right now... Right?." Yeager inquired of the younger woman.
"I am..." Deepshadow responded, "What can I do for you?"
"If you are not doing anything, then could you perhaps grace us with your presence for dinner tonight?. We've missed you."
There was a soft sigh. "Alright... We'll be there. What time and what place?"
Yeager shared a look with his wife, this 'we' revelation was new, but be opted to not say anything. "An hour or so in my quarters on the Starbase," she added a moment later. "That sounds good actually. As I said we'll be there... Deepshadow out."
Yeager regarded his wife. "We?" he commented quietly.
"Maybe she has a boyfriend she's not introduced you to yet," Talon answered, a soft snicker came out a moment later.
"Oh, gimme a break, will ya?" Yeager answered softly as he sighed softly. "At times I wonder if Monique wants anything to do with us... She avoids us so easily." Yeager sighed softly.
"She has no idea where she fits in with us... I knew that since we met her. Her mother was singularly unhelpful on the matter at hand." Talon answered with a soft growl. "I could not treat my children like that... Even if I was the porn queen of the academy, which I am told that she was..." she added as she shook her head.
"Preaching to the converted again mom?" came the voice of Sammy Yeager who emerged from a side hallway, she looked every inch the Klingon female she looked and sounded like, except she was wearing human-style clothing including a pair of jeans, boots and a hoodie with a large cowboy hat, which ironically suited her. Sammy was a child of two worlds and two separate cultures so she took elements of both and blended them together into one. Something that was unique to her.
"Hey, Sammy." Yeager smiled as he regarded his daughter who was of a similar mass and size to himself. Talon was more subtle in that she gently hugged the larger woman in silence. "You came to save me from bitching about Monique."
"Is she skipping dinner again?" Sammy inquired. She shook her head. "Maybe... Melody and I should go and deal with her, once and for all."
Talon raised an eyebrow. "Melody?" she asked Sammy, "What's she got going in this mess?"
"You really should ask her... Wherever the hell she is." Sammy answered as a second female seemed to emerge from the shadows. "Speak the devil's name... and she'll appear... What's the issue this time that we must meet in darkened hallways?" Melody inquired of her mother, step-father, and step-sister as she swept her gaze across the gathering.
"We're discussing Monique again..." Yeager supplied the answer.
"Oh, the ghost in our ranks. Does she intend to avoid us again?" Melody sounded angry and from her perspective, she had good cause to be angry.
"Well, she did say she'd join us at dinner..." Talon commented, Yeager held his silence and it was easy to see why. Melody indicated him with her hand. "Yet she's said all this before and she's been a no-show before, why should we even care anymore?. She never comes to these events mom."
"She does have a point Talon... Maybe I should-" Yeager started but Sammy stopped him with a cold glare. "No. Dad, you're too close to the problem. I will handle it." Sammy commented.
Melody regarded the larger female before her. "I'll go with you." she smiled as she was expecting Sammy to refuse her.
"Will you be civil on the subject?" Sammy pointedly looked at the woman who was her kin only by marriage and she had no genetic bond with on any level whatsoever.
Melody simply raised an eyebrow as she slowly smiled. "Can I trust you to be reasonable?"
"I think it's safe to say you both will be able to explain your sides of this tale to her, from your perspectives..." Yeager did not need Sammy or Melody to get into an argument with the other as Talon held her silence, she then entered the conversation as she regarded Melody. "Why do you want to get involved?"
"Because I am in the same boat as her." Melody answered as she indicated Sammy, in a quiet tone of voice, "Except its with Dad... I do not know where I fit in with his family. so I hang around yours and I visit with his family. Hoping that maybe, just maybe, I will find some clarity from you and him..." as she regarded her mother. "But you know my feeling on that subject and if I can help Monique from making the mistake you made, then I will."
Talon sighed, she was never going to live it down, even if she lived to see the last black hole evaporate. "I was young and very stupid Melody, what do you want me to say on the matter?"
"There is nothing else to be said..." Melody answered, in a quiet and resigned tone of voice. "Because its decades too late, in any event," Melody answered. "Don't worry about it mom, you can't fix this one..." and with that, she walked away as Sammy turned and followed the shorter woman in silence, her footfalls making no noise.
