Personal History | At the battle of Wolf 359, Melody's father had lost his first wife. He had spent almost twenty years being in a relationship with his first wife and the loss for him was something he would never recover from, he went back to the academy for training when he met a woman named Talon Yamaguchi while on an exercise on Mars. While on this exercise. Orthos went through the Pon Far and Talon assisted him with his efforts, she found herself becoming pregnant so she found herself unsure of what to do, Orthos gently took her by the hand and assisted her with the various efforts as he had been in this position and situation several times before. Once the child was born. Talon wanted to place her up for adoption as she cited her lack of experience despite the fact that Orthos was a single father with three children in the house and the eldest two had already come of age and left home. Fortunately, Talon listened and she allowed him to raise their child with the assistance of his older children who were quietly pleased to see their father come back to life again with Melody in his arms. Iason, in particular, took a great shine to his youngest sibling and he spoilt her rotten, Melody, in turn, grew to love having her older siblings around and they liked her. Talon, however, did not wish to have a relationship with Orthos as she was more confused than anything else, this only angered Orthos's remaining children against her. Orthos did not claim to understand her reasons but he decided not to pursue the issue between them. Melody spent her childhood going from mom and dad, two completely different styles of living and it showed with her personality. Melody was much loved and cherished by both her parents but Melody had many questions about the two of them but she could never quite get the two of them together, Talon was a martial arts expert with skills in tactical and Orthos seemed to be a jack of all trades, master of none with a small army of other children who doted on Melody without mercy. Melody came to love spending her time with her siblings, even if they were only her half-siblings, they did not see the issue and after a time, neither did she but Melody began to blame herself for her parents never ending up together. When asked. Talon outright evaded her and when asked Orthos simply said that he was respecting Talon's wishes as she didn't wish a relationship with him. To make matters worse, all of Orthos's other children grew to hate Talon with a passion, that for Melody became a sight to behold, it bothered her so she resolved to do something about it. Her efforts however would take many years as Talon and Orthos never spent any time together as both had made their careers priorities. Ultimately her efforts turned out to be for naught as her mother would not change her mind so Melody became very angry and resentful at her mother for this, eventually, she demanded to be raised solely by her father. This forced Talon to act so she got back in touch with Orthos to do something other than hand their child to the other parent. Talon realized that she had to listen to Melody on the subject and so Talon and Orthos began getting to know each other. After almost a year, it seemed that Melody's request was finally paying off as he parents got closer and closer together until they were dating but what broke up the two was Jerome Hunt. Melody watched as this man crashed into his mother's life and while Jerome pursued Talon. Orthos was less than amused with the antics of Hunt and he left the man know as such, Hunt seemed to care little for the havoc that he had caused but he ended up wooing Talon by appealing to her in a way that Orthos simply couldn't and in the end, Hunt claimed his prize. By this point, Melody had made her hatred for Hunt very clear and while he didn't pay it any mind, he did get put on notice on the matter but this caused a great deal of strain between mother and daughter but Melody had gone off to the academy, partly because she was utterly convinced that Jerome Hunt would try to rape her and partly because she hated the fact that he had undone all of her work in trying to get her parents together. Melody never forgot and nor did she forgive either. She made her hatred of Jerome Hunt plain for all to see. Melody's time at the academy was highly educational as she was originally paranoid regarding Jerome Hunt but once he didn't come after her, she quickly settled down and transferred to another academy as soon as she could, at the same time, Melody severed contact with her mother about this time as she went through the academy. What Melody didn't know was that her mother's relationship with Jerome Hunt was already starting to crumble, as Talon was not as easily domesticated as Jerome had wished, he left her with two and soon to be three children alone when he walked out of her life after one argument too many. Talon was angry, bitter and broken-hearted as she ended up with one of her friends rather then Orthos who had also ended up with someone else after this point. Melody was also angry about what had happened, and more to the point, she was enraged at her mother as she had ample chances to sort things out with her father but she felt that Talon took way too long and she had lost Orthos who was now dating someone else. She made this fact very clear whenever the subject came up. Melody went off to her first posting, the USS Des Moines, a Century class heavy cruiser and she greatly relished this assignment as she learned a great deal in a short space of time, she was highly tempted to refuse the assignment to the USS Roanoke when it came up as she was very reluctant to leave this ship and her crew but she wanted the experience of serving on a carrier. Melody's experience on the Roanoke was cut short with the ship's destruction during the battle for Goranar during the Federations intervention in the Klingons war with the Gorn. Melody was quickly reassigned to Starbase 14 as one of their quartermasters and she remained here for almost a year before she was requested to go work at Starbase Vanguard where she would be reunited with her father and later, her mother and Talon's second husband, a guy named Davijaan Yeager. He seemed to be much easier to get along with then Jerome Hunt, he helped Talon keep her children and he also helped her get Noel back, all of which encouraged Melody but she would remain skeptical of Yeager for quite some time to come, she made that clear too all involved too. Even after the birth of her two youngest siblings, Harry and Syal. |
