| Personal History | Monique Deepshadow was Born in 2366 while her mother, Leah Deepshadow was at the academy, her mother was something of a party girl and she was seeing a new guy at almost every party which her dorm at the academy had with alarming frequency. What Leah did not know was that she was pregnant with twins and her second child was stolen from her, it produced a rift with all of her relatives, a rift that never truly cleared over time. Davijaan Yeager was the one who had gotten Leah pregnant but neither mother or father knew this for years as Monique came along, interrupting her mother's academic life before she was passed on to Miranda Deepshadow who raised her among her own children. Had Monique known the truth as to why, it would have made her life easier. As Monique grew up, she watched the Federation go from one disaster to another, one war to another ending in the Dominion Wars in the mid twenty-three seventies. This only added fuel to her desires to get into Starfleet quickly and at age eighteen she applied, for, was accepted and went off to the academy, her midshipman cruise at the academy was on the Galaxy Class USS Envoy and this assignment would have disastrous consequences for her and everyone around her. The USS Envoy discovered a Micro-Dyson Sphere, protecting a planet which had a parasitic species which survived by feasting and 'infecting' host organisms, this did not bode well for Monique or anyone else but she and a few others went inside the Dyson sphere where they met the Monitor of Installation Zero Nine One Two or so the computer program designated itself. The system was failing so it needed a new caretaker. The monitor then demanded that a member of the Federation's away party sacrifice someone to save itself and when Monique and her party refused. The monitor then took Monique anyway, uploading itself into her mind with all of the information from its native species. The experience was devastating for Monique as she sought a way to purge herself of what she called. 'Electronic corruption', in the end, however, she failed. This was the start of the battle between the Dominion who sought to destroy the shield-world and a new Alien race who never formally identified themselves by name, Monique, in the end, was able to save the monitor of the shield-world but she warned him to never attack her or anyone else ever again, however in his gratitude he 'uplifted' her as she has transhuman abilities like the ability to mentally invade a computer system among various other things. Monique was able to complete her studies at the academy in a fraction of the time left remaining to her before she decided to undergo a full series of medical checks and the like to ensure she wasn't carrying around any major problems. When she was cleared, she was requested by the skipper of the USS Envoy to come back and work for him, an assignment that she happily accepted as she was assigned quite a laundry list of work to do, as this old girl hadn't yet seen her first twenty year refit and now she was overdue for it. Monique spent the next four years doing alone what a team of four couldn't do in ten years as she cleaned the ship out and refitted several systems, also she assisted with the major refit when she finally got it. It was about this time when she ended up dating a man named Jacob Stans, the two became close but they had issues between them as he wanted something from her that she wasn't prepared to give, once he relized her issues, he began helping her with her issues and when she departed, she left open the possibility that they could continue their relationship down the road. Monique swiftly became the assistant Chief but when the Envoy put in for her two-year refit which started in 2389, she found herself being offered Chief Engineer of another ship which she accepted. Off she went to the USS Phoenix which really needed help with its systems, once she got there she went to work cleaning out the Phoenix the way she had done for the USS Envoy, this was what garnered her promotion to Lieutenant a week after her arrival and now she's being considered for the Lt Commanders rank. Deepshadow was offered a promotion to Lt Commander which she refused and then she decided she wanted a break from always being the hero so she stuck in for reassignment and a week later she heard back, her request had been approved so off she went to the USS Dreamcrusher to become their new assistant Chief Engineer. Her assignment here was highly educational for the young woman, while she and Noq't had their issues and misunderstandings as she was expecting the average atypical Klingon. What she got was something completely different. The second Pineapple incident cleared the air between them once and for all, as the two ended up having a sexual encounter in his office, this allowed her to understand who had was dealing with on a much deeper level than before. Noq't and Deepshadow worked together, a well-oiled machine that ensured Dreamcrusher operated at peak efficiency. Until Noq't was reassigned to the USS Coral Sea, in his place. Monique was promoted to Chief Engineer as she remained here on the USS Dreamcrusher before she finaly accepted her promotion to Lt Commander at the same time. |
