Lieutenant Melody McKnight-Yamaguchi was presently meditating while she was babysitting for her father and his wife. Melody was wearing a martial arts gi and a pair of black pants but little else as she was kneeling in the center of the room, her weapon lay before her, it was a simple bo, a full staff weapon which her mother had trained her how to use. Talon had taught all of her children how to protect themselves and Melody was only the first of Talon's many children to learn the martial sciences.
Suddenly there was a knock at the door, this had the unintended side effect of waking the young infant as Edward began crying. Melody's duty was clear as her eyes snapped open, she moved forward, snatching up her bo and coming to her feet, all in one smooth motion.
Melody sighed before she slipped the bo over her shoulders where it belonged before she went to tend to her infant brother. Edward settled almost instantly. This made Melody smile as she moved to tend to the second item of business. Greeting her guest, whoever it was.
Melody tapped the door release and found herself face to face with a six star Admiral. Melody in her surprise nearly dropped her brother except T'Sara was quicker, she gently grasped the younger woman with one hand before she gently liberated her grandson with her other hand. "Hello Melody, I can see you were not expecting me. That's alright, neither was your Dad." T'Sara commented.
Melody regarded her grandmother. "Grandma T'Sara. I'm sorry."
"Don't be." T'Sara grinned at the young woman. "I am officially not here but I thought I'd drop by and visit family while I was passing through."
"Oh. Well, Daisy and dad are running errands. I have no idea of when they will be back." Melody responded. "Come on in and make yourself at home."
"Thank you, sweetie." as she gently handed the small infant back to her granddaughter before T'Sara slipped off her uniform jacket. "I hate those things, always makes me feel I'm in a lunatic asylum from a thousand years ago on Bajor." she paused. "or five hundred if one is thinking of Earth."
Melody nodded when suddenly the door opened and in walked Daisy who almost instantly collided with T'Sara. Melody managed to catch and steady Daisy but T'Sara ended up flat on her face.
"Oh! Sorry! I wasn't expecting anyone else to be here." Daisy tried to explain.
Melody raised an eyebrow as T'Sara simply rolled onto her back. "Okay, I'm awake now. Daisy, we meet again." the Vulcan female regarded Daisy while she was lying on the floor, when suddenly, in one smooth motion, the Vulcan female moved so she was standing again. "Anyone ever mention you that you'd make a great NFL lineman?" she asked of Daisy.
"I've been called a lot of things," Daisy replied. "Please tell me you're not hurt?"
T'Sara regarded Daisy, a gentle smile on her face. "Of course not Daisy. I am not so easily bruised," she added.
Melody regarded the two women in silence. "Can I get you guys something to drink?" the youngest female inquired.
"Just some water please?" Daisy asked.
"Same for me please," T'Sara commented evenly.
Melody turned and went to order the drinks as T'Sara regarded Daisy. "I had time between my various assignments so I felt I should drop by and say hello," she explained to Daisy.
"Well, you're always welcome here. We enjoy your company." Daisy replied.
T'Sara smiled as she regarded the younger female who had ran her other a few minutes earlier. "Thank you, I appreciate that," she responded as she received her drink. "How is Orthos doing these days?, he doesn't say much to me."
"He is doing well," Daisy replied then looked over at Melody. "Although he has been a little moodier lately."
Melody smiled. "the demands of children weigh heavily upon him." she responded as the door opened, in walked Orthos and he skidded to a halt before he collided with his wife, his mother or his daughter. "Ladies. Whats going on?" he inquired in a gentle tone.
"Your mother is here, Orthos." Daisy cheerfully told Orthos.
T'Sara smiled at her son as she gently embraced him. Orthos greeted his mother with a hug of his own. "Hey, mom. Hows things?"
"I have no complaints, asides from your wife and her NFL lineman approach to life."
Orthos raised an eyebrow. "Oh?. I'm sensing a story behind this?"
"Daisy came in and ran me over. I think my pride is still broken." T'Sara answered easily.
"Would it help if I said sorry?" Daisy asked.
T'Sara regarded Daisy. "You did. I am just not used to being roadkill."
Orthos regarded his mother. "It could be worse." he smiled. "You recall Private Jenkins?" he inquired of Daisy. "When Daisy and I met. She could have done to you what she did to him?"
T'Sara sipped her drink. "Nothing kind, I'd imagine?" the Vulcan female inquired.
"That's... One way to put it." Orthos responded in a light tone.
"So, T'Sara, what is your next assignment?" Daisy asked.
"I'm presently taking a week of leave time before I take over my next posting, command of." she frowned. "It would have been called Beta Quadrant command two except the trained chimps upstairs gave it a bland name. something like Oversector command three or something truly pitiful." she then shrugged.
Melody gently handed the small infant to her father. "I think Edward missed you."
Orthos accepted him from Melody. "Thanks. Hey little guy."
Edward cooed at his dad.
"Edward is more happy with his entourage around him." Daisy joked.
Melody grinned over at Daisy. "What of T'Sara?"
"What about me?" the Vulcan female inquired.
"Not you, Grandmother." the young female responded, a gentle smile on her lips.
"Oh." T'Sara paused. "Yes, how is my namesake?" she inquired of Daisy. "She has an NFL lineman for a mother. She checks and she breaks and she makes her enemies whimper for mercy."
"I'm not that bad!" Daisy replied.
Melody giggled softly. "I think Daisy will never live this one down."
"No. Not at all." T'Sara answered. "Its seldom anyone gets to come near me, let alone run me over for my impudence."
Orthos raised an eyebrow as he heard his mother and daughter conspiring. "So... What happened?"
"Daisy here ran over Grandma T'Sara. Oh, I'm talking blood and guts and bones everywhere, ahh it was horrible." Melody answered in a melodramatic tone.
Orthos smiled as he grinned at his wife. "My wife is unstoppable, stop picking on her, you." he said to Melody.
"But its so much fun," T'Sara answered, a grin on her Vulcan face. "Everyone expects me to be so serious all the time, I tell you, the universe grows old."
"I worry about you at times mom, I find your lack of logic so profoundly disturbing," Orthos commented in a dry tone of voice.
"I have been accused of worse," T'Sara answered. "How would you have reacted had Daisy and I been pregnant at the same time?" she then grinned at her son. "I thought about having more kids actually."
Orthos raised an eyebrow. "Terrified and confused. My family tree is more of a pie chart these days.."
Melody sighed. "Dad, I am your third youngest child... y'know, of the small army of children that you and Vanessa produced. Then you had me and Marie with mom then you have T'Sara and Edward. My, you have been busy." the young woman gave a strained smile to her father who stuck his tongue out at her.
"I think I'm good at two children," Daisy replied.
Orthos chuckled softly. Melody raised an eyebrow. "Are you sure?" she inquired. "I mean Dad has so many children, it seems he's related to half the McKnights in existence."
"I am not." Orthos paused. "You are exaggerating."
"No, I'm not. All your kids have kids of their own, one of those kids his a child of his own. I mean how many relatives do you have Dad?"
"I have no idea," Orthos answered, in a flat tone before he sighed.
