Mission:
Mission 85: My Soul's in Arms, and Eager for the Fray
Location: B'kayor firing ranges
Timeline: 0800 May 29th 2392
All the senior marine officers of the Lancaster and Argonne were being briefed on a new set of anti tank rocket launchers that were being delivered to the unit for testing. Raskar was one of the first not notice the potential flaw of these weapons, and that was the fact that the front end wasn't very distinctive from the back end. However, since the encounter with Klingon vehicles in the last engagement, it made the need for new anti-tank weapons obvious. So he kept it quiet while the resident R&D officer briefed them on the weapons.
"Colonel, I'm not one to rain on the whiz-bang kid's parade but do you think these newfangled weapons are safe enough to test?" Werner asked while drinking his coffee.
"No, I do not. That said, we still need to have them tested. Try to keep the extra special children away from the new toys." Hobbs replied.
"Will do. I like having all my limbs attached to my body." Werner told her.
Lt Colonel Brad Taylor came over. "The weapons are now ready for field testing.. sir." he addressed Hobbs, it was clear from his tone that he didn't like her in the slightest.
"Thank you, Colonel," Hobbs replied curtly. "Gunny Werner, pick out five marines to test the weapons."
"Alright Colonel, how about Bug, Fender, Unx, Carlton, and one more to be named," Werner replied. "Don't want any officers embarrassing themselves." Werner looked at Taylor.
Taylor growled. "You are insolent!" he responded. "That's to be expected as your answer to her."
"That's because he doesn't answer to you. He answers to the Colonel and if he answered to you, you'd already be missin' yer face as he'd be doing you a favor and relocatin' yer teeth." interrupted Sergent Major Jeff Duval as he ambled on over. "Colonel. Gunny. How you doing?" he addressed the two marines. "Things are ready to go.."
Taylor growled. "How the fuck did you ever survive in this man's marine corps, Sergent Major. You are highly insubordinate."
"Why are you still here anyway Taylor?" Duval inquired. "Shouldn't you be off stroking your ego or something?"
"His ego is so big it strokes him," Werner replied.
Raskar Wuko just growled impatiently at Taylor, "Oh come on, really, Will you grow up and stop acting like a moron so we can get on with this."
Taylor growled. "I'm going to have all of you up on charges when we get back. I will make you all my bitches!"
Duval sighed. "Oh dear God." he counted down from six. "Time to go to work," he commented.
Taylor turned and departed, leaving the others collected here as Duval breathed out. "I fucking hate him..." he sighed. "Let's get this done."
Raskar nodded and turned his attention to the marine firing line.
It took Fender a minute to figure out to shoot the weapon. He eventually shot it off but widely missed his target. Bug was next and also had to take time on how to shoot the weapon. His aim was close but still missed. Unx had no issues getting the weapon to fire but was wide off his mark. Carlton fired the weapon like it was second nature and scored a direct hit.
"At least one guy knows how to use the weapon." Werner smiled at Carlton.
Duval smiled. "Lovely," he responded dryly. "You want them to have another crack at it Gunny?" he inquired of Werner
"Yeah, I'm in leadership so I guess I should lead." Werner replied. Werner picked up a weapon and operated it without issue. He aimed and shot at a target.
The shot went wide right. "I guess I'm not the shot Carlton is."
Meanwhile, Bae Lajosse got hold of one of the rocket launchers, exclaiming. "Oh cool, these things are neat."
Bae shouldered the thing as though he wanted to fire it, however, he failed to realize he was holding the weapon backward.
Duval blinked. "Oh shit!" he shouted. "Soldier, put that weapon down!"
"Stop!" Werner shouted although he knew he was too late.
Before anyone could stop him, Bae accidentally touched the fire button on the launcher, and the weapon fired, sending the rocket flying straight at Brad Taylor and a bunch of other marines.
Taylor's eyes widened. "Hoo Shaiaaattt!!!" he screamed right before the warhead detonated on impact.
The missile exploded on a wall, spraying eleven different marines with shrapnel. Brad Taylor was the closest to the Blast. Bae who had his finger on the rear of the weapon had his finger blown off by the weapons back blast, causing him to drop the weapon and howl in pain.
Taylor's eyed opened as he blinked. "Uhh." he paused as he howled in agony, he somehow survived the impact.
Sergeant Major Jimkilli Bulldogged Bae Lajosse into the ground hard, while a medic, crewman Brinamoron Perrygit ran up to the badly wounded Taylor to treat him.
Taylor moaned softly. "Uhhh.." he whimpered softly.
Unfortunately, Perrygit was carrying an old style dustbuster phaser strapped to her side, which lacked a trigger guard or trigger safety. Perrygit had left the phaser on and set to cut, so when she kneeled down to help Taylor, her elbow came into contact with the trigger of the weapon, causing it to fire a lethal cutting beam right into Taylor's skull.
Taylor screamed loudly as he expired.
Perrygit dropped her medkit when she realized her mistake, and just froze, completely unable to do anything, while Jimkilli kicked Bae Lajosse several times growling," There better not be any marines dead because of you, imbecile."
Werner pulled Jimkilli away from Bae. Hobbs quickly moved over to Perrygit. "Why the hell do you even have that weapon?" Hobbs asked. "Turn that over and await to be escorted back to your ship. Your being relieved of your post medic."
She then turned to Bae. "Someone put young Einstein under arrest."
Werner pulled the weapon away from Bae. "So tell me, did your parents have any children that lived?"
Duval smiled. "Looks like one K.I.A." he rumbled. "Colonel Taylor has departed." he regarded Werner. "No, his parents had no children who lived."
Raskar Wuko called security down and shortly after, Kasmali Gyruu beamed down with two security guard, and Rasker directed her to arrest Perrygit. Meanwhile, the competent medics started to have the wounded marines beamed to the Spirit of Winter.
Meanwhile in the Spirit of Winters sick bay. Sokanon and her troop of medics were ready and prepared for the incoming wounded to arrive.
