| Physical Description | Tall, Massive and evil can best sum up this walking death machine. he has spent over thirty years of his life in the marines so he is extremely toned and well muscled. More controlled then the average marine but when needed, he has no problems using excessive force to get the job done as this is a man who has no problems with hurting people or with death. Duval also is recon qualified but doesn't get to use those skills much except in Urban environments where he can blend in and disappear almost at will. |

| General Overview | Jeff Duval's behavior was often eccentric, delivering bizarre and outlandish speeches to boost the morale of those serving under him. However, he also was a no-nonsense NCO who cared deeply for the lives of his troops. Duval believed in pushing his soldiers to their limit in training, in order to give them a better chance of surviving real combat. Duval is more open minded then average, he is also more liberal then most on many issues, also he's more controlled thanks to spending time with his wife who is Vulcan, T'Nae who is more open with her feelings and emotions as she has to balance them. However that said, Duval also has no problems with using that violent temper he keeps under wraps to get his point across, sometimes with colorful language and sometimes with physical force or the threat of force. |

| Strengths & Weaknesses | Strengths: He's easy to get along with and deal with, generally thinks before he acts and sometimes is known for his dry and witty humor on the battlefield. His family is a powerful motivator in staying alive He Cares a great deal about his marines, no matter whats going on, their safety and their lives are foremost in his mindset, now that he has become Chief of the Boat for the USS Roanoke, that mindset has expanded to encompass the entire crew. Weaknesses: sometimes rushes headlong into a fight without regard for his own safety if a friend or a 'brother marine' is in trouble. also uses the com far too much for his dry humor. Classic example "Dear Humanity, we regret being alien bastards, we regret coming here and we most definitely regret that the Corps just blew up our raggedy-ass fleet!" His temper is a strength and a weakness. in battle it will be an extra motivator to keep him and the others around him alive and the weakness is that he can easily get angry enough to do something stupid. He has earned two separate medals for two separate incidents in the Dominion war for valor and bravery where he saw it as stupidity and suicidal insanity. |

"Keep your eyes downrange, fingers on your triggers and we all go home in one piece, Am I right Marines - Corporal Duval inspiring the marines with him on Setlik Three during the Cardassian boarder wars. "We're going to show those scaly sons of bitches that they could not have picked a worse enemy then the human race, we are going to blow the hell out of those dumb bugs until we don't have anything left to shoot em with, they we are going to strangle them with their own living guts.... Am I right Marines!" Sargent Duval with his marines towards the end of the Wars with the Cardassian's. "You had your chance to be afraid before you joined my beloved Corps. But to guide you back to the true path, I brought this motivational device. Our big green style cannot be defeated!" ”Gunnery Sergeant Duval talking to the frightened Marines before the assault on Betazed's Capital city. "Men, we've led those dumb bugs out to the middle of nowhere to keep them from getting their filthy claws on Earth, but we've stumbled onto something that they are so hot for, that they're scrambling over each other to get it. Well I don't care if its God's own anti-son-of-a-bitch machine or a goddamned hula hoop, we're not gonna let em' have it. What we WILL let em' have is a belly full of plasma and a pool of their own blood to drown in, am I right marines!" - Master Sargent Duval to his marines during the Borg Invasion and the discovery of Axion. Duval's earliest years were some of the most painful of his life as he and his elder sister Heather both watched their mother die from Sakuro's disease which at the time still had no cure, it left the three of them heartbroken and devastated by age twelve, her fight was long and it was brutal for all concerned, the effect left their father a gibbering wreak of a man who died a couple of years after her, his death was as long and as dragged out as their mothers was, leaving Heather and Jeffery and alone with her to look after her brother. Heather decided to apply herself and she went off to join Starfleet while her younger brother who had no outlet for his endless rage, he decided to join the marines after getting into a fight with half the school football team, granted he got his ass kicked but he put over a dozen of them in the infirmary so the base medical officer recommended that Jeff consider the Marines. Jeff instantly saw the ideals of the Marines as a place for his to grow and make something of himself and thus motivated, he gave it his best shot as he quickly enlisted right out of high school and was accepted. This is a man who had been there and see it all, from first shot to last in a half dozen major wars the Federation had fought since twenty three fifty, when he enlisted in the corps as a rifleman, quickly earning a reputation for never missing a target at any range that his weapon could hit. His time at Boot camp was educational in that he found a cause worth believing in since he and his sister were all that was left of his family, Heather Duval joined Starfleet where as he joined the Marine Corps. he graduated boot camp and then was sent off to over a dozen assignments, and fought in the Cardassian boarder wars in dozens of battles and ships, earning several commendations including two bronze stars. It was widely known that he had a taste for plasma fire or high energy weapons as he developed and interest in Star-fighter Combat as well as combat tactics used by the same. His first assignment in 2352 was the USS Kyushu where he learned how to fit into a Marine unit and the like, it was a highly educational assignment. His next assignment in 2354 was the USS Constantinople, an Istanbul class transport as he began serving in the Cardassian boarder wars, helping to protect Federation colonies and ferry relief supplies through to combat zones, also he got his first taste of combat against the Cardassian's and what's more he liked it. It was here he met his first serious liaison but she refused to marry him citing that he was a Marine but what she didn't tell him was that he had gotten her pregnant. However all of that was moot about two years later when Lieutenant Olympia Vale was killed in action and her two sons came to stay with their biological father who accepted them and raised both ever since. Meanwhile on one of Duval's assignments, his position was overrun and the fighting turned into a rather nasty melee fight as Duval helped hold his position, personally killing over a dozen Cardassian's to save his troops, but their position was held and while a dozen of his brothers and sisters went home in bags, his rage only grew until he realized what was going on with him, he came to enjoy the thrill of combat and everything else was not quite as good. He went through the whole tour without so much as a scratch on him, it was enough for many of his marines fighting alongside him on the colony world of Plataea and it was at the last battle where he could demonstrate that he had a solid grasp of command as well as tactics. He spent a few years on Earth after the war to help train the next generation of troops for the marines as well as helping with assignments with Starfighter command as it developed from an outgrowth of the Fleet and the Marines into its own independent branch of Starfleet. Later in 2356 after the end of the wars, he was reassigned to the USS Melbourne which at that time was an older Excelsior class ship then over the next several years he went to a half dozen assignments, all on ships where he served a full tour of duty on each but it wasn't until 2365 when the threat of the Borg became apparent that something new was happening. In 2357 Duval applied for and was accepted into Force Recon School as it was nicknamed at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton on Earth, then he went to Pathfinder School at Fort Benning, also on Earth and then after that he went through the various courses and fieldwork as appropriate, he graduated about eighteen months from the various courses and classes, qualified in Force Recon. Starfleet was starting a massive build up of its numbers, constructing new ships and kicking their research and development into high gear for the first time in decades but it was too little too late as a Borg cube swept into Federation space, destroying the New Providence colony and then the USS Lalo in quick succession, they then went after the USS Enterprise. Meanwhile Duval was stationed on Earth at this point, helping with training the new recruits into a disciplined military unit when he was quickly reassigned back to his first assignment, the USS Kyushu, a New Orleans class frigate and thus he was present at the massacre in the Wolf System of an entire Federation fleet at the hands of what seemed to be a truly unstoppable threat, the Borg. He watched many of his brothers and sisters were killed or worse, assimilated by the Borg and many Federation ships fell, the Kyushu herself, the Tolstoy, the Melbourne and the Goodson among many others, he knew he had a new enemy he most deal with and he could only watch and hope as the Enterprise came through the system but she couldn't stop to pick up survivors as she didn't have the time so when Duval heard the word that the Enterprise had succeeded in destroying the cube, he celebrated along with many billions of others who's lives had been spared. The cost of that victory was sobering as he realized that he had lost everything but his life, it was here he met then Lieutenant junior grade T'Nae of Vulcan, a woman in tune with her emotions rather then repress them so needless to say she stood out among the crowd. He requested and then demanded assignment on the USS Enterprise as a security officer, he was given a temporary naval rank so he wore the yellow uniform rather then the green one as the USS Enterprise did not have a Marine force aboard but Duval did not mind, he wanted to learn from the best in the fleet and find out how these guys did things, so he spent time in Engineering and Operations as well as security, learning at the feet of some of Starfleet's greatest, Geordi La Forge, Data and Worf. He remained aboard the Enterprise as a Petty Officer first class for the next few years until her unfortunate loss at Veridian Three, while serving aboard the Enterprise, he welcomed first T'Lee and T'Kera as twin girls and then his son Suvak, his third eldest son but because of the nature of his job, the children remained with their mother on Alpha Centauri B2, same with Anthony and Marcus who T'Nae accepted as two of her own without comment or question. After the destruction of the Enterprise, he went back to the marines and he decided he needed a planet based assignment for the first time and he established a home for himself and his wife on Alpha Centauri so they could raise their children together. He spent a few years here until the outbreak of the Dominion War and then he went off to fight, bounding around from ship to ship, just like he did in the Cardassian wars. After the War was finally won. he then returned home to Alpha Centauri to his wife and children as he let his enlistment expire and for a few years, from 2376 to 2379, he left the Marines, he had had enough of war so he ended up with a civilian job running the Alpha Centauri dockyards as well as doing schoolwork to increase his skills elsewhere. Duval spent time reconnecting with family and his two eldest sons who werte now a part of starfleet themselves, their service in 2379, he reenlisted in Starfleet after his wife was posted to the USS Shield of Vega as their new Chief Science Officer, so she took the children with her and he went off to boot camp and then off to take the various refresher courses he'd need, he went thorough them all first time with no issues and was rewarded with his previous rank reinstated. His next posting was the USS Pillar of Autumn-A to replace the original which had been destroyed during Operation Return. Duval was happy to learn that his son, Marcus along with his wife Lirax Mia or Duval Mia as she called herself these days had started having children of their own which meant that Jeff was now a grandfather. In 2384, Duval was transferred across to the USS Forward Unto Dawn. This was where he had served before during the Dominion War but while the ship herself looked familiar, the crew was anything but as nearly everyone he knew had left, gone to other ships or had retired or been killed on active duty, here he carried out more relief assignments until exploration missions were reinstated in 2386. After the chaos of Hobus, he decided he needed a planet based assignment and so he stuck in for one, he got Starbase 45 as their most senior enlisted man, he was then promoted to the rank of Sergeant Major for the assignment and it was here where he met Lt Commander Torilla Yamaguchi and Lieutenant Siaxx Dvald when the younger Bolian woman was on leave. He remained here for six years and then after a barfight which saw him get busted from Sergeant Major down to Master Sergeant, he stuck in for another posting. Duval was asked to transfer to the USS Roanoke as a personal favor from a very old friend, Torilla Yamaguchi knew of this man and she requested his presence with the marine department aboard ship. Duval's service aboard the USS Roanoke was more or less uneventful with the exception of one incident where some drugs were left on a vent, where they caught fire and since the fire suppression system was down, it ended up casing half the crew to become stoned, including Duval himself which caused him to seduce a woman half his size and mass. He found himself enjoying the encounter with Siaxx Dvald but he regretted what he had done to her afterwards, he apologized to her and while she tried to dismiss it, she also saw that he had a heart of gold underneath all of the rough marine exterior, it brought them closer together as friends. More recently Duval was asked to help Siaxx with her issues as she was getting darker and meaner as a person as Torilla had no idea of how to help her. At the end of 2390, Duval was promoted from the rank of Master Sergeant to the rank of Sergeant Major along with a transfer out of the Marines and into the Navy, but he kept his Marine rank and title. Admiral Yamaguchi did not object and neither did Captain Tane when he made that a prerequisite for his assignment. If anything Tane let him keep his Marine rank just to piss people off. Now Duval is settling into his new position as Chief of the Boat for the USS Roanoke, his sense of responsibility is rapidly catching up to match his new workload. Also, he was present for the arrival of her two new children thanks to his wife diverting the USS Shield of Vega to meet with USS Roanoke. He got to meet them and spend time with them. Duval moved his office into the backspaces of the Green Dragon so he could better manage the bar and serve as Chief of the Boat at the same time but the workload is a lot to handle, he, however, is slowly learning to cope with it. More recently, Duval was present for the wedding of Siaxx and Phoenix, two longtime friends of his and while his wife and children could not be present, he was cheered by the presence of so many he called friends and family. He also assisted in sickbay, helping with cleaning up and orderly duties to assist the medical staff with the crisis of having so many wounded people. Also, he organized the checkup system for people to check on the wounded that had been sent back to their quarters. Duval did not question what happened, only that he was needed and he went to work assisting those who needed help. A few weeks later after Nechayev was relieved of her command and arrested for various crimes, charges pending. He and several dozen others all wound up with several pets apiece. in his case, it was three dogs with a forth that he was holding onto for Captain Torilla Yamaguchi. |
