Posted on Tue Mar 10th, 2020 @ 2:47am by Captain Karl Reyes & Captain Paige Farlander & Commodore Keyan Farlander & Commander Rachael Antilles

Mission: Mission 79: Sound Trumpets! Let Our bloody Colors Wave
Location: Deep Space - Various Locations
Timeline: 0915Hrs - April 14th, 2392

Captain Karl Reyes narrowed his eyes as the clock finished counting down towards zero. The commanding officer of the USS Bismark sighed. "Jessica, contact the rest of the battlegroup, ask them to check in please.."

Lieutenant Jessica Thompson nodded her head. "Aye skipper. Coming the group to check in..."

Reyes paused as he watched the countdown timer above the viewscreen ticking away, now only moments to go before zero. "Sir, all ships have checked in, they are ready to get underway."

"Our destination has not changed. Sh'naris." Reyes smiled as the countdown timer beeped at zero. "Order all ships to get underway... Let's get this done."

"Aye sir.." as the officers around him went into action. Reyes sat back and waited for the inevitable fight and the first battle to come.

Meanwhile, nearby on the USS Shogun. Captain Hiroshi Kishimoto glared at the sensor display with a cold look on his face. "Today, we march into battle and we will meet the enemy and we will kill them all..." he growled softly. "Helm, maintain formation flight and move out."

"Aye Captain." came the response.

Meanwhile on the other side of the same battlegroup was the USS Lexington, leading her own group of ships into the battle to come. Captain Rachael Antilles slowly smiled. "Helm, stay with everyone else."

"Aye Captain, we're rolling onwards into the Gorn Hegemony..." he commented. "We crossed the border moments ago."

Antilles nodded her head. "Yep. We will meet the enemy in glorious battle... Well glorious for them, for us it'll be pointless and wasteful." she sighed. "But we will destroy them and take Sh'naris once and for all. I'm tired of having to fight for the same scrap of ground time and again."

"This time we will keep it once and for all skipper." came the response

Antilles smiled as she momentarily thought of her husband and children she was leaving behind on Starbase 24 so they could be safe while she herself went off to war, she did not wish to be separated from her kin but she wasn't going to argue about it either.

"You're doing it again." came the gentle voice of her Executive Officer, Lt Commander Wendy Foster who was old enough to be Rachael's mother who had died over twenty years earlier in the battle against this very same foe. The older woman had a head of white long hair which was tied back in a simple ponytail.

Antilles turned her head as she regarded Foster. "I hate it when you do that.." the younger woman said quietly.

"Only because I know how you think honey." The older human female responded with a gentle smile as Antilles found herself wondering why her Exec always referred to her as 'Honey' all the time but that she assumed was because of the substantial age differences between them. "I'm not sure if I like that or not," Antilles responded. "You calling me honey."

"You should actually," Foster responded with a gentle smile.

"I can't help feeling worried at that thought number one.." Antilles responded.

"Yeah, well... I can't say much on that.... I left my grandchildren on the starbase too dear." Foster smiled warmly at the younger woman next to her. "You're in very good company."

Meanwhile nearby was the USS Asgard, leading her own squadron of ships. Captain Paige Farlander smiled gently as she regarded the sensor display as the ships scattered around her ship and herself were flying along at warp towards their first target of the Sh'naris star system. "Are we ready for war?" she inquired of her first officer.

Commander Lana Phelps nodded. "We're ready for anything skipper."

Farlander smiled as she rose to her feet. "Good... Time to target?"

"Fourteen minutes, eleven seconds sir." came the expected response.

Farlander went over to the Master System Display at the back of the bridge, as she examined it with a critical eye. "Maintain formation," she commented. "Begin tachyon scans of the border areas... Let me know if you spot any cloaked ships." Paige was nobody's fool and she knew the Klingons loved their cloaks.

"scanning skipper... Indications negative at this time." came the response from her Vulcan science officer.

Farlander nodded her head before she came back to her command chair and sat down, making herself comfortable while they waited.

Elsewhere in the assault force was the USS Iron Duke with Captain Keyan Farlander in command, his thoughts were taken up with thinking of his children whom he had left with his mother on Starbase 67.

"Sir... you alright?" the first officer inquired in a very soft tone.

"Just thinking of my family that I leave at home," Farlander answered his first officer in a soft tone before being interrupted.

"Sir, we're approaching the Sh'naris System and the fleet is dropping to impulse."

Farlander nodded his head. "Stay with them, Helm.... Anything out there science?"

"Nadda skipper." came the response. "Not a bloody sausage as far as the eyes can see." the human science officer, added with her rather unusual humor coming out, her accent marked her as British.

"Well keep your eyes peeled.." Farlander responded quietly. "The Klingons will start shit with us the first chance they get." the middle-aged woman added. Farlander sighed. "Come out, come out .. wherever you are."
