Posted on Tue Mar 10th, 2020 @ 2:49am by Captain Christopher Daniels & Commander Kira Antilles & Captain Traci MacIntosh & Commodore Bernard Montgomery, 21st Viscount Montgomery of Alamein & Fleet Captain Leila Reeves

Mission: Mission 79: Sound Trumpets! Let Our bloody Colors Wave
Location: Deep Space - Various Locations
Timeline: 0915Hrs - April 14th, 2392

Captain Kira Antilles was sitting in her command chair, all calm and looking quite serene but inside her mind, she was anything but as she felt she understood the Klingons better then most people she knew as her father was raised as part of a Klingon house and what he had learned from them, he had passed that information on to his various wives and children, especially his first wife and eldest children like Robbie, Rachael, and Kira herself.

If it was one thing the Klingons knew how to make, it was decent footwear, it was comfortable and far better than the three inch heels that Starfleet prefered the females to wear which from her point of view, Kira always thought that the idea behind heels was stupid and ultimately did more harm than good, considering her background as a medical officer and the fact that running in heels was highly dangerous to the wearer.

Antilles shifted her attention from her boots to the sensor display that was up on the main viewscreen. "Distance from the target?"

"Ss'lessian system in twenty minutes Captain." came the rasping voice of her Chief tactical officer, a Gorn officer named K'lass.

"Very well. Load all missile batteries and arm all weapons.." Antilles responded. "Let's get this over with shall we?" the young woman growled softly.

Meanwhile, seated on his bridge was Captain Bernard Montgomery who was still settling into his new posting of Commanding Officer of the USS Hawaii, he smiled as he breathed in and then out, his duty uniform looked neat but not stupidly so, he regarded the display on the viewscreen as he said nothing.

"Sir, the other ships in the group are arming their weapons..."

"Arm ours too. Full scan of the system... any Klingon ships present?"

"I'm not seeing anything at present skipper." came the expected response.

"Understood," Montgomery responded softly. "Take us in."

At the starboard side of the battlegroup was the USS Thunder with Captain Christopher Daniels in command. This ship was brand new and right out of spacedock but she had one thing going for her, she had a tried and tested Captain.

Chris Daniels turned his head as the display showcased the system that the group was entering. "Any Gorn forces present.?"

"I'm reading several ships and bases in system, skipper." the younger officer turned her head.

"Hail them, make sure they knew we're here to assist them dealing with the Klingon situation."

"Aye Captain. Hailing them now." as the young woman went to work.

The screen lit up with the face of a Gorn Captain. "Greetings humansss.... I am S'larr. What is your purpose in this area?"

"We are here to help you with the Klingon threat. Captain.." Daniels explained. "We are not a threat to you... we're here to help."

S'larr blinked his massive eyes. "I had not expected the Federation to show any spine... I am glad to see you Captain and your fleet... The Klingons have been attacking us quite ferociously over the last few days..."

"Well... We will help you deal with them." Daniels responded as his tactical officer commented. "Captain I'm reading Klingon ships decloaked inside the system, they are heading for us."

"Oh really. What a surprise. Alright, lets do this.... Prepare to engage." Daniels responded with a smile. "Order all Federation ships to do likewise."

"We welcome your aid Federation Captain in the battle to come... glory to you.. and to your kin." and with that, the screen went back to the starfield as several Gorn ships moved into formation with the Federation ships.

Meanwhile nearby on the USS Nath'qu which was a new Century class starship. Captain Leila Reeves was seated in her command chair but as her ship was almost brand new, she wasn't up in the front group launching the assault on the large Klingon forces clustered nearby. "Helm, maintain formation flight."

"Aye Captain.." came the response from the young man at Conn, meanwhile the first weapons fire began to be exchanged between the lead Federation and Klingon forces when suddenly a Bird of Prey exploded nearby.

"Open fire!." Reeves ordered. "All weapons.."

The tactical officer nodded as he began working for it, as the flash of phasers lit up the nearby space and the detonations of missiles doing their nasty work against whatever they hit as fire did not play dice or compromise.

Leila listened to the reports as they came in, they told a tale of a battle being won but the Federation force was paying for it with damaged ships, shields sapped of life and lives lost.

The conn officer watched the battlefield as he sought to avoid collisions wherever possible and now that ships were maneuvering at high speed, it was chaotic as several warheads flashed past the now of the Nath'qu, the conn officer rolled the ship and managed to evade the incoming fire but he wasn't able to avoid the large K'Tinga nearby as the conn officer rammed it, bisecting the warship into two halves via the neck section.

"Shit!" the young man at conn snapped. "I'm sorry sir."

"Nothing to apologize for helm.," Reeves responded. "It happens..." she added before she turned to the engineer. "Status?"

"Shields back to forty-two percent, bow shields are almost gone but we're alright, no hull damage to speak about."

"Good. All aux power to the shields and stabilize the shield grid. Equalize all facings.." The Executive Officer ordered.

"Aye sir.." the man went back to his panel as more weapons fire flashed past then but only some it 'splashed' off of the shields.

"No damage sir." came the response from the tactical officer as Reeves ordered the sensor display from the battle presently taking place to be displayed o the screen. "Magnify the section where we are.."

The screen narrowed it down. "Take out that Vorcha class cruiser." as they watched, several missiles were launched off of various ships which began to strike the Klingon ship with violent force with fireballs appearing in various locations when it seemed that one too many impacted and the cruiser simply came apart as the hull began to corrode under the heat and pressure of a few too many fires before the damage was too much and the hull simply disintegrated.

Meanwhile at the other side of the furball that was quickly brewing and turning into a major battle was the USS Ishtar, which was one of the new Guardian Class ships. Captain Traci MacIntosh smiled grimly at the sight before her while she spotted a half dozen birds of prey going for a frontal attack on her ship. "Take out those birds of prey.."

The Ishtar sped past the six birds of prey, weapons fire was exchanged between the ships involved, one bird of prey exploded while two trailed fire and smoke. While they survived their engagement with the Ishtar, they did not escape the guns of her escorting ships which quickly picked them both off.

MacIntosh watched as large blooms suddenly began appearing around the Federation ships scattered on the tactical display, the same was true of her own ship, it was the new covert shroud gambit designed to decoy enemy weapons away from their actual targets and this would be their first deployments, she smiled as she watched as a Klingon Negh'var exploded due to incoming weapons fire as a Bird of Prey suddenly had its wing bisected by a piece of debris moving at supersonic velocities.

The battle was crazy as Federation and Gorn faced off against Klingon forces with the control of the Ss'lessian system in the balance and MacIntosh knew it would be hours yet and many ships on both sides were going to fall on this day. "If these men and women do not die well. It'll be a black matter for the Queen who led us to it," she muttered softly.
