Mission: Mission 50: This Grey Spirit
Location: Various Locations - USS Pinto
Timeline: 1000Hrs, November 20th, 2391

Harp awoke the find herself face down on the bridge's deck. The bridge was silent save for the computer cycling through ship's systems. As Harp pulled her self to her knees she looked for the crew. They too were sprawled on the deck. Harp climbed back into the commander's chair.

"Ensign Foscatini, where are we at and what is are rate of travel?" Harp asked the young officer.

Mya struggled to get back into the flight controller's position. "I'm not sure where we are Captain. The orientation programs are all over the place." Foscatini looked over her panel. "We aren't moving at all Captain. The auto pilot took over and brought us to a halt."

"Alright, keep checking the star maps to find out where we are." Harp ordered. "The rest of you, do a thorough diagnostic of your systems. Harp to engineering, give me a report."

Show blinked her large eyes. "Mmm... Well we're alive." the massive Catian responded. "The engines are stable, the warp core is intact..." she paused as she checked the display before her. "I have two hull breaches and more micro-fractures then I can count..." she mused. "Wherever we are.... we don't seem to be in imminent danger.."

"Thank you ensign. Get a team and fix those hull breaches. Harp out." Harp then turned back to the crew bridge. "Mister D'Havilend, have you contacted anyone?"

"No Captain, I can't raise anyone on any channel. I should be able to pick up something. Maybe we are out of range?" D'Havilend answered.

Chung replied to D'Havilend's quire. "Foscatini and I have looked over the stellar map. We aren't far from where the Roanoke task force should be."

"And yet we can't contact anyone?" Harp asked rhetorically. "Mister Wong, can sensors pick up any other ship or energy source?"

"Negative Captain." Haley replied. "I can't pick up any energy signals.

Harp sighed. "Where is the nearest star base?"

"Star Base 121 is a few minutes away at Warp 6." Chung replied. "Ensign D'Havilend, are you using you instruments correctly? We should have picked up something."

"I've checked and double checked the systems, Lieutenant. I can't get anything." D'Havilend protested.

"Ensign Foscatini," Harp stated loudly. "Set a course for Star Base 121. Mister Kolowrat, have weapons at the ready. Ensign Shomer'eggan, can the engines run at Warp 6?"

Show checked before she double checked. "They can bridge." she responded evenly. "But the system did take a few knocks... Warp Six is the highest I'd go until I can can get inside the engines and look at them."

"Thank you Engineering." Harp turned her attention to Foscatini. "Engage Ensign."

"Aye Captain." Mya replied as she punched the engines.

In a few minutes time the Pinto was coming out of warp travel. The bridge crew where looking over there systems. "Report Ensign Wong." Harp ordered.

"I am picking up a large man made object." Wong replied. "I'm getting a weak energy signal. The energy is too weak to be coming from a star base."

"Unless the star base engines aren't running at full capacity." Kolowrat injected.

Harp nodded in agreement. "Something is going on. D'Havilend, have you tried hailing them?"

"Yes Captain, there is still no response." He answered.

"Alright, Mya. Bring us into visual range of that object." Harp ordered. "I want to have a look at it. Tactical, be ready."

The pinto slowly encroached on the object. "I can put the object on screen." D'havilend told Harp.

"Do so." Harp replied and a half lit star base appeared on the view screen. There was some superficial damage but nothing serious.

"Is the power not working right?" Chung asked.

"I'm not sure." Harp replied, very unsure herself. "Harp to Engineering, I want Shomer'eggan and Tanj to report the bridge now."

Show looked up at the ceiling as the thought went through her mind. 'Is she serious!' as she sighed. "On our way..." she rumbled.

Ensign Tanj followed the caitian to the bridge. When the two arrived Harp turned to them. "What do you make of that?" She asked.

"What happened to the base?" Show inquired. "Thats definitely a Federation starbase... or... it used to be.."

Kiatara just shrugged. "I don't know why the engines are doing that."

"Alright, thank you." Harp replied. "Lieutenant Chung, I want you to lead an away team over there. You will take Master Chief Khatarr and Ensign D'Havilend." She turned to Show. "Ensign, you will also go. Bring Wionyth and a rating along with you."

"Captain, I would like to volunteer." Kiatara spoke up.

"Sorry Ensign Tanj. I need an officer back here." Harp explained. "Besides, Wionyth has more experience at engines than you do."

"I understand Captain." Kiatara replied, crestfallen. "Captain, I would prefer it if you would call my Kiatara. Tanj is my house name and Klingons generally do not go by that name."

"Alright Kiatara." Harp agreed. "But you still aren't going over." She then turned to Show. "Get the other two engineers and meet us in the briefing room in ten minutes."

Show nodded. "Yessir." before she turned to Kiatara as she nodded to her. "I have the feeling that you'll be called on in more ways then I can count... before this is over." she said quietly to the smaller Klingon woman.

The turbolift doors opened and out emerged Master Chief Khatarr. "Skipper. The armory is fully prepared and... what happened to the base?"

"Not sure Chief." Harp replied. "That is why you are going over with the away team. Draw three assault phasers and six hand phasers from the armory and be in the briefing ASAP."

"And why am I going?" D'Havilend asked. "I'm not very good with an assault phaser."

"Because we're going to need an operations officer." Chung shot back. "That's you. And we aren't arming you with an assault phaser."

Khatarr nodded. "On it, will be there in five." and with that the Caitian tuned and walked off of the bridge.

The away team, Harp, Davis, and Wong assembled in the briefing room. "Okay, the situation is that we don't really know what is going on. The Away team will beamed in main engineering. Find out what is wrong with the engines. I also want the ex-oh and D'Havilend to try and reach the bridge to find any clues."

"Wong will try and keep track off the away team on her sensors. The doctor will stand by for any possible casualties. Are there any questions?" Harp asked.

Show shook her head as she couldn't help but look at Khatarr, she found him interesting as she blinked, coming back to herself. "Well... errmm.. No." she responded.

Khatarr nodded his head. "We shouldn't have too many issues... but if this an enemy attack, whoever did this could still be in the area." he explained.

Franklin raised an eyebrow. "So let me get this right... What happened to this base and to us in that system can't be a coincidence." he responded. "somehow.. they are connected.."

"We're not sure." Harp responded. "That's why we need to go over and look. Computer: put the star base on the view screen."

The computer acknowledged and then put a large picture of the half dead star base on the view screen. It was then that Wionyth started to grimace. A look of horror was on her face.

"No, no, no." She shook her head. "You can't make me go. I won't."

"You're part of the away team." Chung scolded her. "And you're a Star Fleet officer."

"No... I won't go. You can't make." Wionyth started crying. She backed up into a corner and slid down into a sitting position on the deck. "I won't go... I won't." She muttered to herself.

"Get up!" Chung ordered. He then grabbed her by the arm and tried to pull her. Wionyth started to scream while she punched and kicked at Chung.

"Back off Lieutenant." Harp told Chung. "Doctor, can you give her a sedative?"

Franklin was well ahead of her. "Easy Master Warrant." he said as her fist connected with Chung's nose. causing it to spurt blood. "Let her go Lieutenant." as he moved in and with the speed and lethality of a cobra striking its prey, he injected her with his sedative.

"I have her." Franklin responded. "Easy Master Warrant... Its be okay.... Give me some room."

Wionyth slowly fell limp. "Ensign Wong," Harp ordered. "Help the doctor get her to sickbay."

"I'm half Betazed." D'Havilend spoke up. "Now while my empathetic powers aren't that strong I could feel her fear."

Chung wiped the blood from his nose. "Yah, while I'm hardly empathetic at all and I could tell she was terrified."

"But there was something more." D'Havilend added. "She almost...." He searched for the word. "...hopeless."

There was a moment of silence before Harp spoke up. "Well, were going to need another engineer. Harp to Kiatara, come to the briefing room immediately."

"On my way, Captain." Kiatara responded. She appeared in short order.

"Your on the away team Ensign." Harp told her. She then turned back to the rest of the away team. "I'm not sure what is going on but you had better be extra cautious."

Khatarr regarded the smaller Klingon female. "Mmmm..." he almost purred at her. "You ready to go sir." it was no secret that Khatarr was something of a fan of the female's aboard ship but now he seemed to have set his sights on the Klingon female before him.

"Yes I am, thank you." Kiatara replied.

"Chief, please keep in mind that I'm in charge of the away team." Khatarr's attention to the ensign had not escaped the notice of Chung. "Khatarr, Kiatara, and myself will use the assault phasers. Show, D'Havilend, and Canter will handle the tricorders. Let's move to the transporter room."

"Are you assigning me the assault rifle because you assume that as a Klingon, I am proficient in that weapon?" Kiatara asked.

"Yes." Chung answered bluntly. "That and your body can take more punishment. Now, if there are no more questions I'd like to get the show on the road."

"Oh I am not worried about you commanding the team El Tee." Khatarr responded as he hefted his massive weapon. "My concern is what happened over there... and can it affect us too..."

Show placed the tricorder on her left hip slot of her belt and her sidearm into the right slot. "This will be interesting if nothing else."

"Alright, move out." Chung ordered.

The away team moved to the transporter room, as they arounded the corner to enter the room, Show nodded to one of the Engineers, a El Aurian man named Alurian Del.

Alurian Del couldn't shake the feeling that they weren't where they thought they where. Looking up at Show he commented. "I don't know how or why, But I cant shake this feeling that we aren't where we are supposed to be anymore."

Show regarded him, more confused then anything else. "I'll keep my eyes open..."
