Mission: Mission 51: Warchild
Location: Various Locations - USS Roanoke
Timeline: 0900Hrs - November 20th, 2391

Lt Commander Jordal Hunt was sitting in the command chair while Commander Tom Lasky was tending to family matters. Lt Commander Rykar was off the bridge and Captain Teval Vakar was in the ready room.

"Sir. We're approaching our destination."

Jordal nodded his head. "Understood... Slow to impulse...." as he tapped the comm panel on the command chair's left hand rest. "Hunt to Teval, Lasky and Tane. Sirs... We have arrived."

Teval heard the comm, and simply said. "Got it."

Lasky response was quick. "Copy that, I'm on my way up."

Jordal stood up from the Captain's chair as Teval entered the bridge, he went over to his normal post as he thought. "I enjoyed sitting in the big chair." he said softly.

"Let me know when Ambassador Blon's ship has arrived," Zara spoke over the com, as she was on her way to the bridge.

Lasky smiled. "I'm gonna to visit the guys in Engineering then I'll join you on the bridge." he said to Zara.

Meanwhile back on the bridge, the door opened and out of a turbolift walked Lt Commander Vrenn Chan. In his left hand he held a PADD. "This is the information we have on the system, the planet and the nature of their dispute with the Federation. Suffice to say they want us gone... and I do not believe they are above using lethal force to ram the point home." the Klingon explained to Teval.

Teval took the information, commenting, "Wonderful."

"Most of the relevant information is coming with the Federation's ambassador to this mission. I am not qualified for a situation of this level."

Teval nodded. "That's why a federation council member is here."

Vrenn nodded his head. "Well.. I'll pass it over to Counselor Blon." he paused. "I think that's her name.."

Teval took a seat in the command chair." Yep, that's her."

"Lovely." Vrenn responded. "Is there anything further you require of me?" he inquired of Teval.

Zara had interjected when she walked out the turbolift. She made her way to the seat on the right of Teval. "Counselor Blon likes to delve into the Betazed chocolates, so please have Ops shower her VIP quarters with those, along with Risan three-thousand count silk sheets for her bed. Purple, if you can do so."

Teval gave Zara a strange look, then looked up at Rykar, whom just walked in and heard everything. "Well I hope the counselor is willing to put up with replicated, because such luxury items is not something we have on hand, unless Grek can source it, but it will cost a lot."

Teval shook his head, "And that cost is not coming out of my paycheck."

"We'll pull it from Nechayev's hard labor pay," Zara spoke with a brush of her hand. "That bitch could use a few months without luxury."

Rykar gave a smile, "Oh, I am perfectly fine with that, I think Grek will enjoy doctoring the books to get the funds."

Teval shrugged, "I'm good with that."

Just then the turbolift doors opened. Lasky stepped out onto the bridge. "Well the guys in Engineering are presently having morning prayers." he inhaled and then exhaled slowly. "It's never dull with those guys." he paused as he went over to his chair before sitting down. "What did I miss?"

"Nechayev footing the bill for my mother's comfort while aboard," Zara smiled evilly. "She's such a generous woman."

Lasky somehow managed to keep a straight face. "Indeed.. How wonderful of her to see to your mom's needs and wants." he went over and sat down in the Exec's chair.

"Let's just hope she doesn't ask us to dine with her... she can be a bit annoying," Zara spoke with a half-frown.

Lasky regarded the smaller Trill woman. "Oh she will all but insist on it." he explained. "It is protocol after all... and she'll want to meet me... since I am dating you."

"Is it bad that I've not told her yet about Kurt?" Zara asked sheepishly.

"No." Lasky responded. "Because she'll want details and explanations.... Let's face it the situation is fluid. No need to burden her with details when the little one isn't born yet.... Because she'll want to meet Elizabeth and Kameron will resent that issue.." he let out a soft sigh.

"Your mother will think less of me for it. Better to wait until after Kurt comes along before we tell her."

"All righty then," Zara sighed, at ease. "I'll be in my office should she arrive."

"Why?" Lasky inquired. "The sofa is over there... join us... "

"All right. But someone get me some... water," Zara spoke grudgingly.

Lasky sighed softly. "Dammm you Ms Stevens, I should have you shot for this!" he muttered softly but many within earshot still heard his statement.

"She just wanted to detox me... Can't blame her, really," Zara shrugged aside as she plopped on the couch.

"You're more forgiving then I am... considering I ruined my relationships with a dozen people because of that.." he sighed softly.

Lieutenant Moni Nasao unfurled her ears at the Commanders statement, she was impressed at his restraint on the matter. "Sir... I'm reading another Federation ship approaching... Its Ambassador Blon's ship... she is hailing."

"I really need... water now," Zara sighed with frustration and looked to the bridge officers. What she would give to be the CO still of the ship.

Lasky smiled "Put 'em through." as Moni Nasao put the Ambassador through.

Teval looked over at Zara, "Zara, she is your mother and you are the battlegroup leader."

"Yeah..." Zara sighed in resignation. "Put her on."

"Ah! It's good to see you again, Zara. I only wish you would come see me more often," an older Trill that looked strikingly similar to Zara.

"Just been busy, Mom." Zara pushed on the neck of her collar nervously. "Got your room ready."

"Good. Though I hope it has an adjoining room. Your brother's here as well," Bree Blon told her daughter.

"It does," Zara assured though she did not know which VIP room she was given, so it was unclear if Zara told a lie. "Meet you in five."

"Splendid. Ambassador Blon, out." The link was instantly cut.

"...I want your sidearm, Miss Benice," Zara declared.

"Why, Ma'am?"

"Because I want to be shot," Zara spoke dryly and with trepidation.

Lasky rose to his feet. "It'll be fine." he commented. "Come. I will escort you." he said to Zara. "Do you want Plataea to be there.... She can look mean and scary."

"Who's that?" Zara asked with confusion.

Lasky grinned at Zara. "The other Torilla..."

Rykar then added, "Would now be a bad time to mention that the room Grek assigned is right next to the admirals quarters, and the room on the other side is occupied as well."

"Oh no..." Zara sighed with dread.

Teval then asked, "Do we even have any rooms that fit the Ambassadors sudden and unplanned requirement."

Rykar nodded, "Sure, but they are enlisted quarters."

Teval looked up at Zara, "So, will the Ambassador be willing to stay in enlisted quarters then."

"Keep her in the VIP," Zara spoke darkly. "The kid can stay with me I guess."

"So long as he doesn't harm the cats of the dog." Lasky responded. "If they dislike him... he can sleep on the hull." he responded before he tapped his combadge. "Lasky to Unal. Could you come to the bridge please?"

"Right away sir." came a female voice that sounded very familiar.

"That the one that sparked the last polywater?" Zara asked to Lasky with confusion.

"Nope..." Lasky responded. "That was Odessa Martel and she's still dealing with that."

The hallway door opened and in walked Commander Plataea Unal. "You called for me sir?"

"Yes, You'll be handling Ambassador Blon's protection detail, select any eight guys you wish and assign them as needed. "

"Yessir, it'll be handled." Torilla's double responded. "Anything else sir.?"

"No... Thats all, on your way."

"Thank you." and with that Torilla's double turned and departed in silence.

"I hope Benice doesn't mind us puling extra security folks for Mom's detail," Zara spoke uneasily. "I don't think that woman likes me."

Lasky responded. "Oh..." he responded. "Which one?"

"Benice," Zara answered quickly.

Lasky raised an eyebrow. "Benice ..... Okay, now you're overreacting."

"Is it the other way around?" Zara countered.

"No." Lasky responded. "You've not done anything out of the ordinary recently, no drugs and no booze... you are also not corrupting minors..." he sighed. "So relax.."

The com system beeped. "Bridge from Transporter room. The Ambassador is waiting to be beamed aboard."

"Come on Zara. Let's go greet your mom." Lasky responded as he gently touched the Trill woman's shoulders.

"I'd rather greet Ambassador Troi," Zara sighed with loathing. "My mother wants to dress me up all the fucking time. In dresses, of all things!"

Teval chose to stay in his chair, having no interest in meeting yet another ambassador with an extremely inflated opinion of themselves.

"Yep." Lasky responded as he almost pushed Zara off of the bridge. "Come on you.." he said to Zara. "Besides... you look good in a dress.."

"Never, Dear." Zara spoke shortly as she entered the bridge. "Transporter room... whatever," Zara spoke to the lift.

The turbolift beeped as the doors closed, the doors opened just two seconds later. "Come along." before Lasky gently took her hand in his own, then he led her into the nearby transporter room.

"Ensign?"

"Six to beam over from the Dragon."

"Energize."

The four security troopers appeared first. Lasky frowned darkly. "What is this?" he inquired.

"They insisted-"

"I'll bet. send them back... then count to ten and beam over the Ambassador."

The Ensign didn't hesitate as the lead guard and his three companions were beamed away.

Lasky sighed. "Idiots."

"That was a diplomat's security detail you just insulted," Zara sighed irritably as the ensign went about to energizing Bree.

"Oh... good for them." Lasky responded bluntly. "I do not care."

The older trill woman was dressed in elaborate red robes that were worn favorably by the Trill people. Zara held back a grimace as the elder statesman hugged her.

"Place still looks like shit," came the sad voice of a teen not too far in age from the Academy.

Dithen Blon. Zara's half brother. While Bree looked very much like the older version of what Zara might very well end up looking like, Dithen had his father's looks. A father Zara did not share with him.

Regal chin, dimpled cheeks. Opinionated like most teens but also excited. More so when the blond-haired boy saw the transporter station.

"Oh this is the T-900 modle!" Dithen, ever the tech geek, made himself comfortable as she stood and looked at the console.

"Future engineer," Bree spoke lovingly to her son and let go of Zara. "All thanks to your brilliant career as an engineer."

Zara gave Tom that look that meant not to laugh before she smiled halfheartedly. "This is Commander Thomas Lasky. Ship XO and... well... we live together. So I suppose we're... I've no idea. Humans and Trill see relationships a tad differently, but we're very much involved."

Bree had that look. The one that mothers carried when they tried not to be too judgmental of their children. All the same, she curtsied to Lasky. "I certainly hope my daughter's relationship with you lasts longer than her former husband."

"I was present for that." Lasky responded dryly. "and I will see to it that our relationship endures." he explained. "Welcome Aboard Ambassador."

"Call me Bree, Commander Lasky." Bree went to hug him warmly. "And the young man over there is my youngest. Junior Cadet Major Dithen Blon - Starfleet Academy's next generation of engineer - I hope."

Lasky was surprised when Bree hugged him. "Okay.. Bree." he paused. "Would you care for a brief tour?"

"Can we see engineering?" Dithen asked animatedly. He was almost a half-foot taller than Zara as he approached Lasky. "Err... I mean, Can we see engineering, Sir?"

"I think I found you a coffee holder, Mister Lasky," Zara teased as they began to walk out of the room.

In response, Lasky looked at his wrist watch. "Now is not a good time. Its temple services.." he paused. "Come back in an hour..." he paused. "We should see to your accommodations first."

"I want to see these services," Dithen spoke excitedly as he brushed his navy and red junior cadet uniform off. "Why can't we look at them?"

"Some of our crew have taken to Prophetisim," Zara explained with a wink to Lasky. "They sometimes take pure Bajoran females and elevate them to extreme heights."

Lasky paused. "Literally." he responded. as he sighed.

"That sounds really brilliant then!" Dithen smiled at Lasky and asked, "Zara never talks about her life here... Are you two getting married? It would be cool to have a brother."

Lasky raised an eyebrow. "We've... not discussed it." he responded in a cool tone, as if expecting the question. "Shall we go..?" as he regarded the leader of the security troop, before Lasky decided he did not like the man or his people.

"Aye, we shall," Zara agreed and noticed Bree's security take their typical positions around the woman.

"So you were a pilot before going into command?" Dithen asked Lasky. "I want to be one, but Zara forbids it. Says the pilots are mostly morons."

Lasky gave Zara a rather evil glare. "So... the Pilots are morons... I'll make sure to tell Saki's mom that little detail... I am sure she will be so thrilled to hear this." he commented in a dry tone. "and yes... I used to be a pilot.. a good one too.. " Lasky stopped then paused before adding. "Why do you wish to become a pilot anyway?"

"Not all pilots," Zara spoke apologetically. "Just the ones that fly as crazy as Phoenix... That, and most of the other former marine pilots."

"I guess... But it would be fun. They fly in space at high-Gs." Dithen could not contain his excitement.

"Marines are trained to kill Dithen. Pilots too. For basic ground warfare. It's all they know," Zara tried to explain for what was the tenth time. "Many of those marine pilots are crazy, as a result."

Lasky regarded Zara. "That was before the Starfleet Pilot Branch and the Marine Pilot branch merged into one... Their own division called Starfighter Corps."

"My conversation with the twerp was also when they were Marines," Zara spoke quietly, and quite guiltily as they went into the turbo lift. Cramped, as they security detail took up a lot of room.

Lasky sighed. "Deck six... VIP area." the turbolift started moving as the ambient temperature increased quickly with all the people inside the lift car in question. Moments later the door opened. "This way." as Lasky lead the small group of people down the hallway.

"How does the new Valkyries fly?" Dithen asked Lasky. "Zara flew one in the Academy, her Sophomore year."

"I'm sure Tom and I will tell you all about the new crafts later tonight at dinner," Zara promised.

"But you will endorse me, right? Flag ranks automatically sign cadets up for Freshmen slots and if you don't endorse me, I'll have to compete," Dithen explained.

"Your junior cadet senior officer status already guarantees you a slot," Zara explained. "You just need to get you math scores up another five percent to be an official engineering cadet, once you're old enough."

Lasky raised an eyebrow as he regarded the younger being who was speaking. "Everyone competes to get into the academy son... You need to show you are worth it."

"Oh I will," Dithen spoke with determination.

"I hope so." Lasky responded. "Soon enough... you'll need to prove it to yourself more then anyone else..."

"And he will," Bree smiled happily as she stopped at her room. Her detail split up and half entered before her. Then the rest waited before Bree. "I hope to see you at dinner, Mister Lasky. Would be nice to get to know Zara's love."

Lasky regarded the Ambassador. "I will be there.." he responded. "But... will you be bringing these guys to dinner?" he inquired. "I'm going to ask that... you please don't..."
