Mission: Mission 42: A House Divided
Location: Various Locations - Starbase 12
Timeline: 1500Hrs - September 17th, 2391

Ryazars shield dropped out of warp at the edge of the New Holland system and procedure to the starbase the rest of the way on sublight. Ryuukei turned to Zuko saying, "You did warn them we where coming right."

Zuko nodded, "Yeah I told them a couple of hours ago. though granted I still expect a ship of this size to attract attention."

Ryuukei looked at the 3d display as they approached the starbase. Hitting the comm system, he announced," Ok guys, we're here at the starbase. We will be here for a couple of hours, so if you want to bring along any items or pets to take along on our trip, do it now. Those of you that want to stay here, now is your chance."

Roevin was in the back, said to Ryuukei," Alright Ryuu, I'll see you when you get back then."

Ryuukei nodded as Roevin left the room.

Kameron smiled. "Let me go over and collect the cats from mom."

Meanwhile on the Starbase Operations. Fleet Admiral April Yamaguchi turned to her Operations officer. "So... Pasha... Tell me something?"

"IFF Confirms Admiral. Its our friends."

"Yes... Well those little guys sure do like to impress.." she smiled. "Hail them for me would ya?" she inquired.

Ryuukei and Zuko's face came on screen, with Zuko saying, "Hey April, its us, we are just here for a little pit stop, give our guys a few hours to get their things before setting off."

"Okay. Send us your shopping list of things you need and we'll get things arranged for you." April responded. "So you found her hmm?"

Zuko nodded, then took on a more serious tone, "By the way, we are sending some of our R&D staff back to the starbase, they will be in your office in a few minutes to brief you on a situation that I would rather not say over an open comm line."

April raised an eyebrow. "I understand. I'll greet you in transporter room three." she responded. "Lets do this."

5 minutes later, Roevin and Lynn Kurkiv, and Aerin Ranval met April in the transporter room. Aerin was quick, "April, its best we step into your office now."

"That bad hmm?. Okay." she responded before she turned to the transporter Chief. "Beam us all to my office please and thanks?"

Once they where in aprils office, Aerin dropped a padd on the table, then started, "We, have a very serious problem on our hands. When we recovered Ryazar's shield, we had a run in with two romulan warbirds. They where equipped with transphasic shields, federation transphasic shields no less."

April was suddenly thankful she was sitting down. "Wait... What?" she asked softly. "Federation tech... especially something this sensitive on a Romulan design... Please tell me, my adorable Kurokuri that this is a late April fools day joke?" she inquired, almost in a pleading tone.

Aerins face indicated he was not joking, he slowly shook his head," Believe me, I wish this was an April fools joke, but it isn't. I would like to inform you, that transphasic shielding is capable of neutralizing the chain reaction effect of phasers, disruptors, and even our own akurian disruptor weapons. That Warbird, we unloaded 200 anti-ship missiles and 24 200 cm lance shells to kill it. Against Transphasic shields, two pathfinders would do just as much damage to those shields as our battlecruiser would."

April sighed. "So let me get this right... Someone on the inside sold out our tech for cash... Or favors.... I assume its one or the other.." she paused. "to the Romulans as it would be the only way they could get this tech working that quickly." she paused. "I'll also need to ask you guys for every single Transphasic torpedo you got so I can send them to the fleet... I also will need to recall several dozen fleets for this assignment as well... " she sighed. "Well the lives of three hundred thousand people just got ruined.." she shook her head. "We need to contact a few people...and I also need to contact High Command as well... Inform them about this situation."

Aerin then added the worst part, "April, this isn't the worst part. The worst part, is the Romulans have also gotten ahold of our disruptor weapons. And its worth noting, your standard phaser's chain reaction effect is about 3-4 times that of its raw energy. An Akurian disruptor, its chain reaction effect is 600 times that of the raw energy input."

"What!" April barked in sheer surprise. "So... these Romulans have the ability to kill Federation ships in one shot?" she asked. "What the fuck are we gonna do about that?"

Aerin nodded slowly, "Yeah, except those ships equipped with transphasic shielding, and the battlecruiser Ryazar's shield."

"Okay.. so we need to build more Guardians and the other new ships of the line then..." April responded.

Aerin nodded," Yeah, it would only take a few weeks of modifications to get the P3's transphasic shields fully operational. Dreamcrusher's shields are fully up and running, however, my team will go to the ship and modify the structural integrity fields so federation armor will be able to resist these disruptors to nearly the same level as akurian dispersion armor. We already have the designs ready, it shouldn't take more than a week to complete that task. However, we are also going to work on the phaser arrays to get their disruption ratio to the level of akurian disruptors. This is going to take a little longer. also we are going to redesign the heavy quantum missile to be more effective against ships with this tech, because the Romulans have also managed to upgrade their SIF fields to the point of where standard phasers wouldn't be enough. Their SIF fields can now resist our weapons, though to a limited degree. However from the information that Kurso has been able to dig up, the amount of romulan ships with these modification is extremely limited, maybe only a half a dozen exist, and we destroyed two."

Roevin then added," Also, its not just the P3's that can be upgraded to face this threat, we can upgrade the SIF fields, phasers and shields of all ships Ambassador class and later, though with the older ships, obviously the upgrades will be a bit more limited. However we wont be able to effectively put these upgrades on anything excelsior and older. Also, in the worst case scenario, should any of our un-upgraded ships encounter these upgraded romulan ships, it is possible to beat them. Transphasic shields can be hammered down with the current federation arsenal, and though the romulan SIF upgrade makes then virtually impregnable to our current weapons, it doesn't stop us from beaming torpedoes on their ship. so tell your captains, if they find themselves in this situation, hammer down their shields, and beam torpedoes aboard."

April Yamaguchi tapped her combadge. "Yamaguchi to Andreyev, Recall the Stalingrad back to base please?" she commented. "We need her back here right now."

"Copy. On it!"

Yamaguchi tapped her combadge. "Alright... so we need to move a massive chunk of the fleet and if the Romulans show up. batter down their shields and beam ordinance on board." she explained. "sounds reasonable." she sighed. "well.. I'd best go kick things off." she paused. "is there anything we we should chat about?"

Aerin nodded," we have a captured romulan bird of prey with a phase cloak, so we need to take people you trust, about 50 of them, and with seykai onboard, they will go into romulan territory and tap into the comm nets of the romulans, see if we can get a location on romulan ship movements, that way we have an early warning if they come to attack. Ryuukei still wants to take Ryazar's shield to attempt to find this wormhole that got us here, but he said he wont go any further than 4 or 5 days out. That way, if the romulans give any sign of trouble, he can get back here within a reasonable amount of time."

"Consider his plan approved." April indicated the large battle cruiser. "As for the guys crewing this Romulan warbird.. I have the perfect guys in mind." she slowly smiled. "I can also have them ready in the hour."

Aerin nodded, then replied," Well, that's pretty much all I got for now, so If you don't mind, I've got a Dreamcrusher to work on."

"Yeah. I got a dozen things I need to do quickly so... I'd best go tend to matters myself."

Aerin, Roevin and Lynn then left the ready room, heading for the Dreamcrusher.

Hours later, Teval and Hakaya returned to Ryazar's shield, while Roevin contacted Ryuukei and let him know what was going on. After closing the comm, Ryuukei turned to Siaxx, "Hey Siaxx, given the situation, I am going to take the Ryazar's shield on a deterrence patrol for a few days, give April the time to mobilize, then we will move off in search of Greywolfs people."

Siaxx nodded her head. "Sounds good to me." she responded easily. "I'm in no rush... I've waited this long... another week won't kill me."
