The Meeting in Helgard
Posted on Tue Mar 17th, 2020 @ 2:24am by Captain Daniel "Karass" McKnight & Captain T'Nae "Wolfheart" Duval & Captain Jordal Hunt & Commander Ralph Kerr & Company Sergeant Major Jeffery "The Mountain" Duval & Division General Donovan Garibaldi
Mission:
Mission 98: Building Our New Home
Location: Briefing Area - Starbase Vanguard
Timeline: 0915Hrs - June 5th, 2393
Sergent Major Jeffery Duval knew the meeting to come was not going to be a pretty one, he also knew of why and while he had informed T'Nae about what had happened, the resulting conversation had been anything but pleasant for either of them. Both of them recalled what had happened the previous year with Ethan Duval when he had come crashing into both of their lives, that man had been a refugee, stranded from another reality where Duval's parents had lived but his sibling had died as a child, it was completely the opposite in this reality where both Jeff Duval's parents had died but his sibling was commanding officer of all Starfleet forces in the Taurus Reach.
T'Nae and her children had come face to face with a man who hated them, a monster without rhyme or reason, it had taken a great deal from Plataea Yamaguchi has she had been known at the time and T'Nae herself, to free Ethan of the demons who had plagued and enslaved him. T'Nae had known fear and terror from the man who would have been her husband had he been in this reality.
The door to the briefing room opened with its usual soft-hissing sound, interrupting Duval's reverie as a Vulcan looking female entered first, followed by a behemoth of a man who had both human and Vulcan looks around him, following him in was larger then average human male with long sandy blonde hair and lastly was a Trill male who was also massively built.
"Thank you, everyone, for coming." Duval started before he turned to Garibaldi, he nodded once to the General to indicate that the floor was his.
T'Nae moved to her husband's side as she took a seat next to him while the other three Captains took seats nearby, they all seemed to know that T'Nae wanted a little space as she wanted her spouse. Under the table, Jeff gently took one of his wife's hands in his own as he knew there were few ways to calm her when she was this upset, or this angry.
"Alright, thank you for coming. As you all aware of by now one company of marines consisting of eighty-three personnel are missing. They were last seen yesterday at 0500 Hours and were boarding two Arrow class runabouts. The runabouts went into orbit above the planet on their way to Star Base 47. Contact was then lost." Garibaldi explained.
"We are going to try and search this system along with three neighboring systems. My staff is currently splitting up the assigned search areas. As of now are there any questions?" He asked.
McKnight nodded. "Are we going to sweep each world separately or together?" he inquired.
T'Nae spoke up. "General. I would like to have my husband join me for the search please if you can spare him." the Vulcan female spoke up, her gentle tones sounded almost soothing to Duval. He knew why his wife wanted his presence.
"Yes, Captain T'Nae, I'll assign the Sergeant Major to your vessel." Garibaldi turned to McKnight. "As to your question Captain, you're going to sweep each planet separately. We need to cover a lot of areas as soon as possible."
"Thank you, General," T'Nae answered with a smile.
"Has a search of the two Runabouts been attempted or have they been recovered?" McKnight inquired.
Kerr sighed. "How do you lose a company of marines? did they all just up and quit at the same time."
T'Nae turned her head as she regarded Kerr with a dark look. "One of those marines is my daughter." there was an undertone of threat in her tone.
Kerr dismissed her statement with his next statement. "Whoever planned this was either incompetent or outright criminal."
T'Nae narrowed her eyes as she glared at Kerr but she said nothing but one could almost see the smoke coming out of her ears.
Duval was the one who commented. "When we find him, we will deal with him too."
"Commander Kerr, things happen that are beyond the control of the leadership. No doubt you will experience that after you have spent time commanding." Garibaldi rebuked Kerr.
"Funny General." Kerr slowly smiled. "Yes yes. have the Runabouts been recovered?" he inquired.
"Right now operations are trying to track the runabouts down. Apparently, someone turned off the transponder." Garibaldi stated with some frustration.
McKnight spoke up. "With your approval General. I'd like to detail Dreamcrusher to this search, looking for the missing Runabout, it'll keep my Chief of Security focused on something other than searching for her twin sister." he turned to Duval. "T'Lee has asked that I remind you of her existence and she sends her regards." he then smiled softly.
T'Nae nodded. "We will contact her as soon as possible."
McKnight nodded once. "We will find the Commander of the unit, wherever he has gone," he explained. "I suspect that finding him will be an easy matter to resolve. General, I'd like your permission to treat him as a hostile suspect in a kidnapping case and proceed accordingly?"
Garibaldi nodded. "Alright, Captain but do everything by the book and document everything."
"Of course General." McKnight nodded.
Kerr raised an eyebrow. "What is my assignment?"
"At this rate, it'll be his yeoman for the rest of time," McKnight added by way of explanation. "Allow me to assist you. You'll take system two and poke all nooks and crannies, anyone looks at you funny then look into the matter," he commented. "T'Nae, I'll handle the local system here, could you take three?"
"Of course." The Vulcan female commented. "Its the furthest and my crew could use this experience for good uses."
"As could my own crew. Many are not assigned as yet." Jordal Hunt commented. "General, we will find your missing marines, whatever it takes."
"Thank you," Garibaldi replied to Hunt. "Now, unless there are any other questions you're dismissed."
McKnight was the one who spoke up next. "I'd like to get a full roster of the company in question, see if there are any of them who would stand out in a standard sensor sweep," he commented. "Who's the commander of this unit anyway?"
"All data on the individual Marines are available now," Garibaldi told McKnight. "1st Lieutenant Sternwald is the company commander. I don't know much about him beyond that."
"Alright. Well then, we'll find these Marines, those two Runabouts, and their commander." McKnight answered as he rose to his feet before he departed since the General had already dismissed everyone.
Hunt followed in silence while Kerr considered saying something but wisely followed the other two men out the door and was gone. T'Nae meanwhile was busy talking to her husband. "You think Alex might turn out like her elder siblings?"
"It's possible." Duval was saying. "Who knows, anyway, we have best get going so we can start this hunt."
"Yes." T'Nae nodded. "Maybe I'm being paranoid but if this was a result of someone being an asshole, pray I never get my hands on them." the Vulcan female was saying. "I should go, I have much to do and little to do it in, I will be expecting you shortly Sergent Major." and with that, T'Nae rose to her feet and departed.
Duval turned to Garibaldi. "General. I will keep you informed of our progress," he commented before he turned and followed his wife out the door, the two moved in silence with no talking between them.
