Bad News Travels Fast

Posted on Tue Mar 17th, 2020 @ 2:21am by Captain T'Nae "Wolfheart" Duval & Company Sergeant Major Jeffery "The Mountain" Duval

Mission: Mission 98: Building Our New Home
Location: Duval's Office - Starbase Vanguard
Timeline: 0910Hrs - June 5th, 2393

Sergent Major Jeffery Duval went into his office, the Mountain let out a soft sigh while he did so. "Computer, open a secured channel to the commanding officer of the USS Coral Sea, mark it as personal." he intoned quietly.

"Working." the computer responded.

Duval had enough time to replicate himself something to drink, mostly to calm his nerves as his hands were shaking, his baby girl had gone missing and he wanted to get out there to find her, he also knew that T'Kera knew how to take care of herself but this was an unreasonable situation for all concerned. Suddenly the computer beeped at him while Duval was just sitting down, he tapped the display right before the face of his wife appeared on his display. "T'Nae," he said quietly.

The Vulcan female facing him simply raised an eyebrow as she regarded her mate, something was bothering him.
"What has happened Jeff?" she inquired.

"You have been asked to assist in a search for a marine company that seems to have disappeared. I was just informed by General Garibaldi of what happened. I asked to be the one who told you as I knew you'd take it better if it came from me."

"What has happened!" T'Nae raised her voice. "Who!" she almost demanded. "Who got hurt!?" T'Nae added in a softer tone, she knew her husband would tell her soon enough.

"T'Kera has gone missing with the rest of her unit. They have not yet returned and we do not know of their location." Duval explained to his wife who seemed to be getting more and more annoyed as the seconds rolled by. "That explains why you wished to speak with me," T'Nae responded with a sigh.

"Yes, I didn't want you taken by surprise with someone saying something stupid about T'Kera or her unit, Their unit boarded two Runabouts and seemed to have vanished off the face of the universe," Duval explained to his wife. "Heather was asked to provide some assistance and she recruited you, so here I am now," Duval explained in an even tone of voice.

"Please remind your sibling that I am not impressed with her," T'Nae growled. "Does she think this is a game for her amusement?" the Vulcan woman was now getting angry, it was showing too.

"I am going to let you tell her that one," Duval answered his wife statement with one of his own. "Wait. On second thought, I'll tell her." As Duval suddenly recalled that he knew T'Nae would march into his sister's office without knocking and drive her fist into Heather's face several times for this. "I do not need you doing something you'll regret."

T'Nae only gave her husband a sardonic smile. "Afraid I'll break her or something?" T'Nae gave her husband a sinister look.

"Well, yes. Heather would survive you but your career will not survive her." Duval answered.

"Well I do not plan on advancing any higher than Captain, I think I'm safe," T'Nae added, her glare not losing any of its potency.

"Don't hit her T'Nae," Duval responded with a long-winded sigh. "Save your anger for those who actually deserve it. Like the leader of this company who led his troops out into the middle of nowhere and then disappeared."

"Yes. The briefing will be in a few minutes. I will be right over and then I will track down this criminal and make him talk, even if I have to beat him like a cheap Orion slave girl." there was something profoundly unsettling in T'Nae's smile. "Whatever it takes. I will make him sing like a fucking canary."

"Well, I hope he will be able to answer questions after you finish with him," Duval answered in a deadpan tone of voice.

"He will not be permanently damaged," T'Nae answered with an air of dismissal. "I will see you in a few moments. Coral Sea out." and with that T'Nae hung up on him.

Duval sighed. "My wife is in a very bad mood, figures. Such is my lot in life." Duval said aloud to himself before he rose to his feet and departed his office.
