Mission: Mission 116: All Along the Watchtowers - Part One
Location: Various Locations - Starbase Vanguard / Utgarde IV
Timeline: 1410Hrs, December 5th, 2393

Torilla Yamaguchi knew what this was about, she also knew why this was all happening here and now. She smiled at Gabriel who regarded her with a look of trepidation. "Are you sure this is a good idea mom?"

"Nope," Torilla answered her son's blunt question with his own blunt response. "But your father needs to deal with this Gabe." Torilla huffed a sigh at him. "We all knew this was a possibility... What we didn't know, was when this would happen..."

"Yeah," Savannah growled softly. "I got some choice words for that little skeeze," she added angrily. She dares-" she snarled before Gabe gently took his wife's hand in his. "Sav... Don't say it."

Savannah knew that getting angry wasn't going to help at this point. But with the loss of her mother and the rest of the Cassini and her battlegroup. She was easily angered and it took a lot longer for her to calm down.

Gabriel gently slid his arms around his spouse, he drew her into his embrace. "I... I'm sorry," she said quietly.

"It's okay," Gabriel answered.

"How? How is this ok?" Savannah asked both Gabriel and Torilla.
"How is me, yelling at you because I can't hold it together okay?"

Torilla regarded the younger woman before her. "Because it happens. You only just got her back. You were in the process of getting to know who she was and then the Cassini ups and vanishes..."

Savannah regarded the woman who she had always called mother, it now seemed that Torilla's primacy in that department would never be challenged again. "Yeah... Your right mom."

"We'll help you Sav... In whatever way we can. We've always been there for you... Some more so than others." Gabriel gently tried to soothe his spouse's anger. But he knew he was going to fail. "Anyway... Come on Savv... We're taking all these guys to the park... Give mom and dad a little time with their guest..."

Savannah nodded her head. "Yeah. That sounds good." she paused as she took a moment to pull herself together as her husband gently hugged her. "Whatever it takes. we'll get you through this... Okay?"

"Yeah." Savannah turned as she noticed Torilla gathering all of the children. "Come come, kids... It's time to go."

"Yes kids." a third female voice spoke up from nearby. Ouros Yamaguchi approached as she regarded the gathering. "Hey... I'm not late. Good." as she nodded to her brother and sister-in-law, she then came over and surprised everyone by giving Savannah a hug. "It's gonna be okay honey," she added after a moment.

Savannah smiled as she hugged Ouros back. "Thanks, Ouros."

"I try. Shall we guys?" Ouros reached down as she gently picked up Diamond, who cheered with the attention she was receiving. "We'll be back soon mom."

"Sounds good." Torilla watched everyone leave before she turned and went back into the house. She wondered if she would find Jake and Nalla in the bathroom. It was easy to assume that the two of them would be having sex. What she found was her husband in the kitchen with Nalla in the living room with Bethany.

"So... Everyone else is out of the house and they will be for the next couple of hours yet," Torilla explained. "Nalla... How long are you in town for... Before you ship out?"

"I have a week off before I draw my next assignment... I am told it's a medical assistance mission to the Cantrel System. I am told that their medical facilities are out of date and must be improved."

Jake nodded. "I was going to give that assignment to the second Vishal assigned here but if you can do it Nalla. Then I will assign a Transport carrier with several hundred Engineers and leave you as the mission commander."

"I will serve where needed, how needed and when needed," Furban explained. "She looks well." as she indicated Bethany who was sleeping. "She eats and lives alright?"

"As well as I can look after her. It's really a team effort." Jake answered. "What will you do?"

"I would like to be permitted to teach her of her heritage... But I will not interfere with her domestic arrangements." Furban added. "Hopefully in time... Things can be adjusted."

"Hopefully Nalla," Jake answered. "She is... Your daughter..."

It was then that the three people heard the infant wake up. Bethany regarded the three people in silence. "Hello Bethany. I'm your mother." Furban introduced herself for the first time as she gently touched her daughters face with her hand.

Bethany simply smiled.
