Dangling Threads - Part Five

Mission: Mission 109: The Travelers Path
Location: Various Locations - Starbase Vanguard
Timeline: 1915Hrs - September 23rd, 2393

Lieutenant Melody McKnight-Yamaguchi sighed as she stood there in the hallway for a moment as she watched the larger woman she had just been arguing with slowly moving away down the hallway. Samantha Yeager who preferred to be called 'Sammy' by friends and family sighed as she was wondering if she had revealed too much of her own bad blood to her step-sibling, 'maybe it was too soon' she thought to herself as she let out a sigh.

Melody McKnight had no blood ties to the other woman that she had gotten into the argument with, it had been something foolish which had as always, gotten out of hand, which it always did with her. She moved off after her step-sister a moment later.

From around a corner came a third female figure, she regarded the two women before her. "Ladies... What's going on?" Deepshadow inquired of the two women that she shared kinship with. "Did you two have a fight or something?."

"We had a chat where we both got to clear the air on our issues..." Yeager answered quietly. "I am still coming to terms with what was said."

"You look like someone who's just had a prized possession broken in front of them," Deepshadow answered as she quickly was able to figure out that all was not well with the two women before her. "What did you two say to each other?"

"Don't worry about it, Monique... Its... Not worth airing again." McKnight-Yamaguchi answered softly. "I think we've said all that had to be said... and then some..." she then let out a soft sigh. Monique gently coiled her arms around the other woman as she gave her a hug. "I thought my issues with dad were bad..." she commented. "How I envy you two..."

Yeager regarded Monique, a soft smile on her lips. "I could ask?"

"You could... You had him, all your life... but no mother figure, I'm the opposite of you. I had... Well, two moms... but no Dad... and you... You're stuck somewhere in the middle." Deepshadow explained. "I didn't know how to tell him that I didn't know how I fit into his life... I wasn't sure how to ask."

"The direct approach is what works best with dad. He appreciates honesty and while he won't like it, he will respect you for it." Yeager answered. "Dad had me with Ja'nette Yeager... and he had you with Leah Deepshadow... So we are siblings."

"Human behavior does not work like that," Deepshadow answered before she smiled, she liked the simplistic approach that Yeager seemed to favor. "We share DNA in common, what more could we want?"

"We three, have such issues in this world," McKnight-Yamaguchi answered with a soft sigh. "My issue Monique is the same as yours... Except I know who my mom and dad are... Mom never ended up with my biological dad simply because his eldest hated her, he saw her as a child considering he's older then mom... When things at the last family get-together got out of hand... Iason punched mom in the face, breaking her nose. I watched Dad come unglued..."

"It was... downright stupid..." Yeager admitted.

"Wait. you were there for that?" Deepshadow inquired.

"I was," Yeager explained. "Melody is sugar-coating what happened. He hauled off and smashed her face in. Dad spent more time keeping Orthos from losing his mind... Even though Dad wanted to kill Iason McKnight for his affront to his spouse..."

"Orthos... Wait.. as in Orthos McKnight.?" Deepshadow paused as she regarded McKnight-Yamaguchi. "You have better genes then I ever imagined." as she smiled at the other woman before her.

"Thanks... I... I think..." Melody answered in a hesitant tone of voice.

"Oh, I mean that as a compliment," Deepshadow commented.

"Come on, you're presence is requested at the table... We decided to come and collect you." Yeager responded with a gentle smile. "Mom is expecting you."

Deepshadow regarded the larger woman before her, she was the smallest of the three women present. "I envy you..." she admitted. "You fit in so... so easily... I don't know where I fit in." she let out a soft sigh as she decided to go in and tell the other two women before her. "I didn't know who my dad was until a couple of years ago... But he intimidates me... I never had a father figure before... I feel he'd get angry if I said this to his-" was as far as she got before Yeager gently took the smaller woman's hand in her own.

"We're not having this chat here..." Yeager responded. "I'm his daughter, raised by him alone... Nobody else was involved with Dad except me... I was his only child that he raised to adulthood alone... I've said far worse to him and he's never gotten angry with me... He will make sure you know how he feels with you, but he won't scream at you or get angry with you." Yeager gently gave the smaller woman before her a hug. "Trust me with this... Davijaan Yeager will listen to you. He's listened to me for years... He's dealt with a demanding, overly unruly, and highly over the top child... She turned into me." as she gently placed her hand onto Monique's shoulder. "You are my sibling... My dad is your dad... He needs to hear this..."

"How?" Deepshadow paused.

"Tell him directly, tell him... what you just told me." Yeager smiled. "He'll listen to you. Because he does need to know why you aren't coming to events... He does try... But you can't connect... and he needs to know why... and he needs to hear it from you." she said it quietly. "Come on... They're waiting for us..." as she slowly smiled. "Melody and I will be there and I know mom will be concerned too..."

Melody nodded with a smile of her own. "We're not going anywhere... Besides. I had my own issues with the man... Was he like Jerome Hunt, who treated my mother in ways that I'll never forgive him for."

"Like I said... Before this issue gets out of hand... We need to address the matter... We will be there while you say this... and do not feel you need to be afraid... Dad will listen to you... He's listened to Melody... I was there for that..."

"Alright." Deepshadow slowly smiled. "Let's do this..."
