Mission: Mission 93: Home Grown Fear and Terror
Location: B kayor hospital facility
Timeline: August 21 2392

Krisk Bimpk was not a particularly happy woman. She had been drafted some time ago to help out with the huge multi square kilometer long hospital complex on B Kayor, and working with all these Borg absolutely creeped her out. She wondered why they couldn't just exterminate all the Borg and be done with it. And even then, they gave her a very indignant job in all this, administration work, which kept her away from her CMO position on Lancaster and she had to work with an overbearing CO.

So when Bruce Frasier walked up to the front desk, Bimpk looked at him saying. "What do you want."

Frasier regarded her with a rather nasty glare. "I'm here for my medical appointment. Why?. You unable to handle that?" he growled. "Or are you just putting on a special effort for my amusement!." with a serious attitude problem, Bimpk slapped a PADD on the desk, "Fine, then, sign in."

Fraiser glared at her as he snatched the PADD from the desk. "Idiot woman. What the fuck is your problem!?" he snapped angrily back at her.

As soon as Fraser turned his back, Bimpk shot him the bird. However, one man walked by and noticed Scorch, then started moving away rather quickly.

The man walking past did not go unnoticed on Scorch who narrowed his eyes. "Wait a minute," he mumbled softly while he began following the other man. "Marcus. Hey, wait!?"

Marcus Fraiser sighed. "Shit." and with that, he rounded the corner and started running for the nearest stairwell. He did not get far before Scorch came around the corner after him. The two carried on this merry chase for nearly a kilometer until Marcus managed to loose Scorch in a stairwell.

Scorch narrowed his eyes before he opted to carry on heading down to the lower level. "Marcus, you aren't very subtle. What are you up to.?" he asked aloud as he made his way towards the entrance.

A moment later. Marcus meanwhile emerged from the side entrance as he looked left and then right, his brother was nowhere to be seen while an evil smile appeared on his face before he made his way out the door.

Marcus walked into the shuttle lot before he made his way quickly over to his shuttle. Meanwhile, Scorch came out of the front door, he spotted his brother again over fifty feet away, the two made eye contact as Marcus turned and fled quickly.

Scorch knew he'd never catch him in time so he sighed as he simply gave up the chase. "Marcus, what the fuck are you playing at?"

Suddenly, a massive explosion went off in the building, knocking everyone nearby to the ground. It was a good thing the hospital was constructed of Zochalt steel, the same material used to construct Akurian starships, as it allowed the building to contain the kiloton grade nuclear bomb, plus the sheer size of the structure. However, the explosion swept its way through multiple floors and spread throughout a considerable portion of the building. thousands of Federation Personnel, Akurian service members, and former Borg were killed in an instant. Thousands more received a massive dose of radiation from the fission device.

Even Firespirit, who was over a kilometer away from the explosion was knocked from his feet as his building was physically pushed several feet sideways by the power of the explosion.

Raskar Wuko and his battalion, who were even further away handling security on the other side of the complex, nearly two kilometers from the epicenter felt the explosion hit hard.

Scorch found himself flat on his face, as he ended up being hurled across the shuttle parking lot and into a nearby lake, the force of the impact and the sound stunned him but the water impact woke him back up again, otherwise, he would have drowned.

Scorch kicked before he swam to the surface. "Uhh.." he coughed and spat out a half mouthful of lake water as he floated on the surface before he began making his way towards shore.

Back in his office, Firespirit got on his feet then went for the intercom, only to find that it was dead, the power to the building was out. Next, he tried his combadge, which was also out. Though the device still beeped, it wouldn't connect with anyone, telling him that the central control computer must have been knocked out.

Likewise, Raskar Wuko experienced similar difficulties. He then helped Duval get back to his feet while Darktail scanned the area with a tricorder, and the readings were troubling. "Looks like we had a large explosion towards the middle of the hospital complex, high radiation, I think this may have been a nuclear bomb."

Duval turned his head. "A nuke. Wow. Now that's just primitive." he paused. "The security systems wouldn't be scanning for those." he paused. "Our comms are completely down," he added.

"It may be primitive, but its effective, Darktail replied grimly. He then closed his tricorder saying. "We better get as many people out of here as quickly as possible, considering the radiation hazard."

Duval nodded. "I'd best go round up the rest of the battalion skipper," he responded. "We need some anti-radiation armor before we go in."

"I can't get in touch with our ships," Raskar replied, "And that's where our armor is located, so stay out of any high radiation zones, focus on evacuating the outer zones of the hospital."

Meanwhile, Duval looked over at his skipper. "I'm going to try and make my way over to Camp Bonehead. Get the units there rallied and up to speed." before he sighed softly and got going, the sooner he started, the sooner he could get there.

Meanwhile, at 1st Battalion's camp named Camp Bonehead, all the prefabricated structures had been knocked down. "What the hell was that?" Werner asked as he pulled himself from a broken prefab.

"I think that was a big blast." Answered Bug, still underneath the wreckage.

"Ya think so?" Werner asked, sarcastically.

"Yeah, I do. It came from the big hospital we are building. Maybe we should try and bring them up on the comms?" Bug asked.

"Already tried that. They're down." Werner replied.

A few minutes went by as Duval moved across the countryside at speed, heading towards his destination before he entered Camp Bonehead. Duval entered the ruined remnants of the camp as he spotted Werner. "Gunny!" he called loudly before moving to assist Werner with the items he was moving. "Whats going on here?" Duval inquired. "The comms are down all over the place." he paused. "Is the skipper okay?"

"I'm here!" Hobbs shouted as she climbed out of the tent's remains. "Are our vehicles still running?" She asked anyone that would answer.

Duval smiled. "Hey Colonel." he addressed her. "The EMP knocked out my units vehicles but I doubt we've had time to check yours."

Hobbs looked at Werner. "Get people on the vehicles. If any work get into the air and see if the crew can find out what happened. Also, get comms up. The tech eggheads should have some shielded parts."

Duval watched the Gunny depart. "The other units are organizing also Colonel but it's slow going and we don't have the anti-radiation suits we need to get to the hospital."

"So contact the fleet and get them down here," Hobbs replied. She looked to sh'Zaithil. "Cancel all training. Also, Zaith, get them reading to do rescue and recovery operations."

Duval regarded her before he looked up. "I don't think we're going to have to really do much of anything," he commented. "Considering a blast like that would have been detected in orbit. I'll need to find a shuttle with a working com unit." and with that he moved off from Hobbs, intending on doing just that.

Duval moved into the nearby shuttle parking lot as an Intrepid-class ship flew overhead while she came in for a landing nearby, several Freighter craft were following the Intrepid. Duval smiled as he read the name stenciled across the ships hull. "U.S.S. Intrepid."

Duval noticed that many of the shuttles were intact, shielded by Camp Bonehead which had taken the brunt of the damage from the shock pulse.

Duval moved over to the Co-Pilots station, he activated the com system. "This is Sergent Major Duval. Mayday. Mayday. Someone detonated an old style nuclear warhead inside the hospital. Does anyone read me?"

Ryuukei who was sitting on the bridge of the noble heard the call," This is the Noble, I read you, what is your status."

Quickly. Duval outlined his issues, the situation and his request for aid. "In short Noble, we can't get near the hospital. Some asshole detonated some kind of nuke so we got a lot of hard radiation floating around. Could you send us a few guys to help with the cleanup?" he inquired.

"Yuor going to get more than a few," Ryuukei affirmed as he used his AI to contact both the Noble's Hazmat teams, medical, and army detachments. "You should get help within ten to fifteen minutes. I am also notifying any nearby emergency services to come help as well."

Duval smiled. "Thank you Noble." he explained as he activated an emergency beacon. "Send your guys and units to my beacon." he clearly was assuming he was only going to get a few dozen guys to help.

Within fifteen minutes more than a dozen large akurian shuttles landed, each carrying over a hundred personnel and robots. They wasted no time conducting rescue operations. Shortly after the Akurians landed Division Admiral Kumirae walked up to Duval.

Duval meanwhile had gathered a few marines and was presently going through all of the medkits on the shuttles presently parked here. "Bring the wounded over there, the medics can sift through them over there and then sort it from there." he turned as he regarded a small person walked towards him. "Yes. What do you need?" he inquired.

"Inform your unit to evacuate," Kumirae replied sternly, "The whole hospital needs to be evacuated to the ships in orbit, immediately."

Duval nodded, not even questioning. "Everyone, begin evacuation of this facility. Get the wounded into the shuttles." he shifted his attention, looking skyward as more runabouts came in, followed by several landing capable starships, four Intrepid-class ships were among them. "More ships, good we'll need them." he turned his attention back to Kumirae. "Where else has this happened?"

"So far, they succeeded at this one location. There were attempts at four other locations, but they were foiled through various means." Kumirae answered, "three of them where Romulan refugee camps along the old neutral zone, one was a predominately Klingon hospital on Sherman's planet, plus we just had someone attempt to assassinate the president."

Duval nodded. "Fucking hell," he responded before he turned back to address her. "I think I should look at the casualty list. I had one of my relatives at Sherman's planet."

"These events just happened," Kumirae remarked. "Don't expect casualty lists to come out for at least a few days."

"Well, whoever did it just ended up on the Federations shit list," Duval answered. "Do we know who did this?"

"Unfortunately, no," Kumirae answered, " Just help get these people out of here, that's the priority right now."

"Yessir," Duval answered evenly before he turned and went about seeing it done. "Alright, my guys, with me!"

Meanwhuile Scorch entered the shuttle yard, he looked wounded as he wheezed softly as a medic came over to him. "Major. Let me have a look at you."

"Okay." Scorch responded before he sat down, hissing in pain as he did so.
