Sworn Oaths

Mission: Mission 94: Shattered Shields and Crack'd Swords
Location: Various Locations - USS Heart of the Tiger
Timeline: 0900Hrs - August 22nd, 2392

Lieutenant Tolian Brevik regarded the dozen or so personnel gathered before him, he wore a scowl on his face and he looked unimpressed so he cleared his throat before he started. "Good Morning Ladies and gentlemen, you lot are the last members of the Operations personnel that have been assigned to this ship and I have been asked to give you the rundown on how this ship will work," Brevik explained, he kept his voice soft and level, he did not raise his voice at any time in his announcement whatsoever.

Brevik shifted his attention so he looked at each one of the people before him. "Okay, This ship is brand new so we're still figuring out a lot of how things will work so if you have ideas, do not hesitate to speak up. I don't like people who are intelligent but have no tongue." he regarded Melody Yamaguchi-McKnight with a look before he shifted his attention to someone else. "Ten minutes from now is too late, if you have ideas then I want them right then and there," Brevik explained. "Understood?"

"Yessir." a half dozen of the officers responded while some of the others nodded their heads. "Alright," Brevik answered. "Dealing with these new issues will require a watchful eye, nerves of steel, steady hands, and stout hearts. Your section leaders will have your orders and they are located in the next room. Dismissed." Brevik turned away as the dozen or so officers filed out of the room.

Brevik sat down at the empty desk before he replicated himself something to drink when he noticed a new arrival who had just entered the room. "Jordal Hunt. You are not what I expected to bother me so soon in the day. To what do I owe the pleasure?" Brevik inquired, in an even tone of voice as he regarded the larger being who was more of the same size as Brevik himself.

Hunt ambled on over to the man who was larger then he, himself was. "Hey Tolian, this came for you. It is from Rear Admiral Jake Yamaguchi and was sent over a month ago, but it's only getting here now because of screwups." Hunt sighed. "Fucking bugs.."

"Lovely," Brevik answered as he accepted the PADD from Hunt. "Thanks. where do I sign?"

Hunt handed him a second PADD. "Here you go Tolian, hopefully, its good news," he commented.

"Nah, it's from an Admiral and that's never good news." Brevik sighed softly as he dropped the PADD onto the desk. "I'll see what they want in a moment," he added before Brevik smiled. "Thank you, Jordal, for bringing this to me."

"Yeah. seeya 'round." and with that, the two men parted company as Brevik tapped the PADD once, he was promoted to tap in his command codes which he did so. The face of Jake Yamaguchi appeared on the screen before him. "Captain Brevik. Since time is short, I'll make this quick. I need for you to accept your rank back and the command of the USS Solemn Penance. She's a new Champion class armored carrier and you have what she requires to operate, you have carrier experience and we served together while we were on the Courageous together. That's why I come to you because I know you've suffered and lost but I need you Tolian. Solemn Penance needs a good and experienced skipper. I happen to know you are capable even if you don't think so." Yamaguchi paused. "Do not let what happened at your article thirty-two bother you as I knew then you were innocent of any wrongdoing." he paused. "If you decide to accept then let your department head know and then head to Starbase 12, you'll be looking to talk to the base commander for the assignment to the Solemn Penance. Good luck Captain. Yamaguchi out." and with that, the message ended.

Brevik knew that this was not something that came his way often and while he had his issues which he needed to work through and deal with, he also knew that he was still a Starfleet Captain and that if someone believed in Brevik enough to ask this of him, then Brevik had no right to honestly refuse him.

"I accept." and with that, Brevik rose to his feet to do exactly what the message had requested of him. His next stop was Captain Rykar and the command he had been requested to assume.
