Mission: Mission 88: We Must have Bloody Noses and Crack'd Crowns
Location: USS Lethal Shadow - Outer Archanis System
Timeline: 1230Hrs - May 29th, 2392

Captain Bolvar 'Highlord' Fordragon smiled as he watched the three Klingon bases in the outer system wink off of the sensor display. "Nice. They did it." Commander Melissa Bateman commented, a cheery tone in her voice. "I mean the assault force has succeeded sir." she addressed Fordragon who honestly did not care that she violated protocol but he was never that big on the matter anyway. "We breached their defenses."

"Have we?" Fordragon inquired with a good natured smile. "Have we indeed?" he asked a second time.

"It certainly appears that way Captain." Lt Colonel Kelsey Lange who was otherwise known as 'Monk' or 'The Monk'. "Why?. Do you know something we don't?" the smaller woman inquired as she regarded Fordragon.

"Perhaps," Fordragon commented quietly. "How many Klingon ships are presently standing?"

"Last count said forty-four skipper." came the response from Commander Fernando Lopez. Seated in his chair at the right side of the skipper as was traditional for first officers, he smiled as he regarded the sensor display of the system. "That leaves one base in the outer system remaining intact," Lopez added.

"Alright. Contact the rest of the Fleet. Tell them to prepare to engage the enemy." Fordragon said calmly and slowly to his Operations Chief before he shifted his attention to his first officer who was seated off to his right, the traditional space for Executive Officers to be seated.

Commander Melissa Bateman, the Chief Operations Officer for the USS Lethal Shadow nodded her head, indicating she understood what was being asked of her. "Aye skipper," she responded as the woman went to work.

Commander Fernando Lopez smiled as he gently tapped his armrest once. His console unfolded from the chair at his right side as he checked the display before him, it had a countdown timer in the center of the console. "Five minutes skipper."

Fordragon commented. "Very well. Set a course for Archanis Three and tell the troops to prepare for drop. I assume that Monk is going to love this?"

"Oh, she will. I doubt she'll appreciate sending her troops into battle but she'll get over it." Lopez clarified for his skipper, his nod was all the indication one needed that Fordragon understood full well what was going on below decks with the marines onboard the USS Lethal Shadow and the other ships that carried them into the coming battle.

"Lange to bridge. My guys and gals are ready to down here. Soon as you give the word, we'll be ready to press in one minute from your say so." The voice of the Monk came across the bridge.

"Excellent Colonel and other than an old Egyptian blessing, I can't think of anything else," Fordragon responded.

Monk knew to which blessing the Captain was talking about. "Agreed sir." The shorter than average native American female smiled. "I'll see you on the other side. Out." and with that, the comm went dead as she hung up on the Captain of the ship.

"Helm, engage when ready. Order all our other ships to do the same." Fordragon ordered the stars turned into starlines as the small Federation fleet went to warp, heading down the system's gravity well towards Archanis Three.

The stars snapped back to stars moments later as the planet rapidly swelled in size from nothing to the size of a watermelon had it been held at arm's length from Fordragon's face. "Deploy the fleet and destroy the Klingon forces present here," Fordragon ordered.

The Federation forces turned to face the Klingons before they began launching their ordinance, meanwhile on the Operations deck of the Klingon Starbase. the General had no idea the Federation had such fire for battle. "bISeH'eghlaH'be'chugh latlh Dara'laH'be"
One officer shouted to a subordinate. The General meanwhile translated what was said into "If you cannot control yourself, you cannot command others." a useful bit of knowledge to know.

The general proceeded to rattle off the usual orders that one typically gave in a situation like this, like power to shields and weapons, extra power to sensors and deploy security.

Meanwhile back on the USS Lethal Shadow. Captain Fordragon smiled. "We took them by surprise. Open fire.."

The entire Federation force opened fire on command, with all of their weapons on the Klingon base, their phaser blasts reached the base's shields first followed by several hundred quantum missiles, all of which smashed into the base's shields, quickly collapsing them before several hundred marines beamed over to the Klingon base and began battling the Klingons in hand to hand combat.

Fordragon sat and watched the battle go down for the control of Archanis Three from the comfort of his command chair as he knew that hundreds were fighting over on the orbital station. "Sir. Klingon ships decloaking." Commander Grace Trueheart commented, a rather dark smile on her face.

"Take them out," Fordragon responded.

"Gladly." the lean woman responded before she went to work at her panel, launching hundred's more missiles from launchers at the new Klingon ships that had just arrived, with dozens of warheads exploding over almost every single ship in the Klingon fleet as they returned fire, however, the Federation fleet was more coordinated and more effective as the Klingon ships began exploding.

"Strike one to Lethal Shadow. Missions complete. The base is ours." came the sudden announcement over the com system. The bases' IFF went from Klingon to Federation before what remaining weapons that were operational, began shooting at the Klingons, cutting through two Klingon birds of prey, shattering both of them in one smooth motion.

The battle was short as two-thirds of the Klingon force of some thirty ships fell to the Federation forces' guns before the remaining ten ships broke off and ran for it, one of them suddenly exploded due to damage but the remaining eight escaped into warp, out of the system, leaving the Federation fleet in control of the Archanis system.
