| Personal History | Bartholomew Mancuso was born in 2343 on Arcadia Colony. The world was lightly populated and quite the vacation resort. While growing up on Arcadia, Bar never lacked for anything to do as he would go out into the jungles and assorted woodlands to see what was out there. He went out into the woods again and again, it was in the jungles one day that he observed a mother Harankarr giving birth to her young when an ambush predator attacked, Mancuso attacked the predator as the Harankarr turned to defend her babies. Mancuso received a shoulder wound for his trouble but he was able to injure the attacker, a Mountain Banshee so it fled, he then turned and departed as he knew now that the Mother Harankarr regarded him as a threat, still he did not regret his actions. When he came of age, he decided to join Starfleet rather then remain at home on Arcadia colony as his brothers had done,. his youngest brother seeing so many leave, decided to remain and further explore Arcadia's wild green spaces and lush places. His time at the academy was different to say the least as he had to adjust from the outdoors and rugged lifestyle he had grown up with and conform to the drag and utilitarian lifestyle that Starfleet promoted. Mancuso almost didn't make it through the academy as he found it too regimented and far too controlling for his own good. After struggling through the academy, he was posted to the USS Valdemar. An Ambassador Class starship fresh from refitting. His service here was highly educational, his eyes were opened in several ways as he got to experience the cultures and customs of various Federation colonies. His next assignment was the USS Marathon, One of the newest Galaxy class starships yet commissioned in early 2370, Mancuso was promoted to Lieutenant and transferred to become one of their new medical personnel. His service on the USS Marathon was more of the same, patrolling Federation worlds until the Klingon War began, the Marathon along with three other ships was assigned to defend Sherman's planet against a Klingon attack. While the first attack was beaten off, the Marathon was still dealt some major casualties. Mancuso and his people swung into action, doing what they did best. Saving lives. After several hours they were able to save nearly everyone but also they lost people too, such is war. Over time, Mancuso developed something of a no-nonsense reputation for the medical personnel under his command as he tended to find himself training the newbies and the younger officers under his command. From the Saracen to the Saladin, from the Ticonderoga to the Trafalgar. Mancuso showed he was able to handle the worst cases of the galaxy's mistakes and botched attempts at peace as he ended up cleaning up the messes and the lives ruined from war. Bar met a woman named Wei Lin Lee Chang, the two quickly learned they had much in common as they ended up spending a lot of time working together thanks to various assignments, she was a science officer and he was a medical officer. Within two years, they were married and five years, they had three children with their forth well on the way. Mancuso also spent time undergoing education regarding his medical knowledge as he earned four degrees for pediatric medicine and medicine for children. Mancuso's most recent assignment to the USS Rowling promises to be his most interesting to date. However it was not to last as the Rowling went in for a major refit from a carrier to a gunship. Mancuso was instead offered the posting of Chief Medical Officer aboard USS Lethal Shadow and he has accepted. |
