| Personal History | Bolvar Fordragon is one of those guys who had originally preferred to lurk in the shadows but he got more mileage out of being a Doctor, he also had a fascination with medieval warfare and lifestyle, it gave him the nickname of 'Paladin' and later since he created a set of plate armor for himself to use off duty in the holodeck. Word of it got out on his second assignment and since he was trapped on the holodeck, he was able to force his way out and make his way to the bridge, wearing full plate armor with a massive war axe of a weapon, attached to his back, over his cape, it was later revealed that he placed a magnetic generator there to hold the weapon attached to him. Fordragon showcased his command skills which he had an innate talent for it, it didn't help that he claimed an ancestry going back to Edward the Third, descended from his second son and word of that little detail got out. While Bolvar fought the Klingon's during the Klingon War of 2372, the Dominion, their Cardassian and later their Breen allies a couple of years later and he treated everyone who came across his table, he saved many but he lost some as well, as time went by his nickname of 'Paladin' slowly became 'Highlord' especially when someone found out that there was a character in a computer game that just so happened to match his own name. In 2378, after an incident on the USS Dragon Fire, where he was forced to assume command after an explosion killed the Captain of the ship and badly wounded the Executive Officer, he was recommended for command school, a decision he made almost instantly. He went to the fall intake of Starfleet Academy's prestigious command school and here, he did well, even graduating in the top ten of his class of sixty students, which had been whittled down from almost two hundred, he was assigned to become Executive Officer of a Sovereign class ship. Here his skills flourished as never before, his commanding officer took him seriously where the last one he had on his previous assignment always scoffed at him because of his nickname, it was also here he got to exhibit his jousting skills at a medieval tournament while hosting a party of Klingon's, who were greatly impressed by Bolvar's skill with a blade and his sense of honor. The leader of the Klingon's, a man named Klaag inquired as to his name. the response he got back was 'Highlord Bolvar Fordragon.' Klaag was surprised but he was impressed with this man combat prowess, that by itself was saying something, whats more was that Bolvar was offered membership in Klaag's house but he politely declined, saying he was not worthy of such an honor, someday he would be but not now. The two men parted as friends and remain in touch to this day, six months after this Bolvar was offered command of the Pathfinder One class starship, the USS Irrational Retribution, he accepted her considering her a relic of the Dominion War who had served her time well, however this didn't give him the right to look down on her as he considered his ship to be the greatest tool at his command, he assembled a senior staff that were as unusual as he was and off he went for six years of adventures, missions and combat assignments. His time aboard the Irrational Retribution was however cut short when she finally received her orders to pout in for refitting up to Pathfinder Two specifications, the last of her class to do so and rather then wait, he was asked to assume command of the newly commissioned USS Toronto, a Luna Two class starship and for eight months, he was assigned to patrol missions and the odd relief mission here and there, mostly to the Cardassian boarder with many of the old Federation colonies needing assistance of some kind or another. Fordragon and the Toronto quickly made a name for themselves as those who would help the colonies, staying to protect them and assist them with their various needs, alas they were only one ship and one crew and could not be everywhere at once, then in May of 2391, the Toronto was reassigned by Rear Admiral Jake Yamaguchi's request from her previous assignment to the Roanoke's battlegroup. Here she would serve in the Aerospace Early Warning and Support role, something Fordragon and his crew knew how to do exceptionally well. During the Starfleet Military Reorganization Act of 2391, his position was changed as he was over-ranked for the ship he was commanding so he was offered command of the newly commissioned USS Lethal Shadow instead. He accepted and was transferred away from Roanoke's battlegroup back to commanding a battleship elsewhere. |
