Besides there's just something weird about food appearing out of thin air." Abigail Lopez to Fernando Lopez the day of his wedding. Born in 2352, in Cancun, in Mexico on Earth. Fernando grew up a much loved child with almost boundless opportunities and enthusiasm as he grew up in a family of Chefs. He learned to cook from almost the time he could crawl as he learned quickly what to do and what not to do around a stove. He could cook a full blown steak dinner by age ten and his parents encouraged him to learn all that he could but he had his own interests and rather then curtail him to the cooking world, his folks only encouraged him to succeed and to excel as he had his heart set on going into Starfleet almost from when he was a toddler, there was something about the night sky in Cancun where one could see at sea level here then they could at ten thousand feet in other places. He went off to the academy at age eighteen in 2370 and he graduated with a commission in 2374. He was the first Lopez to do so and several years later his youngest sister enlisted in Starfleet, citing that if her brother could survive the academy then she could handle being enlisted. Lopez fought in the Dominion War from almost first shot to last as his first assignment was sent right to the Dominion lines and he was present for the battle of Tyra or as he privately nicknamed the battle 'The Massacre of Tyra'. He was able to save over two thousand federation personel from almost certain death and he also was able to tow a second Federation ship out of the combat area, they themselves were filled with another two thousand others. Lopez got his first silver star for heroism under fire that day, by wars end he would have three bronze stars, a silver star and the grankite order of tactics, as well as a promotion to Lieutenant. The last was due to wartime losses. He requested reassignment after the en of the war to something quieter which his skipper did not begrudge him, so off he went to the USS San Quentin, a Nova class ship which he ultimately found to be a disappointment, everyone here was happy to have skipped the war as they didn't fight in it. It was an attitude that rubbed Fernando the wrong way so he stuck in for reassignment a second time a year after arriving. His next assignment was one he found to me more rewarding. He was packed off to the USS Malinche, under the command of Captain George Sanders who had commanded her since twenty three sixty one and he seemed to be in no rush to leave his command. He was the one who ultimately took Lopez under his wing and Lopez learned more in two years here then he had in his entire career before. He learned a great deal but he also developed an eye for the ladies and as time went by, he learned many of the principles of seduction, how it was done and how it was done to him. in 2380, he was promoted to Commander and offered the chance to go into command and earn a ship of his own. Also it was aboard the USS First Minister that he met a woman unlike most others as he tended to go for simple women who were either idiotic or downright stupid at times but Grace Trueheart was something else. She was a Special Forces Ranger and she liked bringing death and destruction to her enemies. Needless to say that she helped Lopez cope with a family tragedy and the two developed a relationship over time. She wanted to give it time and he agreed which surprised her. He proposed a year later to her but that was after he had gotten her pregnant with twins, she accepted and Fernando was able to start his family sooner then he had planned but he didn't mind as his career was doing well for itself and now his family life would pick up as well. Fernando decided he wanted his children to be able to eat from real food sources rather then replicators. Trueheart and Lopez got married at his home on Earth and since she was the last Trueheart, one of their sons would carry her name while the rest carried his and she also kept her name as well as his too. He remained aboard the USS Alabama until mid-2391 when he was offered the chance to become Exec of a new Pathfinder Three class battleship, he accepted as he was promised a chance to command one of the meanest Federation ships yet built. Fernando's goals had changed and he was in no rush to get to the centre seat but he knew it would come in time. That chance came in late 2393 when he was offered the command of the USS Halcyon, a new Champion class starship. He accepted and bid the USS Lethal Shadow farewell. |
