Posted on Thu Mar 12th, 2020 @ 3:25am by Admiral Jake Yamaguchi & Post Captain Plataea "Phantom" Lasky & Grand Admiral April Yamaguchi

Mission: Mission 86: A Hero Falls
Location: Various Locations - Watchman Station and USS Dreamcrusher
Timeline: 1930Hrs - May 17th, 2392

Rear Admiral Jake Yamaguchi was seated in his office on Watchman Station, going over a few reports as he sighed before dropping the PADD in his hands onto his desk, it landed with a loud slapping sound while Yamaguchi ran his hands over his face before brushing both hands through his hair. He was getting tired and frustrated with this workload and it was showing too.

Yamaguchi had been forced to commit over half of IFO to this campaign against the Klingons and he was running out of ships and assets to commit to this effort. "Dammed Klingons," he growled when the door to his office opened and in walked his aide.

Lieutenant Danica Rockwell regarded her boss before she slowly and gently placed the half dozen PADD's onto the table. "Sorry, Bossman... More work for you."

"Yeah," Yamaguchi answered with a soft sigh. "I know.."

Rockwell nodded. "Sorry skipper."

"It's not your fault Danica," Yamaguchi responded quietly. "Thanks for dropping those off for me." as he placed the PADD he had been working on into the 'DONE pile before he selected the next PADD in the pile. "Oh my god, I'm gonna go insane," Jake commented quietly as he read the PADD before he tapped the display twice before he tossed it into the pile. "Done. Let's see." Yamaguchi added quietly.

Yamaguchi leafed through the half dozen PADD's before lifting one at random. He gave the PADD the quick once over. "I believe in miracles.." Yamaguchi sang the line instead of saying it.

The comm system beeped at Jake Yamaguchi. "Jake. You have an incoming call. It's Fleet Admiral Yamaguchi and she wants a moment of your time."

Yamaguchi nodded. "I'll take it in here, thanks, Danica." and with that. Yamaguchi tapped the small display of buttons on his desk, the small monitor slid out of his desk before Yamaguchi gave his authorization code. The message began to play as the face of his eldest sibling appeared on the screen before him. "Jake.." she paused. "I just got told and.." she paused a moment.

Jake knew instantly that something was very wrong in the kingdom of Yamaguchi. "April. What's wrong?"

"It's... It's Torilla." April paused as she fought to control her emotions.

Jake felt his heart stop, he paused as he forced himself to breathe. "April. What's going on?"

"Torilla was killed in action, earlier today Jake, I only just found out myself a moment ago."

Jake paused as he instantly started tuning his sibling out. "I can't believe it.." he paused. "Thank you April," he added, in a very soft tone of voice, suddenly his hand slapped down onto the display as he hung up on April. He had enough time to see her eyes widen right before the screen went black.

Yamaguchi sat at his desk before he snatched up an unused PADD and flung it into the wall nearby, the PADD shattered upon impact. "I should have listened to her!" Jake snarled loudly. "She said she wanted out and I didn't listen to her. Now she's fucking dead because o' me!" right before he lost his self-control and snapped. His right hand snatching up some knickknack from his desk and hurling it into the wall with a loud crunching sound.

Lieutenant Danica Rockwell heard the commotion from outside her bosses office and she knew instantly what had happened, his wife had died and now he was raging because of it, she decided the best move was to stay away from the entire event and wait until he calmed down before checking on Jake Yamaguchi.

Meanwhile onboard the USS Dreamcrusher. Commander Plataea Unal was more or less serving at loose ends since her first command, the USS Nightstalker had been destroyed out from under her a week earlier while on assignment near the Mkralius Outpost that was contested by the Klingons but was never lost by the Gorn. She was more or less not doing anything at present as nobody had bothered to find a use for her on any level whatsoever, well other than paperwork of course which she found she outright detested.

"What the fuck am I doing here?" the middle aged female asked of herself. "It's not like anyone really gives a shit as to what I'm doing here," she added quietly.

Unal tapped the display once as she decided that this item she had in her docket was finished before saving it and sending it off to its destination.

Unal remained seated in her chair as she shifted her position, mostly to restore circulation to various body parts as she was bored beyond belief. "Fuck.." the tall female muttered more to herself than anyone else before she tapped out of the display she was looking at, she decided to check her mail before noticing that her mail icon was flashing at her, she tapped it once.

Plataea Unal raised an eyebrow as she noticed the message waiting for her. It read. 'We Regret to Inform you.'

Unal paused as she knew instantly that four things had just happened, someone had died, someone wearing her name no less and it was one of her children. Jake had just gone insane with rage and grief and Torilla would be little better. Unal paused as she opened the message, wondering who had died.

Was it Ouros?. Unal sighed as she recalled the endless battles her daughter had fought with her own demons named doubt, fear, and anger because of what Jacob had done to her. Now she might find the peace in death that she could never find in life.

Would it be Nebris?. Unal shook her head. "That man has only just sorted himself out and I'm confused as to who he is these days but he's not my daughter, he's now my son." she didn't fully grasp all of the nuances behind his choice to remain as male but she wasn't about to start questioning his choice either. Now when he seemed to reinvent himself and discover who he was in the process.

Would it be Selendis?. Unal hoped not as she liked the relationship that Selendis had cultivated with a Klingon male who was part human and she knew Atin would go mad with a vengeance should anything happen to Selendis.

Unal steeled her heart for the shock to come as she read the message. What she found shocked her. "Torilla. You were the last one I expected to die." she paused as she realized that Gabriel Yamaguchi would have been devastated by this news. Unal closed the message, she then signed off from her computer workstation, then she rose to her feet before departing, her next duty was clear as was her choice. She knew that her son needed her now.

Unal set off to track down Gabriel Yamaguchi as she knew he'd need her now.
