Mission:
Mission 86: A Hero Falls
Location: Various Locations - USS Manticore
Timeline: 1930Hrs - May 17th, 2392
Commander Siaxx Dvald limped into her husbands quarters since her ship was landed on the surface of Goranar, the USS Tranquility had been severely damaged during the last battle that she had been a part of and while the ship was still operational, it was only by chance that the ship's spaceframe was still in one piece and all those who served aboard the Tranquility, knew this little detail.
The small Bolian meanwhile had larger problems she needed to worry about, she was due in for a medical checkup in the next couple of days as she was almost due to deliver her baby, whom at last check, would be a boy.
Dvald sighed softly as she shrugged off her uniform jacket that was almost too small for her body that had been bloated in size as a result of her pregnancy before she sat down on the sofa, bursting into tears as she did so.
Master Chief Chen Vaxx regarded the small, heavily pregnant female, seated on his sofa. "What's wrong Siaxx?" he inquired of her as he gently gathered his severely neglected spouse into his arms.
"I got some bad news today. Torilla Yamaguchi was killed in combat while escorting that supply convoy here," she explained, amidst her tears. "I delivered three of her five children and I delivered Saki Yamaguchi. Rachael's daughter... Torilla's granddaughter." the small Bolian paused. "Oh shit. Saki hasn't been told about her grandmother."
"I assume she won't take it well?" Vaxx inquired as he regarded his spouse, whom he had missed with a passion that was almost physical, just being near her was enough to cause him to become aroused. He was able to suppress it, however.
"Oh fuck no," Dvald responded quietly. "Saki is probably going to lose her mind when she hears this news."
"I don't blame her." Vaxx paused. "I have my own reasons to hate the Klingons. One of them had my sister as a steak." he paused. "He was feeding on her after he spent twenty years torturing her and doing Valen only knows what to her." Vaxx paused. "Sildra's rage was frightening to behold."
"I heard about Merris. I'm sorry." Dvald answered softly.
"She has been laid to rest under the stars that she loved so much." Vaxx sighed. "My parents have closure. I do not and neither does Sildra. I know she wants vengeance. Me... I want answers.."
Dvald regarded him. "I never figured you for being the subtle one."
"That's because I'm not subtle," he responded. "I have no need to be," he added a moment later. "You're the subtle one, wife of mine."
Dvald smiled. "Well it could be worse right?" she inquired.
"Indeed, it could. I heard about Tranquility." Vaxx responded with a deep sigh. "She deserved better than what she got."
"Yes, the engineers are presently giving her the once over but they say isn't looking good for her," Dvald answered. "My first command and it's looking more and more like she might be heading to the scrap heap."
Vaxx knew how attached some people tended to get attached to the ships under their command, he regarded Dvald. "You did the best you could. It wasn't your fault that the Klingons singled her out for destruction. The fact that you and your ship survived with as few losses as you have, speaks to your skills of command." he smiled.
"You are too kind. I wish I felt the same way."
"You are being too hard on yourself Siaxx," Vaxx responded with a smile.
"Am I?" Dvald asked herself and him, both at the same time. "I don't know... I mean I don't think I'm doing anything, thinking like this. I mean I got my son on the way.. and I can't show him to Torilla because some Klingon bastard took her from me!" she paused. "I fucking hate them. I hate them all..." as Dvald's temper fused white hot before she broke down a second time. "Fuck them all. We should fucking exterminate them from the universe forever."
Vaxx regarded her in silence as he decided to let her get the rage out of her system, so to speak as the more she did now, it would help her later on. "Go on."
Dvald responded with an angry snarl. "She was the best friend I ever had. She was the mother to one of my finest students, another of her children was someone I spent eight years with, stranded for all that time on Yeneer G2 and I helped raise her granddaughter. Torilla was many things but she knew her duty and while she hated the uniform, she loved her command, her children, and her pets."
"Pets?" Vaxx inquired. "I didn't think Captain Yamaguchi was a pet lover."
"Oh yes, she had Silversides, a cat we rescued and she had a litter of six. Torilla kept all seven cats. She also inherited two king shepherd dogs too." she paused. "They were nicknamed 'Noble team'. I think it was a pop culture reference to... something, I forget what, the two dogs were named Grey Wind and Nymeria. They came with those names and she took good care of them, they went everywhere with Torilla, I mean hell, they even slept on her bed with her."
"Now that's the sign of a real animal lover," Vaxx responded quietly. "I didn't know."
"The pets who shared her life will take this poorly," Dvald responded with a soft sigh. "I don't want to know how Jake will take the death of his wife. I suspect that what their children are going through will be nothing compared to his rage and grief. I do not wish to be in hailing range for whoever breaks the news to him."
"I can only imagine how crazy it's going to get around him," Vaxx responded. "Siaxx.." he paused as he gently rubbed his wife's shoulders. "Think of your little one. He's due soon and he'll need his mother to have her head in the game."
"I know," Siaxx responded as she shifted her attention from him down to her bloated belly where her son slept on in blissful ignorance of the dramatic news that was presently shaping his world to come.
"Will you be staying here tonight?" Vaxx inquired.
"No. I need to remain on Tranquility, just in case this little guy sticks in an appearance. They are prepared for any eventuality with me." Dvald explained softly. "Sorry Chen."
"It's fine Siaxx. I know you are committed to the cause and I do not wish to cause issues for you." the massive Bolian commented.
"It's not a serious concern. I am Bolian after all." she nodded to the bedroom. "So long as you are gentle with me. I see no concerns with a little light passion. God knows I've not been bedded in a long time." as she smiled, she then shrugged off her uniform jacket.
"I can alleviate that for you," Vaxx responded as he rose to his feet. "Shall we?"
"We shall," Dvald responded, making up her mind. "After you."
With that, Vaxx led Dvald into his bedroom before closing the door behind him.
