Mission:
Mission 79: Sound Trumpets! Let Our bloody Colors Wave
Location: The Kilrogg System - Various Locations
Timeline: 0200Hrs - April 16th, 2392
Major John Lancaster nodded his head. "Guys, you heard the Colonel..." as he ducked a disruptor blast that only missed him by inches, he quickly lifted his rifle, he looked at the Klingons downrange as the scope told him it had no way to achieve the shot he wanted. "Snipers.. Take out their eyes.."
The responses from the dozen or so snipers Lancaster had come back over the com. He smiled. "Fire at will."
Within minutes the snipers began clearing away the Klingons who were exposed, meanwhile up in orbit the battle scene was chaotic as the Federation forces clashed with the Klingon forces. While individual ships continued their duels to the death, the battleships USS Victorious and the USS Theseus, along with USS Song of the Mountain and the USS Shield of Sparta of the older Renown class, proceeded to lay waste to the Klingon fleets escorting ships while the destroyers and cruisers proceeded with a harrying action against the Klingon's larger ships.
Division Admiral Talon Yeager watched in silence as she had already given all the orders she had needed to give, while the Federation forces were dishing it out to the Klingons but they were taking a beating too when suddenly one of the Klingon battleships exploded, followed by several escorts.
Yeager smiled. "Shield of Sparta, fine work... now shift your attention to that battlecruiser that's trying to flank you."
"Copy that Admiral. We're on it." responded a male voice that Talon didn't know.
Yeager settled in to resume watching the battle unfolding. "Mmmm.." she narrowed her eyes. "All is going as planned."
Lieutenant Samantha Yeager, better known as Sammy nodded. "Are you sure?" the younger woman asked her stepmother by marriage. "The Klingon's have two carriers that might try a cross-drop on you."
Talon smiled as she tapped the display. "Victorious. Song of the Mountain. Take out those carriers..." she commented as she watched one of her battleship's slowly turn about, before being reinforced by a single battlecruiser before both ships opened fire, quickly hosing down the first carrier with ordinance, within moments the Klingon ship turned but didn't escape as she exploded a moment later, moments later the second carrier began taking rounds from the two Federation ships, as explosions began to wreath in fire and smoke before she turned and went to flee but several Federation destroyers cut off the carrier and demolished her as she attempted to flee.
Talon watched as the Federation forces around her made short work of the Klingon fleet, a smile appearing on her face. "Sometimes... I love my work.."
Meanwhile planetside. Colonel Bronwyn Yamaguchi sighed softly while she was lying on the large snowfield, she regarded the half dozen Klingon targets within range of her weapon but she was alone because she had been the last to jump and she was out of position. "Arrgghh.." the female growled softly.
Several Federation Marine squads had managed to penetrate into the base that the Gorn had established and were presently ducking it out with the remaining Klingon shock troops, no call for surrender had been issued and none would be issued either.
Major Lancaster turned to the marine beside him. "Where is the Colonel?"
"I have no idea, sir... Last I heard, she was out in that ice field... but there are several Klingons between her and us..."
Lancaster sighed softly. "Fine.. detail two squads to go find out where she is... I'm going to go into the building with the rest of our troops.
Meanwhile, deep inside the facility. The Gorn forces were keeping up a resistance battle against the Klingons, fighting room by room. Grosh'thar was still alive and leading his troops in the battle for the base, however, he was far too few and now in the base reactor facility. He was preparing to demolish the base.
Grosh'thar turned. "How long?"
"It'll be another ten minutes.." came the response.
"Very well.." the massive Gorn sighed softly.
"Sir. I'm detecting Federation forces present in the system... and I have Federation lifesigns planetside, must be Starfleet's Marines.." came the unexpected shout from across the room.
Grosh'thar turned. "What?"
"Yessir. I'm reading over two thousand marines planetside. They outnumber the Klingons by almost two to one."
"Who outnumber us by five to one," Grosh'thar growled softly. "Very well... We give them fifteen minutes to drive the Klingons out or to kill them all."
The remaining Gorn nodded their heads, signaling their compliance.
Meanwhile out on the snowfields. Bronwyn Yamaguchi sighed softly as she took aim before she fired one round at the first Klingon, the round exploded against him, killing him instantly as she dispatched a second and a third before the other three began returning fire on her location. Yamaguchi moved quickly as their return fire went wild, however, it wasn't by much.
Yamaguchi moved before she shot at a fourth and missed, however she hit the fifth guy but she missed on the sixth guy.
The eight Marines looking for her, noticed the weapons fire. "Come on lads. There she is." as they moved in to assist the Colonel.
Yamaguchi smiled as she moved but one round took out her rifle which meant she was now down to her sidearm, also and more critically she was almost helpless against her two attackers as she moved again, keeping low she began moving across, trying to get away from them.
It was then that the Federation Marines opened fire, quickly taking out the two Klingon Marines.
Yamaguchi noticed the large figures approaching her but she couldn;t make them out. "Leicester?"
"Square" came to the response. Yamaguchi let out a sigh. "Dammit... I'm glad to see you guys," she commented as they got close to her. "Colonel... you okay?"
"I've been better... Just lost my rifle to these goons." Yamaguchi responded in a dry tone. "I look worse than I actually feel... what's the situation?"
"The Klingon forces outside have been defeated and now we're pushing them back into the facility." came the response. "Also no sign of contact with the Gorn either."
"So.. they could be hiding inside and they might blow the facility if we don't contact them," Yamaguchi answered before she turned. "Take me to the command post."
"Yessir. Right this way." and with that, the Marines led the Colonel to her destination.
Several minutes later, she entered a small area where three Federation shuttles were resting, with their sterns facing each other. "Sir." the Major of the communications section commented. "We're trying to contact the Gorn now."
"Okay," Yamaguchi commented as a face of a Gorn appeared on the screen. "Greetings Federations. I am General Grosh'thar, I command the base here... What is it that you wish?"
"I'm Colonel Bronwyn Yamaguchi... I'd like to request that you not blow this facility up, not with my men inside it.." Yamaguchi answered.
"I see... The Klingons approach my area... I have already taken heavy losses. "
"I understand," Yamaguchi answered with a smile. "However with some time, we will have the Klingons flushed out shortly. Do you have any life support remaining on the base?"
"We have limited life support..." The Gorn answered.
"Flood all areas you control except where you are with anesthetizing gas. That will deplete the Klingons numbers... Then you can attack... Just make sure not to kill my guys.."
