Mission: Mission 70: Children and the Workplace do Not Mix
Location: The Ryazar's Shield - Low orbit over B Kayor
Timeline: 1730Hrs - April 7th, 2392

Talon watched as Monique placed the large platter of Lasagna before her, the pregnant female then began dishing out the food to the children first. Marie then Perea and Othello. They got smaller portions as they were still very young and then Davijaan poured the drinks for everyone before he began dishing them out, what started as an exercise on choreography turned into an exercise in chaos as dishes were served and drinks were handed out to everyone present. "Alright.. Now that we're all served. I'll tell you my news... I got promoted."

Sammy lifted her head as she gave Talon something of a suprised look. "Promoted... How is that bad news?"

"It warrants reassignment sweetie." The pregnant female sighed. "I'm being sent to take over as commander of the Shinano Squadron as a Division Admiral. Its an attachment of Independent Fleet Operations under my brother. Jake who's commanding all of IFO.. Captain Edward MacDougan is my Squadron exec..." she explained.

"What about the rest of us?." Davijaan inquired of his wife as she delivered the news.

"You'll be my Chief of Staff... I told Command I wasn't accepting this assignment unless you were coming with me so they caved as I needed a Chief of Staff anyway." Talon explained. "Sammy. You've apparently stuck your name in for reassignment from Admiral Sloane's office. Is that right?"

"Oh gods yes. I hate that vile woman." Sammy admitted. "Sorry.." she added in a sheepish tone of voice. "I just ahh.."

"Never apologize for your thoughts and opinions... If others don't want to or can't stand to hear it then thats their issue... Not yours." Talon explained with a smile. "You'll be coming along as well as my aide, its only a temporary assignment for a few months until your permanent assignment comes along but I'm sure we can survive each other until then." Talon smiled, clearly the last was intended as a joke.

"I hope so." Sammy responded with a smile.

"Monique. I'm sorry but I wasn't able to secure an assignment for you, not without ten tones of red tape.." Talon explained in an apologetic tone of voice.

Monique smiled. "Don't worry about it. I'm glad to be a part of this family.. Since I never really had one before.. I just glad to be welcome at the table."

"You're related to him and that makes you kin to me." Talon explained as Davijaan smiled. "I couldn't have said it better myself." he paused. "When does all of this take effect?" he inquired.

"The ninth. I know its quick but Starfleet wants us on station quickly." Talon sighed softly. "So... That means we're packing up shop and we're out of here tomorrow night. The good news is that the Shinano is coming to get us... and we'll be showing the flag along the Klingon border while heading to our assigned area of patrol." she then let out a sigh. "We're also leaving the children with April."

Monique regarded Sammy with a look before shifting her attention to Talon. "Aren't the Klingons knee deep in civil war at present?"

"Yep.. and there is a good chance we might get dragged into it as Klingon civil wars seldom remain confined to the empire." Talon explained. "Its also why we end up with large numbers of Klingon migrants fleeing across the border in the hundred of thousands, especially during the recent conflict they are calling The War of the four Chancellors." Davijaan explained. "Among them were the last remnants of House Martok."

"Martok." Talon whispered. "I remember him from the Dominion War." before she suddenly smiled, as if recalling something. "I'll tell you what happened." as she drained her drink before she began to explain the story. It was one young Klingon who had walked into one of the bars on Starbase Lya Station Alpha in late 2375. Talon had been seated at the bar and she was wanting an evening of peace and quiet when this Klingon had placed both hands on her shoulders and proclaimed that this female was his alone. Talon had not been impressed so she had belted him once and laid him out on the ground with one blow.

"That was Marax. Martoks nephew." she paused. "He was killed a few days later however in battle against a Jem'Hadar squadron over Septimus Three.." she sighed as Davijaan regarded his wife, he knew that she had lived a full life before he had ever known her and this didn't bother him. "I assume there is more to this story?"

"Yes.. But its...." she paused. "of an adult nature." Talon finished.

Monique missed the subtext and the inquiring look on her face said as much where as Sammy caught it, she smiled before she leaned over. "I'll tell you later." she said quietly to Monique who nodded. "I look forward to it." the second adult responded.

Meanwhile Talon noticed the subtext between the two women nearby, a smile appeared on her lips as the children began to eat their food, distress written on their faces as they knew they were leaving the ship they had come to call home.

"I'm gonna need to wear those gloves again... aren't I?" Noel inquired softly.

"I'm afraid so Noel. I am sorry." Talon sighed. "But only while you are at school or in public." she said quietly. Davijaan regarded Noel. "We'll teach you how to defend yourself and some self control to go with it... People will pick on you because you are different but.. Your mother and I will show you how to deal with it."

"It'll be fine sweetie." Sammy added.
