The Truth of the Matter - Part One

Mission: Mission 63: Second Nature
Location: Various Locations - USS Dreamcrusher
Timeline: 1100Hrs - February 9th, 2392

Lieutenant Monique Deepshadow was sitting on the biobed while she was presently undergoing a routine physical, she was due to be poked, prodded and be lusted over by the hot Doctors in sickbay. 'Well, not really but a girl could hope right?' Monique said to herself as she let out a soft sigh, now came the moment of truth. "Doctor?"

"Yes Lieutenant.?" Celeste Yamaguchi inquired with a gentle smile. "Don't worry I'll get your results when the computer finishes with them..."

"No.. Its.. something else." Deepshadow almost whispered. "I've been thinking... I need to know who my real father is... Could you .. find out..?"

Celeste could see the fear and trepidation in the younger womans eyes and her heart felt for her. "Are you absolutely sure you want to do this?"

"No... I need to do this." Monique smiled bravely at the older woman. "Mom was less than hopeless. She has no idea... She mentioned over forty names to me.."

"Forty!" Celeste responded. "What.. was she a slut at the academy or something?"

"Yes, Thats exactly what she was.." Deepshadow responded in a black tone of voice.

Celeste paused as she felt her mental processes become derailed with that statement as it impacted her consciousness. "Unbelievable," she muttered. "Yes.. Let me draw a little blood and I can do this for you..." as she gently placed a hypo over Monique's upper arm, before she asked it to draw about forty mils of blood. She then took it over to one of the computer stations before she keyed in the instructions. "Alright.," Yamaguchi commented, picking up a PADD before she came back to the smaller, younger woman with dreadlocks. "I have the results of your physical."

"Oh?" Deepshadow. "That was.... fast.." the younger woman muttered.

"You are in excellent shape, a tad malnourished but an extra portion with meals will cure that." Yamaguchi responded with a smile. "As for the results... This could take some time.." she responded as the system proceeded with the test it had been asked to do when suddenly it beeped at Celeste. "Mmm.. It found your missing father.." she paused as she went over to the system and the name displayed there. "Says that you are related to a Captain Davijaan Yeager... He's assigned here... On this ship... He's the Chief of Strategic Operations for Roanoke Squadron."

Deepshadow's entire world came crashing down around her when she heard those words, she had passed him several times in the hallways, never knowing who or what he truly was to her. "Mmm... Thank you Doctor... I have work I must attend to."

"Oh no.. I'm not going to let you out of here quite that easily..." Celeste responded quietly. "I want you to go and see the counselor. Get your head looked at as this was clearly a major event for you... Look don't refuse me out of hand... just... Consider it. is all I ask."

Deepshadow knew that Yamaguchi was being nice and friendly about the matter, she could also make it official with an order. "Alright.. I will.."

"Alright. I'll let the Counselor know to expect you."

"Yes Doctor." Deepshadow answered. "But.. I have someone I must see.."

"Don't rush in there, guns blazing.." as Yamaguchi took Deepshadow's hand and she slid the younger woman's fingers closed around the PADD. "The proof he will demand of you." the older woman responded. "Be gentle and tread carefully."

"I will.." and with that Deepshadow snapped out of her funk. "Right.. Mmm.." as she slid herself off of the biobed and went out the door.
