Mission: Mission 57: The Northern Lights
Location: Various Locations - Starbase 12
Timeline: Jan 2nd 2392

Nevanzi Jesko was on his way to the meeting room when he ran into Ryuukei. "Hey ryuukei, haven't seen you in a bit, whats going on."

Ryuukei shrugged," Eh, just on a supply run, the base camp on Zekarria is progressing quite nicely. What are you up to."

"I'm on my way to meeting April," Nevanzi answered, " The federation is putting together a task force to go into the delta quadrant to assemble a MIDAS array and a transwarp gate. Since there will likely be lost Akurian ships on the way, we will be sending a few ships with them to help out."

Ryuukei nodded," I see. Well form what I heard Talon is due to transfer over to that task force when it becomes ready." He then noticed Talon approaching. "Which speaking of."

Talon Yamaguchi regarded the two smaller beings. "Hey guys. I assume you're going my way?"

Fleet Captain Kell Donos emerged from a side hallway. "Greetings." he addressed the assembled people. "Am I interrupting?"

"Nah." Talon responded with a smile. "Kell... this is Ryuukei and this little one is Nevanzi. They are members of the Akurian Confederation... so be nice to them.... While they look cute and adorable... They know how to kick your ass."

Donos regarded Talon with a long suffering look. "Talon... I see time hasn't done anything to shine off your sharp edges..... Has it?"

"Nope. But April is waiting for us all I believe."

"So is everyone else." Donos responded.

Ryuukei gave Talon a look and shook his head. "Talon, we aren't Klingons you know."

Kell was the one who answered. "The lady enjoys picking on me... What can I say... I'm used to it by now."

Talon chuckled. "You're such an easy target." she responded. "Anyway... We're all expected in Wardroom Eleven."

Ryuukei nodded, then asked Nevanzi, "So who will be commanding our ships participating in this."

Nevanzi gave a small smile, "Someone whom may seem quite familiar."

Several minutes later, the group were entering the Wardroom. Before them was Fleet Admiral April Yamaguchi along with several others, it was quite a distinguished group of people.

April smiled. "Have a seat folks, we're just waiting for the last of our people before we get this show on the road.." as she indicated the food present. "Help yourself people, that is not for show."

The assembled people began to help themselves to the food and drink already assembled as the last person came in. Commander Gabriel Wounded-Knee smiled as he took in the scene at a glance. "Admiral."

"Alright. your the last one here... have a seat folks. I promise this will be worth the price of admission." the taller then average woman explained.

Teyo Kemoke had entered at about the same time Montgomary did and he took a seat between Ryuukei and Montgomery, but remained silent until April began the briefing. Likewise, neither Nevanzi nor Ryuukei said a word, along with the other Akurian captains present, among them being Captain 3rd class Arina Maya.

Following all of the other Akurians into the Wardroom was Commodore 3rd Class Tom 'Payload' Lasky and his wife, Command Warrant Officer Torilla Lasky. She smiled as she took in the odd looks she got from the assembled people.

"Torilla. What are you doing here?" Talon inquired.

"I fear you have confused me.... for your native Torilla..." Lasky responded.

Talon paused. "Ohh.."

April Yamaguchi looked around. "Are... we all here?." she asked "Or are we still waiting on people?"

Nevanzi looked around the room, " I have all my people."

April took a moment to quickly count heads as Captain Marie Yamaguchi came through the door. "I'm Sorry I'm late..." she explained as she quickly took a seat. April nodded. "Alright. we're all here." she tapped the wall monitor as it displayed an image of the Delta Quadrant. "Alright... In a few months time, the Federation will be sending a battlegroup of seven ships to the Delta Quadrant, the Akurians will be sending along a force to assist us with this endeavour, we'll be taking with us the means to build a MIDAS array as well as a slipstream gate. Its going to be the first in our network that we're putting together... My goal here is to select the ships going in the first wave.... They need to be equipped with Slipstream drive." she paused to allow all that a moment to sink in. "We'll be setting up shop in this area.." as she tapped a section of the star map.

"This is an area that used to be known as Spacial Grid Zero Zero Five. Tghe primary species in this area that we know if is called the Zahl Regency, there are several other nation states in this area too called the B'omar Sovereignty, the Krenim Imperium and several others.... The Alsuran Empire, the Garenor Commonwealth , Mawasi Republic, Nihydron Star League, Ram Izad Union and the Rilnar Confederacy." April explained. "There is plenty of chances for us to get to know these people... all of this information however is over fifteen years old so.... We will need to be careful.... The Commander of this mission will become the Commander of Starfleet Forces Delta Quadrant which for now isn't much to look at but it will become a much larger position as some goes by... same with Commanding Officer of Independent Fleet Operations."

Nevanzi then added, "Also any Akurian ships we find we will be making contact with them. And for that reason, we will be putting Tachyon radio's on all the federation ships, since our ships generally don't come equipped with subspace comm systems."

April nodded her head. "We'll have those issues and concerns hammered out and sorted out when this mission sets sail." she paused. "The date I'm looking at is the first week of April." before she shifted her attention to Talon, her younger sibling. "You will be the mission commander Talon."

Talon nodded her head slowly. "I'm ready."

April turned her head. "Any questions?"

Teyo was the one to ask. "So I take it in the meantime we will continue to work with our respective battlegroup's until then."

"For now. Yes." April responded evenly. "Planning for the Delta Quadrant assignment is going to be a major undertaking, last time was by accident but this time its by design.. We're going to bee go do this carefully.." the tallest Yamaguchi reminded everyone. "We will need to assemble several ships in the first wave... Thats why all of you are here... My goal is to select several ships and send them to a pre-selected point where they will begin construction of a base... The USS Shinano is the second Vishal Class starship in the fleet and she will be carrying the second Federation transwarp gate in existence."

April paused a moment to allow this to sink in. "Once the gate is established and connected to the new network that we will be building on our side.. Then we will send through the second and third battlegroups to start charting the area and exploring the region." she paused. "Questions?"

Teyo had no further questions while Nevanzi and Ryuukei shook their heads.

Commander Gabriel Wounded-Knee had nothing to add and neither did Fleet Captain Kell Donos. "Also... What about the Borg... will we be dealing with them?."

April nodded. "Borg encounters are likely, yes... Thats why you'll be fitted with the strongest weapons, armor plating and the best tech we can get for you."

Montgomery also shook his head as Talon smiled but she too held her silence. Lee Yamaguchi however had one question. "How many Akurian ships are going along?." he inquired.

Nevanzi pulled up his ship roster," OK, I'll be sending mostly faster ships, so it will be one fleet carrier, one large battlecruiser, two heavy battlecruisers, three large cruisers and four heavy cruisers. So a total of 11 ships."

"Eleven ships plus.." Lee responded softly. "All in all a rather solid battlegroup... Hopefully we won't tangle with the Borg right away but.." he shrugged his shoulders. "We are prepared to take them on if thats what they want.."

April nodded her head. "Alrighty, anything else?" she paused a moment. "No... Dismissed then.."
