Mission:
Mission 54: Where Snow Meets Sky
Location: Various Locations - USS Roanoke
Timeline: December 13th 2391
Arina Maya, the commander of the Akurian ships joined up with the Roanoke Command crew as soon as her shuttle landed. Teval looked up at the Governor's building as the group approached, commenting. "Well, this is a lot more modest than Boehner's place."
Lasky looked around. "Yeah. smaller and looks more tasteful." he commented softly as Vrenn came over. "The file on our governor sir."
"Don't call me 'sir' ever again." Lasky responded in a deadpan tone as he accepted the PADD. "My mother gave me a name an it ain't sir.. cool?"
"Right then Tom." Vrenn responded in the same time. "As you wish."
"I do." Lasky responded as they approached the front door. "So... Zara... did you bring a smile?"
"Yeah..." Zara sighed, adjusted her collar, and hit the chime on the door.
Governor Tarim Looked up at the door, saying " Enter."
"Governor," Zara spoke with a bow of her head. "These are my senior officers Captain Teval and Commander Lasky."
Tarim looked at the new arrivals, then commented," Well at least starfleet has the courtesy of showing up to help, unlike my own rather useless government. What have you brought us."
Lasky paused. "We brought help for your various woes." he responded with a smile. "So... how can we help with your worlds troubles?"
Tarim pulled out a padd, saying," This is the full rundown of what we need, but basically our problem is the planet is moving into an ice age so we are having food shortages, and our infrastructure is incomplete and not meant to handle an ice age. Ordinarily if Betazed had granted us sufficient funding this wouldn't be a big issue, but given their failure to support us, if we don't get these problems solved, in the next few months we may have to abandon the planet. So I sincerely hope you brought sufficient resources to help out."
Lasky raised an eyebrow. "Mmm... So this will be a challenge." before he handed the PADD to Zara. "Well we're here for the duration until this gets resolved."
"This being a Starfleet humanitarian aid mission, consider your bill paid," Zara assured the planet's leadership. "I've a fleet of engineers at your beck and call for any repairs and structures still needing built."
Tarim nodded, then looked at Arina, " And I can tell your not starfleet, what is your purpose here."
Arina shrugged innocently," Eh I'm commander of an Akurian task group, we are helping out with this mission as well."
"So you are allies of the federation then."
Arina Nodded.
Tarim sat back down in his chair," Alright good enough for me. Fair warning to you, all though the citizens of this planet are in very foul mood, especially the bajorans, be careful, and it would be wise if Betazed officials where kept away from the colony for the time being, otherwise a lynch mob may go after them. Otherwise, coordinate with the planets civil engineers on the specific projects and keep me notified of your progress, and I'll let you know if any political crap comes our way."
Lasky nodded. "Sounds good sir. We can do all of that for you." he paused as he had the thought that this was way too easy. "So... any questions folks?"
"I'm good. And we'll set things right. You have my word," Zara promised to the colony leadership.
Just one more thing," Tarim added," Show a presence. Make yourselves visible, that way so the colonists know that at least the federation cares, if not Betazed. I would prefer that our colony doesn't go down the absurd route like Retep III."
Lasky nodded in understanding. "Is the colony considering it?" he inquired. "Going independent I mean." he added, for clarification as he asked the governor.
"From betazed, Yes." From the federation, No we arent in the condition to do that," Tarim answered evenly.
