Mission:
Mission 51: Warchild
Location: Various Locations - USS Roanoke
Timeline: 1500Hrs - November 20th. 2391
Master Warrant Officer Warrick Brown had processed the skipper first then he had politely informed the skipper that he was free to go home. Now he was processing everyone else, Lasky and Toshnarr were first,
Now ninety minutes later Commander Lasky sighed softly to himself as he shook his head. "Fucking hell.... I mean... what the fuck was this in aid of?" he muttered to himself. "Another letter for me to write home.... and someone who didn't need to die." he muttered softly.
He turned to find himself face to face with Teval. "Hey... What are you doing back here?" he inquired of Teval.
Teval's fur was still a little damp from his bath, and he didn't really groom himself particularly well, so he looked a little ragged. "Well tried to nap a little, but couldn't sleep so I am just checking on people."
"Fair enough. Most of the lightly wounded have already been kicked out and sent home with orders to take the next few days off... signed by myself... because.... I can.." Lasky smiled. "I spoke with Fleet Captain Zuko and he's agreed to loan us two dozen medics and doctors for the next three days." Lasky explained.
Teval nodded. "Alright, thanks for taking care of that. I know Renhai volunteered to be the acting CMO for a little while, while our guys recover."
"Excellent." Lasky smiled down at Teval. "The Counseling staff from Spirit of Winter and Dreamcrusher are also willing to help us.."
Just then Lt Commander Autumn Yamaguchi came around the corner. "Afternoon Commander." she looked from Lasky to Teval. "Skipper." she added a second later. "I'm just drawing up my schedule for the next week. Its gonna be full. Do you two want to pay me a visit.... or me come to you..?"
Lasky paused. "I think I'll be alright..."
Teval shrugged. "Eh, to be honest, I'm just tired, I'll be fine, help my crew first."
Yamaguchi nodded her head. "Willdo." she then crossed the two names off of his list. "I'll start with your Lieutenant Toshnarr..." she paused. "I've yet to meet him."
Just then a nurse came over. "Sir... Lieutenant Toshnarr left.."
"Okay, Thank you Chief," Lasky responded. "I'd best go," he said to Teval, and with that, he turned and departed sickbay, he went down the hallway while calling for the location of Lieutenant Toshnarr.
Once he had the location and likely destination in hand, he deliberately arranged himself so he would run into Toshnarr a few minutes later.
"Toshnarr... What's up?"
"Oh, I think you know Commander?"
"Assume that I don't.." Lasky responded. "But let me guess your plan..." he rumbled. "You're going to go in and want to do a medical examination of these goons, then you'll kick everyone else out citing medical regs, then you'll shut off all of the recording devices then you'll go and kill all six of them... then I assume you plan to slight their corpses.." Lasky explained. "How'm I doin' so far?"
"You are accurate Commander. That... is indeed my plan."
"Toshnarr. Let the skipper handle it... I know you want revenge for the loss of your friend..."
"Ralih was my comrade, my co-worker... my friend..."
"Hey, I get it... I lost people I cared about too.." Lasky explained. "But this doesn't bring them back... Don't do this big guy... How would Froststorm feel about you getting carted off to jail for this...?"
"I look at Ralih and I keep seeing her... Ryi that is..."
"I know." Lasky responded. "I know what Its like big guy.... to be in love and nearly lose her... and then someone else dies who looks like her... It's searing, blinding... the resulting hatred for her killer. That endless rage. It's comforting."
Toshnarr roared as he took a swing towards Lasky, except he smashed his fist into the bulkhead, with a loud crunching sound.
"I'm right... and you know I'm right.." Lasky said, completely unphased by Toshnarr losing his temper. "But another act of murder won't help you... It won't help us... and it won't help the skipper... Trust in him... if you don't trust anyone else... At least trust him to do what's right.."
Toshnarr came to a stop outside the brig section, he regarded the two massive doors before him. "It matters not Commander. They must PAY for their crimes..."
Teval meanwhile, was sitting at the forcefield command console. The brig was completely empty, except for a single drunken marine, "Private Donald Trump." His feline ears had easily detected Toshnarr's approach.
Toshnarr entered the brig space, followed by Lasky in silence. "They are not here." the large Gorn responded quietly. "You had no faith in me..."
"You had none in us Toshnarr," Lasky responded. "You wanted to look them in the eye and demand an explanation..." he sighed softly. "Well, you'll get one... at their trial."
Toshnarr regarded Trump in silence.
Teval looked up at Toshnarr, "Well in all fairness, a lot of people on this crew have a tenancy to want to go for the cowboy justice. Honestly, the ones I was worried about the most was Zara Tane and Commodore Olmos."
"I want to see justice done," Toshnarr responded. "The Federation tends to be too lenient.. My friend is dead because of these goons... I want to see them suffer for their crimes.."
Lasky responded. "They will... but we need time for the system to work... Which means you need to get this rage out of your system by other means big guy... I know you like to protect the ladies in sickbay... since your one of the few men there...."
Teval sighed, then replied, " You may not understand now, but I did it to protect you guys. The moment one of you decides to take matters into their own hands and kill them yourselves, all you will accomplish is getting yourselves in trouble, and getting sent to prison in their place. I cannot allow any one of you to do something like that. Besides, I have the weight of the first family of Betazed behind me on this case, they will be punished."
Toshnarr regarded Teval in silence for a few moments. "Alright.." he rumbled. "I will let it go.." and with that, he turned and walked out of the brig area in silence.
Lasky turned to watch him leave in silence. He waited for Toshnarr to be well outside of earshot. "You think we stopped him?"
Teval just looked at the door. "I don't know, but either way, Zuko has stashed those guys good, Even I don't know where they are at, so even if he or anyone else on the crew interested in revenge makes the attempt to go after them, its rather doubtful they will succeed."
"Good." Lasky responded. "Well, Toshnarr was always going to be the holdout... I still remember him threatening to disembowel Admiral Yamaguchi when he went to visit his daughter in sickbay after she'd had her knee smashed apart."
