Mission:
Mission 39: By Fire be Purged
Location: Sickbay - USS Roanoke
Timeline: 1210Hrs - August 1st, 2391
Siaxx Dvald was busy with the triage as she had quickly called everyone in when the first signs of distress echoed through Roanoke's superstructure. the loud crack of moaning metal could be heard as Siaxx felt goosebumps break out all over her body. "Oh shit.." she paused as she slapped her combadge. "All Medical Personnel, report for duty, this is not a drill... repeat, this ain't no dammed drill."
Minutes passed by as the medical staff came in along with several wounded. "Alright.. send this one over to Galiaan and Sokanon over there." Siaxx explained. "What do you got?"
"Sucking chest wound.."
"Send him over there..." she sighed softly. "This is gonna get brutal."
The door opened as Elizabeth hobbled in. "Siaxx, let me handle the triage... you help heal... this is a waste of your skills."
Siaxx regarded Elizabeth. "You gonna be okay?"
"I'll live... I know what to do." she sighed as she produced her tricorder. "Lets do this." as she took a deep cleansing breath, as she knew she was going to be deciding who lived and who died. "Alright." and with that the small Bolian retreated into the operating room as more downed personnel arrived. "God... have mercy on my brothers souls.." and with that. Elizabeth Yamaguchi-Solusar went to work.
Moments later Alurian Del came in carrying another casualty, an engineer from Walter Emick's team. The poor man was missing a leg from flying debris's, and had a hastily applied Tourniquet above the stump to keep him from bleeding out.
Nalla pointed to Phoenix's unconscious body. Singed and blistered and missing her prosthetic.
"We need to stabilize her before I can begin to look into a replacement for her arm," Nalla said in a hurry as she looked at the tricorder. "Third degree flash burns and internal bleeding. No shrapnel. We need to get her into the OR stat!"
Siaxx finished stabilizing one of the pilots as she sighed. "Never rains but it pours.." as two orderlies moved her wounded pilot and placed another before her as she let out a sigh before going to work again.
Sokanon in the OR was fighting to save a wounded pilot who had flat-lined.. "The spirits aren't ready for you yet." she whispered as she smiled. "Yes... I got him back.." as she now fought to stabilize his lifesigns.
"Do you require assistance?" Nalla asked to Sokanon as she took her spot at bed four to begin working on Phoenix.
"Please. Look after Phoenix while I handle Cartwheel." she responded softly. "Her prosthetic needs to come off.."
Nalla instantly began to talk into her surgical recorder while she reached for her medical tools. "I am using a presser to stop the various ruptured blood vessels in the abdomen of Patient Two-Three-Seven..."
Sokanon nodded as she sighed softly. "Okay..." she gently returned her attention to her own wounded. "collapsed lungs..." she explained. "I need to sort that out."
"This one has smoke inhalation damage to the lungs," Nalla commented. "I am not sure how long the ventilators will hold. But I cannot replace the old lungs with new ones, until I have the bleeding stopped."
"Fair enough." Sokanon responded like the two were at lunch and not surrounded by all of this insanity. "Still working on mine."
"It would appear the initial surgery to stabilize Colonel Sullivan, was barely enough... Many sub-dermal biosutures are starting to break," Nalla spoke into her surgical recorder. "I feel like we have been at this more than sixty hours, when in fact it has only been twenty-seven-point-three."
Sokanon smiled. "This one will be alright.." she waved down a couple of orderlies. "take this one over to the Avalon, bring the next one."
"Willdo sir." as they loaded the wounded pilot onto a stretcher before they hailed him away, he was replaced by another pilot moments later.
Once again Sokanon went to work.
"I am thinking Captain Olmos will take Colonel Sullivan," Nalla guessed. "She still needs a prosthetic, after all... Chemicals she breathed, however, has burned her lungs past the point of salvageable. I need a biopsy tray so I can pull healthy tissue samples from Miss Sullivan's lungs. For replication."
Sokanon reached down as she selected the item that Nalla needed for her work. "I always pack extra gear.. never know when I'll need it." as she handed the item to Nalla.
Nalla nodded her thanks as she began to pull the healthy tissue. Then she went back to repairing the ruptured blood vessels in her abdomen. As well as repairing her spleen.
"If any removing shrapnel has a problem with the mobile surgical transporter, let me know," Nalla called out while coolly still tending to Phoenix's problems. "Especially if you are getting technical glitches."
"Consider it done." Sokanon explained as she finished healing the one leg. "This guy won't be walking for awhile but at least he keeps his leg."
"I have placed biostints in the veins, to heal the busted vessels," Nalla told more to her recorder. "We should see stabilization within the next twenty-four hours. Colonel Phoenix should go to a clean room in ICU, however, until we can replace her lungs."
Sokanon sighed softly as she gently removed a piece of shrapnel from the chest wound while she was able to prevent him from bleeding all over the place. "Easy..." she whispered as she began closing up the wound.
Nalla made direct eye contact with Siaxx. "She is still going to need several surgeries, but she should be stable enough for visitors by morning."
"Thank you Nalla." Siaxx responded before she turned to the orderly. "Take this guy to his quarters... and see to it that he's monitored, in case something goes wrong."
Chief Petty officer Bruce Tanner nodded. "Consider it done Doc." he turned to his companion. "Lets be gentle with this one.."
Petty Officer 3rd Class Heather Waller smiled. "Another life saved... the docs are our heroes today."
With the danger to the ship passed, Hakaya and Karryn both arrived in sickbay, having beamed over from Dreamcrusher. Hakaya went over to Siaxx, saying, "Hey Siaxx, my medical training is quite minimal, but both me and Karryn have come here to help out with whatever you need."
Siaxx smiled. "Excellent." she responded. "I'm gonna get the two of you to help two separate guys.." she paused. "Hakaya would you mind helping Galiaan over there in the second OR.?" she inquired. "Karryn, I'm going to get you to help Ralih, she's right over there... help them out and keep them from going insane.." the small Bolian explained.
Both Hakaya and Karryn nodded and moved off where Siaxx told them to go.
Siaxx smiled as the doors opened and in came four more people who were unhurt. From the uniforms, they were security. "We've come to help."
"Alright.. you." she indicated McDougal. "Stay and help me... you. help her. you help him and you... see the massive guy, follow him and make yourself useful."
The four nodded as they scattered, while someone placed another wounded pilot in front of her. McDougal handed her a tricorder. "Thanks... lets do this."
Nalla took a moment to stretch out her sore neck and arms before she dove in to fix the shrapnel wounds on a deckhand in front of her.
Siaxx saw they were getting overwhelmed as she sighed. "I never made much use of this dammed program." before she raised her voice. "Computer. active the EMH Program, maximum number of iterations, contiguous. Activate Now!" and with that a half dozen holograms appeared, wearing medical uniforms.
"Please state-Oh"
"Please state the nature of the medical emergency?"
"What can I do?"
"How can I help?"
Siaxx raised her voice to get the attention of the holograms. "Massive burns, lung damage, broken bones, blunt forced traumas. Help us... we're drowning in bodies here."
"At once." the six holograms responded before going into action.
"I never liked those programs," Nalla spoke in an aristocratic manner. "They have egos that like to challenge far too often."
Siaxx simply shrugged. "I know... Let them work... we got ours and they got theirs.." she small Bolian responded evenly.
