Mission:
Mission 38: Last One Out, Get the Lights
Location: Various Locations - USS Roanoke
Timeline: 0900Hrs - July 26th 2391
Lieutenant John Sheridan sighed softly as he placed a cup of Bajoran coffee before Lieutenant Gyce. "Bajoran Coffee.. double strong," he commented softly. "Well... we ready for this meeting?"
Teval walked in, carrying a Padd with the notes he had compiled on the incidents over the past couple of days, " I'm ready."
"What the kosst is going on to create all this chaos?" Gyce spoke with exasperation. "I get the feeling we're missing a piece of information, outside Kam trying to kill Lasky."
Teval sat there thinking, then answered, "I talked to Elizabeth on the matter, Tom Lasky did threaten Elizabeth, because he believed Elizabeth used her telepathic powers to influence Zara. Kameron was present when that happened, and he did not take that well, plus Kameron learned of what happened between Tom and Torilla."
Sheridan facepalmed. "Fuck!" he sighed. "So... Kameron goes ape shit and beats the snot out of Mister Lasky because of what Lasky did to his wife and mother in law.." he paused. "I can see why he would do it... Not that I'd agree with him..."
"So Fives was motivated to fight for Tane's rights of sentience... Kam fought to protect his family. What I don't understand is why Fives gives a damn about Tane." Gyce scratched her head. "He doesn't strike me as being a big fan of hers."
Sheridan sighed. "I didn't see that one either." he shook his head. "I don't get it..."
Teval shared some additional information, "I looked into what Tom Lasky was doing before he went on a rampage, he was in the green dragon with Zara, and Duval told me they where on a dinner date."
Gyce sighed and pulled out her case board. The picture at the top, was Fives, with Kam directly below his. Then she drew a line to the right of Fives and pulled out Zara's personnel picture to display beside of Fives'.
"Lasky doesn't act irrationally unless something pushed him over the limit. I can't see him going on a rampage over a single dinner date. That is unless he was emotionally invested in her," Gyce pointed out. Then she pulled up Torilla's picture and placed it above Fives'.
"He went to two people because finding the one responsible for harming Tane. So that tells me this whole situation is personal. For Kam and Fives," Gyce continued. "We're looking at strong cases of diminished capacity."
Teval looked up at Gyce's chart, thinking, then it occurred to him, "The hypnosis, that must have been what set him off. Zara was screaming at Torilla that Torilla ordered our new counselor, Cressa, to keep Zara under hypnosis. From what I gather, the goal of the Hypnosis was to keep Zara away from Alcohol and the cigars. Fives must have figured it out, and went after Torilla for it."
"Suggestion of charges," Gyce spoke to her partner while she rubbed her temples. "If feel like I'm stuck in grammar school sometimes."
Sheridan sighed. "Kameron could have felt that he was overcompensating for failing to be there for his wife, during the first event with Tienn..." as he shook his head.
"I concur," Gyce noted quietly. "But first offense or not, putting a warning in their records for this level of violence and mayhem, will not be seen as Justice for the victims involved."
Teval sighed, then said, "Well, the charges are quite serious, on many ships in many commands, these charges could get them both kicked out of starfleet. However, I believe this is too extreme of a punishment. Given both of them have good records, plus the general stress level of both of them, I don't want to go to that level of extreme. However they cannot get a free pass either, otherwise, crew discipline will go to hell. So I believe, for Tom Lasky, a reduction to Lieutenant, and 30 days confinement. For Kameron, reduction to ensign and 30 days confinement. However I will add, that if you don't believe they are a security risk, you can release them both to their quarters until we do the hearing, that's your discretion."
Sheridan nodded his head. "Sounds too nice.." he commented quietly.
"I've no problems with Lasky being released. But Kameron has made aggressive gestures to Tienn Iteela," Gyce pointed out. "I'm not convinced he can control his urges, now that Fives is in his crosshairs as well."
Sheridan simply shook his head. "No." he responded. "One doesn't get to be a pilot by being a hamfisted moron." he paused. "if he was this out of control then he wouldn't have made it into or even through flight school.." he paused. "something... doesn't add up... Fives... why... Is he suddenly so overprotective of the skipper... To the point, he's willing to hurt others for it." He sat down in a chair nearby. "I don't like it... Kameron went for Fives... why... I don't get it... We're missing something."
Teval looked at both of them saying," I recommend you have the counselor evaluate them then, then make your decision as to whether you will release them until the hearing. But as I said, it is your discretion. Also speaking of, they will also attend counseling once their 30 days confinement is up. If you do release them though, it will be up to Phoenix as to what she would want them to do in the meantime. Though they absolutely will not be flying."
"I agree," Gyce nodded. "Someone needs to tell Fives he's in love though. Before he tips over the edge again."
Sheridan regarded Gyce, with a look of realization on his face as the revelation dawned on him. "That's it... Lasky's is in love. That would explain a great many things."
Teval nodded, then said, "Well then, if there is nothing else either of you wants to add, I would like to have a short chat with both of them."
"Of course, Sir," Gyce agreed and stood up to unlock the cells in question.
Teval at this point ignored the sir and went to the cells to where Fives and Kameron were, saying to both of them, "Can you two come over here with me please."
Kameron turned and came over to stand near the forcefield as Fives opened his eyes while rising to a standing position from where he had been sitting crosslegged a moment earlier. Neither man said anything.
Teval nodded to the brig guard, and he released the forcefields. He then went into five's Cell and sat down on the opposite bench, "Kameron, come over here to sit, I want to talk to both of you at the same time."
Kameron slowly moved across the brig area as he sat down across from Fives.
Fives regarded Kameron with a measure of concern and trepidation but he held his silence.
Teval sighed, then started off, "Kameron, Tom, quite frankly, you have both screwed up pretty bad. But you can recover from this, as long as you learn from this experience. You both know why you are here right."
Kameron nodded. "I'm too overprotective.." he responded.
"Which at times isn't a bad thing Kameron... But you need to calm your passions.... or you'll make my mistakes..." Lasky let out a rather long sigh.
Kameron paused as he sighed as Fives went to place his hand on the other man's shoulder but he stopped. "Kam... what I did was wrong... I know that... but had you not gotten involved... you would have replaced Ironhide as Commander of First Squadron... but now you're gonna fry alongside me... No worse... because you had issues with another... While they might let me out... They will come after you.."
Kameron nodded his head. "Fives... you shouldn't have threatened my wife like that... you accused her of mentally assaulting the skipper with notihng to back up your accusation... Then you accused her of lying about it.." he paused. "But I can... understand why... You have a thing for Zara Tane."
"What?" Lasky paused.
"Think about it, logically... its the only thing that makes sense," Kameron responded quietly. "But Fi-Tom... You do need to rediscover your humanity, if you are to face this foe... You recall what you once said to me about facing ones foes... You're not alone in life.... you never were but you wear that name like its a shroud.. its not your freedom, its a prison..." he sighed. "think on it... is all I'm saying."
"I will... so long as you think on what I've said."
"I'll ask security for a PADD.... I need to write a couple of letters." Kameron turned back to Teval. "Could you arrange that for me.... security won't let me out of here anytime soon... I'm too dangerous."
Tom turned his head. "Then I will remain in here too... a warrior should not face his trials alone."
Teval nodded, saying, "Don't worry PADD's will be provided, now on to the next part. You two are both looking at a Demotion and 30 days of confinement. Considering Zara's and Torilla's involvement, I will be running the hearing, with Lt. Gyce and John Sheridan. After your confinement you will both attend mandatory counseling. Look at this as a learning opportunity, and don't repeat the mistakes you have made here. We still have a few things to deal with but your hearings will happen sometime within the next 7 day's. Your both decent officer's, I would rather not drag this out.
Lasky nodded. "I understand.... for whatever its worth... I don't feel like pressing charges... I've never seen the value of it."
Kameron waited until after Lasky finished as he likewise nodded. "I've never been big on charges for people who wrong me...but I do got much to learn and sort though.." he paused. "Maybe seeing the Counselor will be helpful to me.... and for Elizabeth too." he sighed. "IO let my wife down again."
"Rubbish Kam... you did only what you had to do..."
"It was still wrong.."
"Well... you won't be in here alone... if that means anything, I will stay until the hearing comes or they let you out... "
"Somehow... I appreciate that... gives us time to sort our problems out."
"It does at that.... You're a good man Kameron Yamaguchi. Don't let this bring you down.." Lasky turned to Teval. "Thank you for your patience sir."
Teval nodded, adding, "Don't call me sir, Anyway, the final bit of advice I have, is don't take this incident as being a permanent chain on your record. Keep in mind, a record that sows you getting in trouble, then bouncing back and recovering, actually looks a lot better than a spotless squeaky clean record, because it shows you can take a hit and recover. So in a way, this will help you out in the long run, as long as you tighten it up, stay out of trouble, you will get your ranks back within a year. And it will show, that if something bad happens, you can get back on your feet. So please, don't screw this up."
Lasky nodded. "Thank you for your candor Teval."
Kameron looked at the feline being. "Thank you s-" he paused. "Teval."
Teval nodded, stood up and walked out of the cell, ending with, "It is up to Lt. Gyce as to whether she will release you in the meantime between now and your hearing. I trust her judgement on the matter."
He then left without waiting for them to reply.
Kameron settled in as he lay down on his bunk, closing his eyes as he went off to sleep while Lasky settled in to meditate."
